How far will 500 PED take me?

Before writing this thread i was unsure whether i should write it or not. I figured it wouldnt be a bad idea however, being that i always get flat out ignored asking questions in game

Like the title says, how far will 500 PED take me? I already got the deposit issue taken care of and i looked around and decided 50 USD would be the best deposit for me. Also, I want to get to a point eventually where i wont have to deposit much if at all, but FIRST I would like to know what it takes to get there. Granted, it’ll probably take more than $50 to get there.

I’m debating whether or not it’s even worth it to deposit. I read mixed reviews, horror stories, success stories, and unfortunately i seem to see more horror stories than success stories. This worries me. Although i realise there will be successes and failures, I dont want spend money, and potentially a great deal of money on something that will eventually become a huge let down in the end. It sounds virtually impossible to make money, you have to pay constantly for repairs, materials, and all this stuff to produce something worth 2 PED. (Massive exaggeration, of course)

So, the whole thing boils down to these questions:

  1. Where will 500 PED take me?
  2. How close can i get to almost deposit free play? (I dont expect to be super close, and please take note of my emphasis on the word ALMOST)

Even then i cant find the correct words for these questions (especially #2).
I’ve looked around the forums and nothing quite answered my question, and i know these are stupid questions but i need an answer. Thanks

answer to question1: not far, you cant even buy a mini sweeper v1 for it or a full set of male nemesis armor, female you might be able to if you look close, anyways, itll get you an mk2 for like 100 ped probably and some half-decent armor, not like nemesis, maybe you’ll be able to get a vigilante set cheap, furthermore, forget about cool looking clothes, they’re very expensive (500 to more than 1k ped) but you’ll look just as good in any other clothes. try getting a FAP50 for healing. if you decide to go pistol try the EWE-ep series, especially the ep 40 its a good one, but best value for money i would reccomend m2875 pistol.

and NO it rarely happens, but you’ll never be able to really get to a point where you dont have to deposit again! get it out of your head

i agree with most of what terra said mk2 is a nice weapon to start out with but get rascal or pixie instead of vigi or somthing mk2 will get you far enough and 300ish ped to hunt with cornys etc..

not true :stuck_out_tongue: i know a few people who dont deposit anymore. im going on 4 months without a deposit now but soon i might have to but it is possible dont get your hopes up.

Good luck in you r PE future

It really depends on what you want out of PE. If you want to be the baddest mofo around then 500 ped isn’t even going to get you to the doorstep.

However, I have played the last three months or so on 300 PED. You have to be very frugal and not indulge in anything. You can’t hunt the baddest mobs around.

I would say I can 99.99% guarantee you WILL have to deposit again at somepoint. How soon and how much is up to the way you play the game and what you want out of it.

Well,

500 PED are not going to take you anywhere - unless you like pure skill-hunting, which is low cost.

Personally I try to do everything a lot - mining, hunting, soeme minor crafting when I have the material. It is right now a ā€œplaying aroundā€ phase. This costs some money (mining is invetment heavy), but OTOH I made a profit crafing D1’s

My current budget is to get around 1000 PED into the game per month for the forseeable future - maybe 6 months or so. The problem is that skills have to go up first, and you better get skilling weapons for this, instead of doing real hunting - at least this is awhat I was told. Next week my next bi-weelkly 500 PED payin is due.

I am now around 900 PED into the game and I love it, though it constantly crashes my mashine (which looks like a hardware issue, but then I will get a replacement soon anyway) so often it is not fun. I get a lot better return now, from my loot, than two weeks before. Mining is tendious and I try to get training there, but UPC has not written ou ttheir new course yet.

Anyhow, forget 500 PED getting you anywhere - unless you TRADE and make a profit there. THen this investment may actualy take you to the ā€œplaying for freeā€ level, but it is hard time investment on trading then. But 500 PED are a good start to GET trading, because it allows you to buy some decent amounts.

Its true you dont HAVE to deposit! Until this monday I havent deposited since December. And I didnt need to deposit unless I was gonna buy myself something extra

Get full pixie, jester+amp or axes and lots of ammo. 450 peds ammo can well be enough for starting to break even.

Dont get fooled by thought that big weapons will make you break even. If you cant break even with lowest mobs, its not very likely you can with bigger ones either. Too many players just keep thinking ā€œI dont break even, I need to get better weaponā€. Answer is not to upgrade weapon, but to downgrade mob.

I have hunted exos/combibos/caudaterguses/cornundacaudas for last couple weeks with just normal jester/mph/axes + pixie and Im well on profit side now.

500peds can take you far if you are a miner i guess… this is how i started… my first deposite was spent on hunting then i started to mine became real profitable (hard to loose mining)… and i havent deposited since i started playing the game really…

i have only re deposited some of the peds i had withdrew through Strakkan  but that was for a adj fap… or full angels i forget…

still about up $1000’s including ingame stuff skill/equipment/paypal…

so to answer your question if you are smart.. and have a good mentor and learn to mine… hof like i have you will go far… with 500 peds..

well, i dont have really much skills, but once u passed 500 in rifle (and deposited 200$) u can break even with full vigi, ff 4400 OR ff8000 on atrax young, drones gen 1 / 2, molisk old… that kind of mobs.. i personally am doing that for a long time now, and i did not have to deposit from half february till soon… becouse i lossed a bit yesterday… but: as i said: u can easely break even if u hunt the right mobs of your size

If you’re going into mining, 500 peds will have you playing for a while. Then you just need some cheap pixie/goblin armor and an axe for defence, and the rest you can spend on equipment and bombs.

Well, I dont want to hunt the baddest mobs around necessarily. I want to craft and hunt on the side for fun. I want to get to the point where an occasional deposit and some crafting can support my hunting. I just want to play for fun

I’m not totally broke. Just playing free I have full goblin in near perfect condition, a jester d-2 and 23 PED to spare not to mention some spare items floating in storage.

I have, for now, the expenses of a weapon and armor kinda taken care of (kinda).

Devil Doll spelled out pretty much my train of thought. I dont want to necessarily hunt the baddest mobs around. To me, hunting is more for fun than money. For money i’d hope to craft. Eventually i want to reach a point where I can craft to support hunting and occasionnally deposit 10-20 USD when necessary.

Breaking Even

I have put more money in this game than I would like to admit

Why? well the game is for me(a senior citizen) a diversion from lack of interest in the things I used to enjoy

OK so I spend my diversion money in this game. Do I break even? Nope.

Do I come close? Nope

Do I have fun? HMMM Maybe. I smile a lot when and if I make a Global or that rear HOF 2 so far Globals 8

Yet I have had a conversation with a ā€œfriendā€ in game and the friend tells me that He(She) has not put a dime in the game in four years.

Do I believe this implication?. Do I dismiss it as a fabrication of imagination.

Do I take it as a stimulus to ā€œGo get emā€ and keep putting money in the game?

Well that for me is not the biggest question I am faced with every day I log on

The biggest question for me is that since I am a senior Citizen and all my ā€œFriendsā€ are either dead or infirm or can’t type or have no interest in life anymore, do I spend the time daily that I do in this game?

There are many others that I can play at a fairly cheaper value per hour than PE

But you know the old story.ā€œNever change horses in the middle of a streamā€

Too many friends have been made and at this stage in my life I have to hold onto what I have got.And that includes my wife.

So here I am and here I will stay and play and hope that maybe, just maybe, I can say that I have not put any more money into the game j  ust like the friend who has not put any money in for four years???

Good luck old timer

it takes a damned high level to make a profit hunting… if you want to break even with that 500 ped, thats the last thing you want to start off doing. it wont even buy you good armor and wep…
however, it WILL set you on the gravy train for 2 proffessions, all items bought tt (i.e. mining and crafting)…
although it will take a while to actually cover the 500 you deposited (about 1 month) itll be easier, but also more tedious, than hunting to recover.
to put it in perspective… iv played 7 days now, and have never deposited anything. i have made, all told, about 200 ped (and all the equipment you need for every proffesion)… but iv only made about 15 ped off hunting. its NOT the highest profit proffesion for startoff, by far. if your worried about the money, dont hunt, dude. from what i hear, it takes a few hundred bucks in deposits just to get to the point where you can regenerate those same few hundred bucks in deposits… see what i mean?

gravy train?

you’re playing the wrong video game.

nothin about this game is a gravy train. =)

[edit: err. not game. experience.]

and as for you zap 98.. deposit the $50 and see if PE ā€˜with ped’ is what you expect it to be.. any other video came costs the same.. plus, you can never ā€œfinishā€ this one. =)

I think everone has just about said it only other thing i would recomend is give yourself a monthly deposit limit and stick to it. I recomend ppl just to put in how much they would for other games say 10-15 US a month but if you can afford it putting say 30-40 will increase your fun but you can’t look at it that the more money you throw at PE the more you’ll get back.

lol… since i didnt deposit anything, the profit margin is infinite… so for calculations sake, lets say i deposited 1 ped to begin with. that means that between my spare change (about 200 ped) and my equip’s tt value (about 100 ped) iv generated about a 300% profit margin. for that matter, if you say i intitially depposited 1 pec, which is closer to the true amount, that would give me a 10,000% profit margin.
dude, if i could get 300% in 7 days off any bond, stock, or fund… id be bloody rich  so yeah… its gonna be a gravy train soon enough.
i already wrote a fairly extensive statement on how to make a profit hunting… but nobody read it, so im not going to bother updating it, and im certainly not going to write any 1-and-a-half page guides on how to make a profit on mining or crafting, etc…
dude, i pay my rent and morgage with games like this, and only play about 4-5 hours a day. that means that if this were a 9-5 job for me, id be making around a third-million USD a year. since my full-time as a linguist only brings 100k USD (approximately, but im also paying for college. take 30k off that) HELL YEAH i call that the gravy train.

You should forget about crafting, sadly, as it is the most unprofitable profession I know of (except throwing PEDs on the ground and/or PvPing  ). Some have made it by crafting but they all invested multi-thousand PEDs in skills and blueprints, as far as I know. :wise:

I allso say drop any form of (ranged-) hunting in case you want to get as far as possible.

Get yourself a full Rascal armor (full TT=~50 PED, marketprice ~TT+50-65), an FAP-5 (full TT=15) from the TT and a bunch of 1x0 axes (full TT=7 PED, marketprice ~TT+1).

1x0 axe is the most economical weapon as far as I know, it’s melee and it’s cheap. Happy hunting

If you care only for fun:
Get yourself an VAT-120(or -100/-110), possibly an BLP amp(expensive), full knight armor and go berserk
(If you prefer handgun go for the Maddox IV  )

Just for comparison…

I have deposited 1000 peds in my 7 month pe career. I have full rascal, pixie… hunt with 12 1x0 Axes, Justifier MK2+a102+scope, Fap 5 & 28. My Long blades is 1100 and rifle is 950 (of couse i have all the other skills that go along with those). I might be able to come with 1000 peds if i sold all my skills and items. I don’t ever expect to break even. I did have one month where i looted 3 gsi’s, so i didn’t have to deposit for a couple months. Of course how much you play each day has a big impact…i play about 2 hours a day.

I am pretty cheap in pe, i try very hard not to waste ped. Hope this helps in your comparison.

I dont know as long as you can take the monotony of Find mateials for good price, skill craft mech, metal, electric for a while. It’s not that bad. I was doing pretty good at it and was sticking to crafting as i was actually making some ped at it just skill crafting on filters, pumps, and servo’s.

My big problem with crafting is the market and that your constantly playing bid war on auction and Finding your materials for a descent price can be just to time consuming. mabey if i hof or something one day i’ll get back into it when i have more money to throw around. I would recomend armour crafting as it seems to do well with Rascal and Ghost and Goul armour in high demand.
