VU 7.6 Sneak Peek
I’m really wondering what this means exactly, the skillchips shows the current level of the avatar and the level after using the chip. So I guess it could show the weapons real “damage?” and the possible “damage?” with you’re avatars skills…

I’m wondering if this will lower the maximum damage, etc done by the weapon or if it’ll be possible to go past the weapons maximum damage and do more than it used to be possible to do… perhaps this could increase the reload on the weapons aswell, I’m not sure, what do you think it means?
I think it means lowering the maximum damage by the skills. I mean if you have done 28 dmg as maximum with 1x0 axe with your skills maybe you now do 25.

Yeah, that’s more or less the only thing I could think of aswell… because I doubt they would ever increase the maximum damage, or change the stats of a weapon into the better… So I guess this could be a really negative feature, especially for low-skilled people, unless it’s possible to increase the stats to the better somehow, but I guess that would be bad for the economy…

hmm its not that nevative, then the rich people cant be uber players just by bying big ass guns for a hell load of money.. they need the skills to use it and they can see how far from the real dmg they are…

I guess there’s a bunch of different ways this feature could work, but if it works like I think it will, it’ll add an extra field in the stats section of the weapon.
One field tells you the weapons maximum damage and the other field tells you the maximum amount of damage your avatar is able to do with the weapon.

Currently, even a noob avatar is able to do the weapons maximum damage, even though he won’t do it as often as a veteran player. But with this system, his maxmimum damage would be lowered, aswell as the economy.

But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Actually I appreciate that, being almost at lvl 6000 in longblade its annoying that U hardly ever do damage thats in the last 10% range of the max dmg. Using repaxe 1x0 I should always do full dmg, well - I never does. and with katsuichi honor/valor/pride/determination its pretty rare I do in the 10% range…

So proberbly (hopefully) for me that change will mean for me - that instead of the last 10% is rare it will be normal and it will be rare I do the lower 90% dmg. Well I dont expect that, as it prob will cost MA more money and they therefore might not have as good a money machine on me then

What I would have hoped for was more item drops, any of that Marco?

WTF happened to the event system? VU 11.3?
And when will the voting terminals be brought back online as Marco said they would be… the silly things are just sitting there looking stupid…

This is the mining/crafting update. I guess we soon will have another update with more stuff. This year, it seems that updates have been focused on bug fixes mostly.

It is more skills then LB that count. Also I am sure that you do more dmg then a new player. It seems that average for average player is between 55-70% and it is all about balance.

My guess is that there will be no changes whatsoever to the damage the weapon does. Instead, the new stats will show you how much YOU do with your current skills.

This is good. This is extremely good. The dam/pec or dam/sec stats were pretty useless, seeing average damage is different (and constantly changes) per avatar.

Take into account the new way of viewing the actual average damage etc, and we’ll be able to tweak all the charts, possibly even building in stats based on skills. It might also be a way to find out which particular weapon you would optimally be using. In my opinion, this will ensure more economical hunting, though I doubt that was MA’s intention

With every new VU the expectations of the community are rather high and the fall after installing could be hard for some people.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the new VU, even when I dont expect too much. Dont see this comment in a negative or whining way. I prefer bug fixes of known problems (e.g. FAP) before MA starts new experiments.

Any improvement is welcome, any extention is wanted. To get a new VU is the same when ur country gets a new government. They promise much but u never know what u really get. Hopefully it becomes better in future but it is not a must.

Here you got the points.
About MA’s intention, I don’t agree. They get income from decay and if some weapons with high decay seems to be better to use in an ecomomical way for several avatars, MA will get even more income from decay. :silly2:

Anyway, I am very satisfied with personal stats on weapons.

/Kjetil

if that skills/avatar/watching stats would have been implemented when i bought that damn plasma anihilator

Personalized stats

As far as i have understood it, its just the DISPLAYED stats that will be personalized. The damage you do is already personalized.
example (might have changed, but shows the idea)
[li]With Sollomate outbacko and 0 skills you do 55% damage on average.[/li][li]With Sollomate outbacko and qualified laser sniper (1k skill average) you do 65% damage on average.[/li]
The percentage is percentage of the weapons max damage.

The problem is that if they REPLACE the current stats that are displayed, there is no base for comparing weapons anymore. If a noob loot a EP-53 Tigerslayer and post screenshots of it the stats will be totally useless, as the noob will show different stats than people with more skills will display. Therefore all our screenshots and charts are TOTALLY useless. As it is now atleast all screenshots and stats are based on the weapons actual stats and not what a particular user will get out of it. Therefore i hope they just add some sort of Chance of Success filed like the minforce chips or an extra “your stats” column rather than just replacing the current stats.

I really don’t think they will replace the stats.
Reason for that is that they want to show the ability on how much damage a new player can do with the weapon so he has some goals to reach.
I think they will have personal stats as extra fields in the database depend of the skills for the user. How it will be visible for each player, I don’t know, but I think we will have them as an extra line in the stat-menu of the weapon or it will be an extra column after stat that is named “personal stat” now.

I am sure that you are correct that the “stat-change” is only for visible stats. +rep for you.

Hmm… but will the claim deed record the amount of ore already mined? If not then there is a danger of someone mining almost all of a big find then trying to sell an almost empty claim :frowning:
The deed dynamically shows the current deposit size.

We have three major systems coming soon as well (no ETAs, but they are top of the list atm); Factories (mass production, contenr for all ranges of participants), event system, and an item enhancement system.

Among other areas…

Sorry to sound like a miserable sod, but is there any chance of implementing some new and intersting features. Most of the VU seems to be is tweaking stuff. Hats of the MA for listening to player requests and implemeting, but as for game development, well where is it?
The last development if I am not mistaken was hairdressing and beauty!
C’mon MA, surely you can do better.

No, there are added fields in the Items Info. To my knowledge, no fields have been removed (else my stressed mind has forgotten something).
