Thanks for bringing this post back to life whomever did it. A couple of things in this post should probably give insight to others.
A) People keep saying, “OMG people are selling out! It’s the end of PE! The market’s going to crash!!!” Get real. This should just give notice of how long this talk has been going on?

Cool post. I would say we are kind of in a perdio of irrational exuberance now with the prices, but all i have seen so far is very serious inflation…perhaps a market adjustment would not hurt…

Hmmm.. 2 years ago, modfap was 45-70k.. lets say 70 just to be fair…
If any real country/universe had an inflation rate of 400% in two years, they would declare a national emergency, as the peoples of that country would be killing each other for faps…
The mod is special though, not very many out there.. lets say angel armor.. not nearly as special, yet it too is almost 400% up from when this thread was created. Many other items are up much much more..
I hope for the threadstarters sake that he did indeed throw his life savings into PE, and waited a year or so before selling 
Slightly off topic, but I live in a country that had 400% inflation a year for a while (about 15 years ago). To give you an idea how bad it was, the price of the bus ticket going back from work in the evening was often more expensive than the ticket to get there in the morning. The government managed to stabilize the economy eventually and the end-of-the-world did not quite come. Last year inflation was less than 1%.
i think the massive inflation on kinda rare items goes hand in hand with the inflation we see in über loots (tt wise).
2 years ago i think the #1 ath hunting was like 30k peds. mining as well. daily hof had maybe 1 entry with 1k or so. (numbers could be a bit off since my memory could fail me since that time i started playing pe but highest loots were around in that league)
today the #25 ath is 30k, normal daily hofs contain at least one 5 digit and several 4 digit loots.
so, when one is lucky enough to loot an big hof, it is often used to upgrade stuff. example: say i own a tiger set, loot a 10k pedder so i upgrade to angel. i dont mind overpaying some since i swim in peds and want the upgrade now as long i am euphoric about the loot. someone else who looted 5k today buys my tiger to upgrade from his jaguar, overpays some since he is so delighted about the loot.
to sum up my point: with increasing single hofs (ammount and frequency) people get a lot of cash in one minute. they purchase items they dream of for some time but didnt buy yet due to lack of some k peds.
Steffel, while you make a good point, I thought it was the advertising revenues that enabled larger loots… Maybe I was misled
