Walk dont run

Anyone heard that little tune from the ventures from the 60’s? Walk Don’t Run…see’s blank stares

Anyway…

Running around in my usual hunting grounds which has a MASSIVE herd of combinos and others (over 50 in the herd) and i started walking instead of running, mostly cause i lost my lighter and was looking for it. After clearing out the herd and walking all the time i cut even again on the PED’s spent on ammo…and went back to Atlantis with 350 fruit and 100 dung

When taking out a big herd…WALK…DONT RUN!

But dont forget, time is money

Or if hunting on a budget… Poo is money

Its mostly luck, but yeah, walking helps. I believe there is a guide for finding fruit on here, if someone wants to do a search for it.

There’s one here

Is there a way I can view it without having to register? I mean I tried to register but there was a problem with that anti-robotic validation where you have to put in the letters you see. I typed what I saw, but - error !

 I was never any good at those visual puzzles…

EDIT: Never mind… It worked after the umpteenth time…still I have to wait for administrative validation.

I sense theres some strange force at work here to keep me from discovering fruit. =\

yeah same issue maybe somone can qoute it from there to here.

Here tis.

maximum visible distance of fruit/dung
papplon/dung 4.7 meters all others less but no less than 4.2 meters on flat land. And yes, the Z axis (up down ) does matter.

Spawning of fruit/dung
As in mining, fruit and dung have recurring spawns. Also, as with mining, a fruit/dung spawn can move - usually not too far so you can hunt around and find the new spawn. Maximum spawn move noted to date 137 meters.

Where to find fruit/dung
It’s literally everywhere. On land, on mountains, in the water, it’s everywhere - just like ores/enmatter. Are some places better than others? yes! or some places worse than average? yes! why, that’s just like mining. And just like mining, there are some areas where you just won’t find fruit at all and like mining ( adjusting for scale of couse ) these completely dead areas are so few and far between they aren’t worth noting.

So, you want to find some fruit/dung and make an income or supplement you income. Here’s what you do to start.

  1. find a relatively flat and open area. You don’t want a lot of brush and trees around in the beginning. After you get used to finding fruit/dung most brush and trees won’t be much of a hidnerance but some still will be quite annoying - like the brush that is found around Ithica.

  2. most areas of the game have “corn rows” on the ground running east west on the ground. It’s just the result of how the ground texture is rendered on older areas. New areas, like Amethera, do not have typically have the corn rows. For a beginner fruit/dung walker I strongly suggest finding a spot with the corn rows.

  3. with you relatively flat, relatively open and corn rows on the ground area selected you’re ready to start walking. Line up on a corn row, click the sky to start autowalking, and just keep your feet on your selected corn row. Walk long enough you will find fruit/dung. Typically I walked 600 meters before turning around.

  4. turning around. stop moving, side step 6 corn rows, turn around and click the sky. If there are no corn rows then sidestep 7 or 8 full animations of the side step action. You should be between 8 and 9 meters from where you finished walking the last corn row.

  5. when you see fruit/dung PICK IT UP! duh. No really, note the location of the find at the least if you’re just interested in getting fruit/dung. If you’re also looking for a small ammount of insight into how ore/enmatter spawns and changes over time note the type and size of the fruit/dung spawn as well.

  6. fruit/dung respawns just like ore/enmatter. So either after a day or two or three you can go back and find it again in the same general location as you did the last time. Hence the good idea of noting where it was you found a fruit/dung packet. Typically there is a central spot and the fruit/dung respawns within 100 meters of that spot, usually within 50 meters of where you last found it. If you record the position of your finds then over time you will be able to determine where the central spot is and make it that much easier to find a fruit/dung spawn that has moved. I’m not sure if ore/enmatter has this same central spot to the respawning.

  7. After walking an area for the first time wait three days then do it again. The second time through you are more or less just verifying the spawns are close to where they were last time. Some areas are very stable, some are not so stable at all - why thats just like mining. If on the second time through an area you find most of the spawns are in the same area as they were last time than you have a stable area that will produce for weeks just as it produced the first two trips through. At some point it will change and you will have to re-walk it to redetermine the spawns. But having noted where the spawns are you can drastically cut down the fruit/dung collection time by just returning to those temporarily stable spots and walking around for a few minutes instead of covering the whole area.

Cool The game is a lot more fun to play if you have peds. fruit/dung walking is time consuming and requires quite a bit a patience. I strongly suggest depositing. For the time spent fruit/dung walking you could have done something in real life that would earn you more real dollars then peds you would make fruit/dung walking. Deposit the real dollars and for time spent you are way ahead of the game and having more fun. I strongly suspect that collecting scrap metals ( aluminum and copper fetch good prices ) and taking it to your local metal recycler would earn you far more peds in the same ammount of time spent doing the same thing except one you do in a game and the other you do in real life. So, walk for fruit/dung in the game or walk for scrap metal in real life. up to you but I’m pretty sure walking for scrap metal would be quicker peds.

What to do with the peds you earn fruit/dung walking? Earn more peds with them. The hardest thing for a none depositor to do in this game is to earn a starter stash of peds. Take what you earn fruit/dung walking and use it to trade with. Spend only the trading profits on having fun. You will always have some peds to trade with so you will always have a way to make more peds when you run out of your “spendable” peds. What you won’t always have is a dependable price for the fruit/dung you find. Some weeks/months it just will not be worth walking for fruit/dung and you need another source of ped income. Having a stash of peds to trade with set aside from when fruit/dung prices are high is what to use for trading to have that other source of income.

and as always with anything that has an element of luck to it, your experiences may vary greatly.

I find it easier to spot fruit zoom out in 3rd person mode. With the camera angled down towards your avatar by about 45 degrees. A tip for those that cant be bothered to search for fruit is to walk backwards when engaging with a mob when hunting. You have more chance of occasionally finding fruit/dung this way.

Use the Chikara Energy Refiner ER100 out of trade terminal. Ofcourse it tells you this if you right hand click the fruit or sweetstuff
