Completely unusable update, I have spent the morning troubleshooting and cannot get the game to a playable state, or anything remotely resembling one.

I hope the gamble to sacrifice loyal, returning players for a new generation of players is worth it, I enjoyed the game while I could.

Brother, I know it can be painful, but you must update your system. I was very reluctant about this update, but I have to say it is looking great. I can see it coming together. It’s not really a new generation of players, it’s still the old genertation, but with newer computers. Be the old guy with a new computer. You will love it.

Yep, in 2010 we all had that same problem. We need to keep up!

My system plays other AAA titles just fine. This is not a hardware issue, purely a software and poor decisions made by MA issue.

I’m on that fence right now. For me it is playable but the visual changes to the UI are just so jarring it’s hard to look at frankly. Considering chipping out entirely and quitting for the third time (in 20 years). Or should I wait a few months and log in again after they solve a lot of all this mess?

Tried turning off all the new GPU accelerated features? Games 64 bit executable is allocated to your main GPU in control panel?

Should run fine, it works fine on my wifes old laptop with the GPU acceleration features turned off in games settings, with them on it was insanely laggy even on low settings, but with it switched off it plays nice even on very high at 1200p.

I am curious what people do in game for it to become unplayable, really.

Performance issues are most certainly on the users end. I bought a laptop two years ago for $1000 which is a budget one and it was able to run EU fine on high and very high settings for a long time. After chromium i put settings down to low and a couple months back i spent $200 on RAM as well as cleaned my fans and we are back to smooth on high and very high. A ton of people seem to be running EU on their integrated gpu (pro tip, when people give you advice then take it to heart, don’t hand wave it away and go back into the shower crying).

As for the UI update, I spent five minutes reorganizing and all was good. Hotbars were saved even after a reset and then i played for six hours. Of course, I encountered some inconveniences but nothing that made the game unplayable. Most frustrating part was not being able to TP to waypoints.

Im fairly certain if we calm the fuck down then a lot of stuff will be fixed like for instance the letters and condition bars in inventory and whatever else has been repeated. At this point people are complaining just to complain and it is annoying reading some of it such as QoL changes for people trying to figure the game out.

Please take a look at this thread @Raichuss, it might help:

To be honest i not played since the update, just waiting for the testers to work stuff out.

Play something else and wait for the bug reports to become calm and steady.

It has been this way forever. :joy:

To be fair though MA are a small company, just takes them longer than bigger companies with huge budgets.

After today I was having some random freezes that lasted seconds and sometimes only doing “Alt+Tab” and come back would resume the game. Then by activating Texture Streaming it got better and even did 2 full amps mining without any freezes but after TP back to Boreas the freezes came back.

I finally got the freezes fixed by turning OFF both “GPU Rendered Text” and “GPU Accelerated UI Rendering” and turning ON “Texture Streaming”.

My Rig is from 2013 with a good I5 from that time but the GPU is recent (RTX 3050 6GB). Hope this helps!

well.. I don’t think anyone is happy about logging in to a cess-pool of bugs…

I’m very bitter about it myself.

but what can ya do.

I look on the bright side… which is.

at least they’ve opened a bug report thread and are listening to players…

could be worse..

Most of bugs were fixed quickly, and tbh this new interface is making EU look like a real actual game, so just relax a bit , it will work fine at the end !

Understandable reaction.

People tend to not make great choices while emotional or stressed out.

Give it a few day or week, see how it plays out.

Best of luck!

We are being taken for granted, expecting us to bug report due to their lack of care. Atm many of us are still reporting, but there are limits how much patience a person can have until it’s dried up.

Like they fix some bugs, but then old bugs that got fixed before come back again, this can get never-ending.

The worst part isn’t even this, it’s the fact that they may get the go ahead from the bosses in few more patches that “it’s good enough” then no more UI update/bug fixes and the UI will be left in a semi-workable state (with some bugs, that still remain).

Personally that’s why I’m still bothering reporting the bugs I care about, in hopes that it will get fixed in time or QoL changes, before they call it “done, good enough”.

If they want us to continue bug reporting at this scale longterm, as a beta tester, they need to add an official bug report reward system, for bugs that get fixed. This will be fair and motivating for people to report bugs, killing two birds with one stone.

They shouldn’t launch VU’s with so many bugs, when it’s not related to something that can be gained an advantage of in a RCE like UI changes, it should have been released in a “beta” client so players who want to test it can, and report bugs so it can be released in a more polished state.

Forcing every player to suffer through this is not good for the longterm longevity of the game.

@Ludvig_MindArk hope you guys can take this honest constructive feedback with the intention that it comes from a player who wants the game to succeed.

Id think many players would happily do beta if it didnt halt their progress.

man, please make a litle lower settings on lowest video, like 10-20% or something, is not something very special, you just make a service for many players. You probably want people with the best systems on the market, but i dunno if this can be a good marketing strategy atm.

the graphics settings could be turned down a bit, though
