Firstly let me say i have never (over 3 VU’s) seen the widespread ‘boredom’ and mass quitting that has been experienced post the last VU…

PPl are offering me MM for 30kped or less, MOD Fap for 45k ‘before it goes to auction’ full angels male for 8k
Guys the economy/market has gone…
Now i had a discussion with Faustian on IRC a couple of weeks back where He argued the following
Drops of Im2870 will not affect either the MM price or the market as a whole ( :laugh: )
MM will not drop in price (it has)
PPL only sell when they quit (yet ive been offered 2 by ppl who are ‘selling out’ NOT quitting)
‘I know nothing’ (hmmm…)
So now we see a situation where many, many higher end weap’s normally the type i trade in have dropped DRAMATICALLY in price…
So i think to myself, shall i
A. BUY a load of them and wait (pray) for market to stabilize back to some previous normality
or
B. Cut my losses and sell out low before i loose to many hundreds of US$$
Ive decided to invest and stick it out…

But once again im keeping my faith!
I pray things pick back up, but this amount of leavers/sell outs has LOTS more ppl worried than im usually used to, and when you see the most expensive item in game halve in price…i start to worry!

This is how it works -
An item in PE same as IRL is only ‘worth’ what someone is willing to pay for it.
So, 2 weeks ago, all the hype about MOD FAPS and their assumed ‘value’ by the PE community or just the buyer who paid 70k+ for it, believed this to be the ‘value’ of it.
Now, really this item is only pixels/data blah blah on a server somewhere…
Its ‘value’ is as above created by the ‘buyer’
Now s the market stands, many are cashing out/quitting or selling all their uber gear.
This begins a chain reaction and others quit and/or get panicy about the market and begin to sell lower believing that the ‘value’ of their items are about to drop! :eek:
So 5 items ‘worth’ X amount flood the market where normally there would only be 1 or so at a time available.
Then the prices drop with each seller trying to be cheaper than the last with the hope they will find a buyer!
Hope that essay makes sense…

Markets go from irrational exuberance to irrational pessimism. In this case the market is heading for quite a substantial dive, but theres always money to be made somewhere
Think its a buying opportunity at present, to stock up with a few choice items ready for the next event that will cause new confidence in the market. Certainly its something I’m considering, althought I’m debating about whether we’ve reached the bottom.
new games get released, people that have played PE for years get tired of it and start playing the new games instead. Happens all the time and the market dives, and when the new games aren’t fun anymore after 6 months they come back and want their stuff so prices go up. In August the item values will be record high again, and drop during winter when the next batch of games are released. In general the uber item prices will keep rising if MA doesn’t start dropping more of them, even though a lot of people are quitting many more are joining.

You make a very good point il that many ppl share. It’s one thing to buy things in this game (and irl), it’s another thing entirely to earn them so to speak. Of course, ppl that do spend crazy ped on items have earned the right to buy them by simply having that much ped :laugh: But I always put those ppl that loot those items a little higher up on the pedastal
