I’ve been thinking about what happened with the old forums, and it’s honestly hard to put into words. After I first wrote this, I looked it over and didn’t really like how it came out. This is more of an adjustment that still reflects what I’m trying to say.

It feels like we didn’t just lose posts. We lost part of what made Entropia feel like Entropia. There were years of history there. Conversations, arguments, discoveries. People taking risks, sharing ideas, building something that felt bigger than just the game itself.

I think about people like NEVERDIE and what that time represented. It wasn’t just a moment, it showed that what we were all part of actually mattered. I even wrote something about him recently, trying to capture that feeling, that he’s not just part of the past, but still part of the story.

We’re not just players. We’re a community living in a virtual universe. And losing our past over 25 years hurts. Not just the loss of content, but the loss of connection.

But the more I think about it, the more I realize it’s not completely gone. Not if we remember it. That history still exists in the people who were there, the ones who read those threads, took part in them, or were inspired by them.

The forum itself may be gone, but the experience isn’t.

So instead of just focusing on what we lost, maybe we can rebuild some of that in our own way. Share the stories we remember. Talk about the players who stood out. Bring back the posts and ideas that stuck with us, even if we can’t recover them directly.

We might never get the old forum back the way it was, but we don’t have to lose what actually mattered about it. No reason to lose it twice.

Before modern wikis and tools, it was just dedicated players sharing raw data in massive forum walls of text out of pure love for the game (and a desire to save everyone some PED).

  • The Hype: The pure, unfiltered excitement in the threads whenever someone swirled a massive, history-making ATH. The whole forum would erupt.

We might be looking at a blank canvas now, but the people holding the brushes haven’t changed. Let’s bring back the guides, the crazy theories, the screenshots, and the lore.

Thanks for posting this. Consider me locked in for the rebuild. Who else has a story or a piece of Entropia history they refuse to let fade?

And to be fair, old forum was mostly a pile of crappy sale threads that didn’t have prices specified.

Im not sure if you at least thought of the Title yourself. This AI slop is terrible. Id be ashamed if I couldnt even post my own thoughts about something I truly care about.

But I can agree, Entropia as we knew it is mostly gone and with every update even more. Some will stay, some will leave, but new people will come, and thats what MA wants anyways.

And I must say I do miss old PCF. Watching and playing Entropia in the last 2-3 years is like watching someone with terminal cancer. (Metaphor, dont take it literally… and before anyone asks, yes Ive seen a close person die due to cancer).

Adapt or Sellout Completely (MA pushing all the time closer to the second option).:smiling_face_with_tear:

We already lost a lot in game with removal of REAL events like old mayhems, not farming partys like now, and the one of the only thing that was really good (pcf) is now gone too for this … thing..

This forum is horrible in navigation, in layout, in making it personal. Like they did that because summer was coming and of course vacation- but like i said before- i’m happy the forum is and i can catch up.

stop using ai- use your own words even if you do mistakes- because this is how you learn, no other way.

end lets not forget about bugs that have decade now :slight_smile: or more.

It’s true, and I’ve never denied it. I use AI tools for creativity. I usually write the skeleton of what I want to say, and then let AI refine it so it doesn’t come across poorly or unintentionally offensive, but instead carries the tone I’m aiming for — nostalgic, personal, or professional.

I don’t see anything wrong with using AI for creative work or for helping me express myself. That’s literally why I pay for Copilot every month. But it’s not useful for most Entropia Universe topics. It has no access to loot tables, no access to the old forums, and it can’t even do basic web searches because of policy restrictions. It can’t see the page I’m looking at unless I manually paste the content into it, even when it’s sitting right there in my sidebar. I can’t rely on it for accurate advice unless I provide the facts myself.

But when I want to capture a certain tone, or when I’m writing something that could sound like a rant even though that’s not my intention, it’s extremely helpful. Your post — with AI — hit the tone perfectly, and you got a like :heart_eyes: from me for that.

Check my reply to @Art_Jennifer where I explain in detail how I use AI as a tool — because that’s all AI is to me: a set of tools, nothing more. Having creative tools available and choosing not to use them would feel like the real loss. I use Copilot for the things it’s actually good at, but you’re right: I always write out what I want to say first and then have Copilot polish it. It helps catch things that might come across the wrong way or unintentionally inflame people.

AI doesn’t do the work for me — it just helps me express what I already intended to say.

I get that some people feel strongly about AI, but I’m not using it to replace my voice. I write everything myself — AI just helps me refine the tone so I don’t come across harsher than I intend. It’s a tool, not a substitute. I still think through every word I post.

That’s awesome, @Proppen , that your posts going all the way back to 2005 made it through the fire. Would be really cool to see them again. Makes you wonder if they’ll actually be able to recover everything. There is so much history there for everyone. Definitely shows we need some way to back stuff up so it’s not lost again. Awesome :clap:

Does kinda suck that all the media was lost but hopefully they can recover some of that too.

It’s not that the old posts are missing, but they are just difficult to find and all images are gone. The structure here doesn’t work. Every new post drowns in other new posts. Perhaps one gets used to it, perhaps one doesn’t. A good forum has an easy overview. Yes, you can go to categories, but then the rest is ‘hidden’. I like the way ‘old forums’ are build up, but understand Xenforo is expensive and needs professionals to maintain and update/-grade. And this has other possibilities eg. the connection with EU main user profiles, which I assume has a purpose. Also, now it’s fully in the hands of MA and not a third party.

Ludvig confirmed they have the media and are looking into ways for that to make it available, for the rest nothing is lost

@Art_Jennifer I agree with you on round one of the post. I have edited it a few times until I got what I really wanted. I caught too much formatting and lack of clarity and sincerity. I chose to begin posting pieces of information for the rebuild this morning and while AI helps me, I use it more as intended and for inspiration. Hope you like future posts and look forward to your contributions.
