What developments do you (still) hope for in EU and how (un)realistic are they?

Those who have been here the longest are probably the ones who have had the most hopes dashed (or fulfilled). It’s a basic function of time I guess.
But what about the future? How has the past changed your knowledge, perceptions, expectations and dreams of what changes we will see in coming eons?

My avatar has now reached adulthood. In that time, technology itself has advanced to a point where, if enough data has been stored, we could all theoretically become AIs trained on ourselves, acting as agents in this virtual world and even elsewhere. The potential is somewhat mindblowing if you think about it.
However, a reality check also shows that potential can take one heck of a time to be achieved, if at all in our lifetimes. How have your hopes or expectations changed here over time as you have gained more ‘experience’ of how things have changed?

For me, I thought virtual worlds would be marvellous meeting place, from simply having fun to a place to learn and share knowledge in virtual environments. I thought what it might be like to share presentations and vidoes with people from all over and go global on Earth from our own living spaces. Even today it seems rather limited to me that people don’t sit around virtual tables, with the ability to move around the room, pick stuff up, whatever, that others can see too. It’s mostly just a straight video of someone and you can raise your hand or thumbs up in a very limited way.

Nowadays I’m much more focussed on the EU world itself and its functions. Will we ever ride our pets and have them fight with us? Will we all be able to place our own mob spawns somewhere: a more advanced form of temporary mission spawns maybe, or instanced? Will weapon choices become more important for different mobs? Will specific skills matter more than now on land, in water, in space? How will crafting and mining change, and other profs?

What do you think peeps? Will you be here in 5 or 10 years’ time, and what do you expect? I accept that pessimism could be playing a role in what we think here. How low are our aims, given the past? Are we going to see more font colours changing back to how they were? Is that it, or is there more?

I would like to see a auctioneer pet of some kind, cause why not.

I like the idea of ridable pets, but I do think a jetpack would be cool or maybe some shoes with rollerblades what’s it called Heelys

At the moment MA should have dropped absolutely everything they are doing and have 100% of their employees brainstorming ideas on how to get more people crafting and other ways to sink resources. Whether it’s puting some cool rare drops in like a prototype implant or another gems type of thing.. something that can only be got by crafting then keep it on crafting only, not later release it in a hunting instance like RDI or space mining. Or create limited items we actually need to use again since mining amps were killed. Or can make turn in a crapload of mats mission for something to sink mats whatever something to bring back MU. The rest can wait until after hah

I want to mute pets. And the new death sound. Please.

No idea where the AI-thing is heading in EU, but I assume those synths can be turned into the same bad-talking chat-bots like we’ve seen in so many places around social media or we can make them fall from cliffs or something. It’s still just AI, AI doesn’t know what it’s saying or doing, it’s hallucinating. And managers all over the world, who have no idea what AI is or how to use it properly, just want more AI. Let’s just hope that AI becomes somewhat useful in EU. Please.

I want more in the direction of Setesh and Aris. I have been on ARIS a bit now and running the maintenance tunnels feels like playing a game, I am challenged and having fun and not focusing on returns.

Stability overall. I want a more centralized game. I love Papoos and Mawloods but in my opinion the universe would be healthier without Toulan, Ni and RT. Cyrene is max distance any planet should be.

The ability to toggle a weapon to use TT ammo (weapon cells, blp pack, etc.) first rather than only use UA ammo first. If that were an option, then I could use other weapons besides decay-only since I want to use my UA for mining instead. Seems like it should be very feasible at least.

I know I can throw my UA into a vehicle if I know I’m going on a pure hunting trip with no mining, but those are few and far between, and it’s easy to forget. It makes it hard to track your costs when you don’t know if UA went to one profession or another.

6-a: Ventures into space will come in 2005. We hope to bring real time space ship combat with robot ships and other space living entities. Asteroid mining will also be a part of it. I envision a major star ship with a crew of 100 people all manning various functions of the ship, like engineering, guns, torpedos, strategic command, shields, power distribution, hull repairs, etc, allwoing for major epic battles in the sky.

At least part of it came near 2025… lol.

They only have about 20 years of backlog promises to catch up on.

Switch all melee weapons to use universal ammo.

Only if my above suggestion happens at the same time. Otherwise some of us actually don’t want those weapons using UA.

Bring back incentives to play the game.

Every day that passes by you sound more and more like Messi… ?

There are incentives but sure there could be more. The recent events created incentives and hopefully there is more on the horizon. Setesh and Aris was fun additions.

Sometimes it feels like people are just upset because they can’t just buy a MM at level 70 and grind aurlis for profit anymore.

Make it possible to list items on AH in PEC rather than whole PED then we might see a bit more stability with MU and new players will be able to sell small stacks

Ability to isolate and mute weapon sounds, new weapons that mix profession types I.E. Pyrokinesis & Clubs = Melee Mindforce etc. And how about we finish the abandon land plots?

i would just hope for some much needed bug fixes for ROCKtropia

Down scaling scope of the universe to one or few planets near Calypso until certain things are fixed. Right now MA seem’s to be spread bit too far labor and resource wise to fix all things nessecary.

Mind you i understand with limited staff and knowledge ticket priorization is realism.

PEC:s to AH listing and more moderated AH fees.

MU spread more between lvl brackets.

Keeping up with the events. ?

Keep those thoughts coming!
It’s a mix of smaller individual wishes and the general overall direction so far. By now there could be hundreds of little things, depending on what you all do.

I’ve not been and done the maintenance tunnels yet, but I imagine any tunnels will only reach being that sweet spot for a few people. What if there was a way to have tunnels whose mobs adapted to the individual players as they passed through to hopefully a ‘rewarding place’? I assume single-player instances that actually lead from one place to another might do the trick, or as part of a daily progression mission. Doesn’t the (bugged?) argo cave do something like that, with lower argos if you enter as part of a daily mission?
Just throwing it out there, as we now have various tunnel-like places around the universe, including that beginner instance with robots that used to be near PA, but got closed. Why not revive areas that don’t even need much in the way of development, but gave people fun back in the day?

Big things like new mayhem aside, I’d like to see the following: (as I think going back to pre mayhem era might be impossible)

Less daily stuff or at least a catch-up mechanic even if it’s less efficient. Why can’t I play when I want to? What if I have time for 16 hours today but not the rest of the week? Whats even the point of forcing people to log on every day to do trivial quests, but I gotta do them for 180 days? Makes me not want to grind those kinda things because I can’t be online every day. Let me play when I want to God damn it. xD this isn’t some mobile idle game or wow back in the day when we were all still kids.

Kinda ties in with the design of Aris. Why do you create a cool universe with all sorts of tech and vehicles and flying and teleports and then have a planet where you can’t and have to waste time slowly getting to places? It’s annoying AF. Kinda feels like a PnP where the dm is lazy so “we’re playing low fantasy, cuz it’s cool, you know” or some edgy shit.

On the plus side, I like where space is at right now. Only thing I would like to see there is that transport mechanic and something distinguishing space mining from real mining. Maybe space mining can be to mining what EP4/sharp recycle is to crafting? Maybe something else.

Auction house needs some work, there are some really cool ideas in other games, I’m sure MA has some gamer’s who have seen them.

But yeah, mostly I just rly don’t like dailys. Let me play when I want to.

I think the in-game economy is in the dumps currently because while they seem to have reformed the game to not revolve around Mayhem, they don’t seem to have replaced it with anything that leads to an equivalent amount of cycle. They need to add something that makes people want to cycle.

The new planet creation stuff seems like it could be years off yet. Maybe they should go ahead and create some kind of craftable input for those new planets and let us work towards it today.

We know almost nothing so far but let me just throw out a possible scenario.

If you’re going to be able to “craft” a planet by investing some huge amount of in-game resources, yet we currently know nothing about what those inputs might be. For now, create a BP for some kind of component that will be an input for unlocking player-made planets. Maybe make a BP for every item category like was done for the mining ships event. No, we don’t know how many will be needed. No we don’t know what else will be required in addition to those components. But if you can make these BP’s, release them with an announcement of intent, and have the inputs for these BP’s be broad-based to start creating demand for stuff again, I think it would really reinvigorate things. Give us a rough idea (subject to change) of how many of these will be necessary for different sized planets. Then my soc might have something fun to work towards.
