There could be/should be some solutions… MA just needs to hire a some security specialists to make it so. Could involve the one avatar per ip thing if mixed with allowing exceptions with a copy of the photo id of each one, as well as individual email account for each one, gold card for each one which uses both codes in the reader and in the email in combo, etc. Lots of possibilities. MA won’t do it though because they obviously don’t care as they’ve allowed so many multiple avatars in game for so blasted long and refuse to do anything about it, even if someone openly admits to it in public forums, in websites, blogs, etc.
As far as the comments about helping other avatars instead of paying ma transport fees, now that clds are here, and they plan to add that system to other planets eventually, they could make the transport fees go directly to the players as a part of that system if they wanted, and go a step or three further and make the use of the peds in that determined via voting booths, etc… just add the system to every planet so interplanetary auctions put half the fee to each planet involved in the auction.
My memory could be bad, but before space where you not one of the very vocal people claiming hanger owners where not getting a fair deal? Where you not one of the people bitching about other planets “mooching” of Calypso’s economy? It seems to me that MA has done a good job of seperating the planets now. Yet, you still bitch about that.
A market needs a large enough number of sellers AND buyers to operate efficiently. It needs this for every single type of item sold. Right now, I think we are lacking such numbers, so yes: an universe wide auction would be good. A fee could work, but it should be a low one.
This is how I feel about the current situation. Maybe when a planet is new it could have access to all auctions on other planets for a while until the planet’s economy is more self sufficient? Then the access would be removed.
If there were a lot of players in each planet then the current system “might” work … But in current situation …only way for the economy to grow is through open market.
Thats it - perfect and to the point. If you want to buy something from another planet but dont want to go there yourself and dont want to take the risk then just contact a spacecraft owner or an interplanetary trader and place your order. It doesnt matter if stackables or not.
Take for example the days after arkadia had introduced all the new blueprints and people were crafting there like mad - i got a pm asking if i could help supplying arkadia with lysterium and an estimate of what could be needed. So i bought out most of calypso auction carried all the lyst over to ark and relisted it there and everyone was happy and all the lyst i had listed was consumed within one week.
We have all the tools at hand to do it ourselfs we dont need more fees by mindark and in player hands those gains from providing a service go right back into the economy.
it is so far connected that it should be kept in mind when calling for a universe wide auction system.
As it would give people who do such things more slots in this auction then which normally they would not have and when people can auction universe wide it would make the competition even more uneven when people use “family accounts” without a real player behind to stock high on aucton without need to travel at all anymore.
A crafter for instance could targetly flood a competitors market from any place with his avatars without moving at all.
So this leads us to think about auctions slots on a potential new auction system before we think about a new system at all as it has impact on competition balance.
So its an existing matter which has influence on a universe wide system. Should be kept in mind before clicking “yes great” and the frustration comes right after.
edit:
what should happen to the auction costs? shall auctions which are done between planets cost some transfer fee ontop? if that is put in people wont use it. you may see still family avatars to be stocked to avoid the transfer fee. otherwise items get even more expensive. L items more uneco as sellers want the transfer fee not to pay.
cant see any real win situation for community.
mindark: cost to implement it (time / personel / resources) = mindark want a share
community: some pay ontop for that and some search ways to get around it.
