“..meant to be played” from Nvidia is 99% marketing, 1% technical co-operation.
Remember UT2003 it has also the Nvidia meant to be played slogan, but actually the high end ATI had a higher FPS on it. :silly2:
With the introduction of the new engine (hopefully soon) MA did an awesome move of introducing this partnership now, since a lot of ppl are now waiting their GFX card to check the specs of Cryengine and will feel more confident of buying an Nvidia since the co-operation.
I had never probs with Nvidia and they worked well for me in windows as well as in linux so if I buy an new GFX card it will prolly an Nvidia anyway. But if you prefer an ATI card just go for an ATI, the high end cards of both brand will do a great job. And within a year the mainstream cards of both brands will do a great job.

I’m a huge Nvidia fanboy from way back, but thought you 'all ought to see some of the things floating around the net.
There appear to be some issues with certain high end nvidia cards (both mobile and desktop) in the 8xxx and 9xxx series.
From what I have been able to gather this is not limited to notebook chipsets. It has something to do with a substrate on the silicon itself and is happening in SOME (not many) desktop cards as well.
Both HP and Dell have had problems. It has to do with the substarate breaking down after repeated heating/cooling cycles which are more common on most laptops then on many desktops, hence the reportes of more laptop failers.
Will try to some detailed links on the subject. The one I read yesterday had more technical info in it then this one.

i talked about better RL items in loot to someone before… this is a great marketing item, so long as the word gets out that you can loot better equipment for your computer etc then this may well be a very cool spin for Ma…(obviously only has limited appeal as gfx cards are ‘relatively’ cheap)
Now imagine if MA we’re to have a marketing campaign with the likes of Ford, Audi… etc 
As soon as vehicles are introduced into PE then it’d be cool to loot a part of or even a full in game model of a current car with descriptions for the item being such that they’re the only vehicle that has lasted the tests of time and space travel to get into the new colonized universe bla bla bla… but also, IF there was a chance to loot yourself a brand new RL version of one of those cars… that would bring absolutely SH1T loads of people into the universe… that could either be done by approaching the likes of mitsubishi or a another as the sole “cloned cars” of Pe etc which in respect to china alone (as mitsu is on there top 10 disliked car make lol) could gain them a large new kind of audience to there car range bla bla bla. and ahh actually i’m going into to much needless detail but you get the point.
One cool idea can be spun in many ways and provide many intriguing possibilities for all parties IF executed correctly!

nVidia is giving away the cheap stuff, should have mixed it up a little with a few 260 & 280’s. If they are XFX brand I may look the other way when they hand me mine.
Well done to MA on the partnership, sounds like a good move. Also really like the idea of more RL loots. Something like that would be awesome!

I’ll certainly be crossing my virtual fingers hoping to loot a new graphics card. I think this is an awesome step forward for MA - I can’t remember ever having anything of real value put in the loots to be sent home (I suppose some people liked the gold coins).
Now why don’t Nvidia have a virtual shop in EU, I’d love to be able to walk into a shop in a mall, chat to an Invidia consultant and purchase their products direct.

We acctually mentioned this (we=a few of the ambassadors) that it would be cool to loot computer parts and such, when we had the dinner with MindArk. I suppose it was probably in the planning before that. but still cool. Maybe some more stuff will come in the future, it would be a great way of the manufacturers to promote themself to gamers aswell =)

Hmm, just had this awful thought, what if the drops are depending on ingame activity like with the christmas presents ? like 1 chance just for being active, 2 chances if you have depositet, 3 chances if you also are an estate owner.
Would buying an appartment and deposit $10 increase chances :scratch2:

lol another thought, wouldnt it be cool for a crafter to be able to ‘craft’ some RLitems such as a gfx card… crafter finds bp.. or buys it… the cost to craft is such that it covers cost of the item irl (on average click/loot ratiobla bla) crafter can put this in there shop for sale… Avatar buys it in there virtual shop at a small markup (which resembles the markup gained by any normal online store etc, and the cost of the item to ship from nvidia (or online store partner) is only incurred by MA when item is purchased by avatar (much the same way as would happen with any normal pay per click site etc)) Price can be determined by RL market as much as PE market allows… and creates another dimension for P… this ofc will have draw backs and can end in potential loss or potential gain for the crafter etc (all depends on normal PE stuff, but results in a cooler purchase etc for the player)
