I’m not that old but got reminded that other day that i am getting older. My question is what reminded/reminds you that the newer generations are coming or that you are part of the newer generation???
The one i encoutered last week was:
Telling someone the respresentation of coolness is the Fonz and getting the reply “Who?” :banghead:
For those that don’t know The Fonz. Its the guy that had his office in the mensroom. Banged against the jukebox and it would play for him. Step on his motor and snap his fingers and have 2 babes (as i remember it) at his side.
Well there are a couple of things that make me feel old here recently. I guess I have finally hit the “sir” stage in my life. Had some knuckle head said “Sir here is your movie ticket” the other day Another thing which is funny I was going to see a movie with Will Smith in it (Men in Black II) and some kids in front of me were in dis-belief that he used to be a rapper. One of them said “did you know he used to write rap songs?” and the others jaw just dropped and was like “no way he did not” lol
What makes me feel young is still getting excited over movies, games, sci fi art etc. All my stupid collections of things bring me back my youth too :laugh:
Makes me feel old:
My knees cracking everytime I bend down
I still remembermaking boot disks to save an extra 1k of RAM by moving the sound IRQ
I know why floppy disks are called floppy disks even though they are not floppy
I remember the fonz! and Alf!
Knowing the lyrics the the lastest boyband song from the last time it was re-released
I actually used BNC networking!
I still weigh myself in stones and not KG
Learnt basic on an amstrad
writing HTML in notepad
Complaing that kids today cannot cook! ( this means you tiff )
I work in a school full of pre-16s who don’t know what monty python is!
Makes me feel young:
When I look at my birth cirtificate and it confirms that I am still only 21.
16 year old…looks more like 30 :rolleyes: only time you ever get asked for id mate is when u get on the bus coz they rekon u older than 16. dont bend the truth =P
What makes me feel old is when I walk past some kids and they say “Let this man through”. MAN??? I’M A GUY!!! FFS, you’re not supposed to be a “man” until you’re in your mid thirties…
And what makes me feel young is when people at uni call me a “fresher”. It’s what second and third years call first years like me for no other reason than they were called it when they were in their first year. My fantastically low resistance to alcohol makes me feel young too. Can get drunk on a tenner down the union
