Soooo, we already have problems with some resellers driving prices on some items to irrational levels, and you want to open the base currency of the game to the same exposure? Take your short term speculation elsewhere, it does not belong in a slow, steady and long-haul game.
Alice is a bad token to brag on, at least atm, because I think the price is gonna go down pretty fast. It’s only like 3 days old and many tokens first go way up and then way down in price. I almost bought some CHR to stake alice, but turned that depo to VET instead. I’ll be watching my neigbor alice.
I would say MA has a head start on these other projects, having been through so much already, that all these guys will probably encounter soon. To me it’s so obvious, this is the dream the original Entropia Project devs were building. I wish MA would look at this and ignore all the that think EU is ok as it is and just have to cry about how volatile bitcoin is to end the conversation.
MAYBE, MA is working on a totally rebuilt EU game engine running on the blockchain. Notice how I slipped my depo onto some other blockchain?
Out of curiosity, what benefits do you think MA (as a for profit business) get out of migrating to a blockchain solution? They surely want to be the centralised authority to do with all things PED, and control it if need be.
There’s obviously a lot of hype surrounding blockchain at the minute, but I’m curious to see how you think it would actually improve EU.
They already started to go down that path with deeptoken.io, and even though it was never implemented it was quite possibly one of the most damaging ‘side projects’ they ever did.
The absolute core of Entropia is the real cash economy and the fact that $1 USD = 10 PED. ‘Floating’ the ped would kill the game over-night, as ‘normal’ players would stop playing as essentially that conversion guarantee and reserves would no longer exist (giving away Entropia’s key competitive advantage in return for becoming ‘just another crypto game’). It would also screw up the entire in-game market for loot returns and the value of items.
Another key aspect is that in order to implement the change they would need the consent of the player base. You can’t just remove the link to the USD like that hope for the best - MindArk would be buried in lawsuits so deep they would never see the end of it.
Final point - Implementation. Given all the bugs that crop up whenever MindArk introduces even the smallest of changes, how well do you think a system-wide change in the currency mechanism would go? ?♂️
No thanks. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There’s a reason Entropia has lasted so long, and my bet is that it will be here way after all these other ‘flash in the pan’ crypto games fizzle out…so long as they stick to doing what they’re doing and avoid meddling in fads.
If you read through the comments to every other thread with “crypto” in the title you should get an idea of how many people would be turned off by the very such an association, even before all technicalities come into play.
It’s all about the innovation. Centralization is the problem. The story of MA is a perfect microcosm story of centralized control. Communism stifles development.
The dream of MA was lofty as it was solid and well developed. But as time went on the neat little things about EU gradually disappeared and were replaced by easier to manage but more boring mechanics. MA literally forgot it’s own reason for existence. Now it’s just a cash cow with no long vision, no desire for change and no new developement. The only reason it hasn’t died is because of the player investment.
We all signed up on a promise of making money. Remember that? It was the hook that got us all in the game and made us stay. It’s the money that is keeping this zombie alive. And I call it zombie because the rest of the world really is moving along. There are opportunites to make a living playing video games now, for real, like never before. But not in EU. It’s 95% now no matter what. What the hale fun is that?
I really can’t argue with people that don’t want change. But I won’t agree that the game shouldn’t change. Programming EU has been “challenging” for them. Lawsuits are damaging. Bugs are scary. Rules intimidating. Maybe the safest option for MA is to let the game die. Maybe it will when they realise it’s only getting powdered milk out of their zombie cash cow.
It won’t be long now. MA is going to have to decide change or die. Same with you. And you and you and you. I still have hope. But not much.
I fail to understand how implementing a blockchain would change this, should they just implement blockchain to jump on the hypetrain? In my opinion they should not, i don’t see what it would bring for EU.
PED could continue to be the currency, and could be pegged to USD. No problem. They were too early on the ball with deeptoken, it was during the ICO craze. Now we’re seeing emerging crypto ecosystems (or whatever you call them) with stable player base and good functionality. We’re not seeing an EU level game yet, but soon we will. And people will jump ship and go there instead, with full control of their assets and ample opportunity for trading (no chance for MA to delete your assets, any asset would be sellable - true RCE). I’m no crypto missionary, I simply think that the technology is advancing quickly (maybe due to covid), and that these things will inevitably unfold and leave EU behind.
You know that belittling people while making stupid arguments does not make you or your arguments look any smarter, right?
(and yes, if you feel the urge to comment on my writing please do so, eng is not my native language and i have a timelimit connected to the amount of effort i want to put into conversations of lesser importance to me)
I said it three times man!! Since you need me to be specific. How about speed of depo and withdrawal?
I don’t feel a need to convince anti crypto people because they are not part of the solution.
I just want to see a better game. In case you didn’t notice this game really needs work.
What crypto and blockchain can bring to entropia universe? Increased speed of deposit and withdrawal?
It’s almost as if theres people with vested interest in making the people that like crypto look bad and mudding up the conversation with pointless arguments. Fact checkers maintaining the status quo? hmmm?
