Part time post man…
EDIT:
Postman as in I sort the letters the machines cant sort.
What happens is that an OCR machine tries to read the letter and see where its going. If it fails, the machine takes a picture of the letter and sends that picture to my screen.
I then have, in several steps, to tell it where to send the letter.
Step1: (Online, Country / Zip)
Here you read and type the zip code or country code. (4 letter code)
Norm.: 2000 pr hour
Step2: (AKS, street / number)
Here you read the firts four letters of the street number - followed by the number.
Norm.: 1200 pr hour
Step3: (HNR - house number)
Here you just type in the house number, insanely hard for the hands.. Its going VERY fast.. My personal norm is arround 3400 letters pr hour.
That comes to 1.05 second i “usually” take to read AND type the house numbers in.
Remember, this is the letters the machine couldent read… And its not like its some peice of cheap equipment.
Norm.: 2800 pr hour
Step4: (Selection)
From the firts four letters in the street name the whole street name can usually be found. If there is more streets beginning with the first fout letters (mostely streets such as : west-something street… or east-something street…) It goes to selection. I then get a list of all the street names there and have to select which street to send it to.
When I have selected that I have to see who lives on the given address. If the person in the computer matches with whats written on the letter. I send it… If not I throw it out of the system.. Then the letter will be sent back to the guy who sent it in the first place… So remember to write sender on your letters as well.. !!! :wise:
If no sender is on the letter.. A guy opens the letter to figure out who sent it..
Norm.: 600 pr hour
Step5: (Exception)
If Everything fails… The letter is sent to exception… Here a single person has to type in everything from the beginning again.. If its still not found.. its sent back to the sender..
Norm.: 500 pr hour
You sit in one “mode” pr hour. So one hour I just code selection and the next I could code HNR…
Its very stressfull.. but hey… the money is VERY good.. some 28 $ pr hour..
And on sundays its double :-p
