skill chips veiws

Some peoples veiws on skill chips are bad, because they think they are “cheating” as they are getting the skills without doing anything. Some veiws are that they are good because you can get skills easyily.

Im still undecided about this.

what are your veiws? :argue:

Imho Skill Chips are nice for raising your skill over that slowdown.
But with chipping skills you only raise ONE skill and not the rest that is intertwined with it…
Say for example you chip evade… but to succesfully evade you also need alertness, combat reflexes,… so I think it gets a bit unbalanced…

I agree Shinobi. Chipping seems to be the way most people go for the slowdowns… but like you say, there are many skills which come into the equation when you want to reach your desired effect… ie. medical, defense blah blah :wise:

I have no problem with chipping. Allthough I hold true to my view of it: It’s useless to chip for dmg, better to chip for medical/evade reasons

I consider skills something that should be earned, not bought. If you don’t acquire skills yourself, then in truth you’re no more experienced than you were before.

I think to each his own.
I do like the fact that disciples can’t get them though.

Personally, I like earning my own skills. Yes, that means I’m slower in gaining them, and I’m way behind the people who’ve bought them.
I just love the feeling I get when it says, “You’ve gained a new rank in Shortblades” for example. It just feels good to know that I’ve worked for it.

Thats the same as i feel i work for my skills so ill never be the best, but what i do have iv worked for :girl:

I like to have low skills. “You have gain a new rank in…”-msgs come much more often then :dunce:

Why not just buy equal amounts in all skills then?
Some people have a snobish attitude about chips but they are here in the game and need to be accepted. I’ve seen members of most socs listed in the ‘top 10 most skilled’ list using them, some in excessive amounts.

I sold all my skills and made a very nice amount of peds from them.

It comes down to a choice between time or money and i think its irrelivent how you get the skills - you can stand fapping in a ring for 6 months or you can ‘chip it’ and have the same skills in 20 seconds but at a higher price.

Actually, chipping is probably cheaper. Take the cost of repairing a fap for 6 months of constant use, or buying a chip. Grant it you only get the one skill, but chipping isn’t really more expensive in the long run. I don’t have a problem with it… except for the fact that I can’t use them until I finish my mentorship…

I dont like chipping, especially not since with some cash you can chip yourself to
uberness in 1day

 I am willing to bet that MA disagrees with you there!

I’m for either. If i had tons of disposable income i might do it. Since i dont. You will see me fapping away.

Suicide

Personally, I think the skillchips are necessary to give a value to skills. If someone wants to buy them, what do I care? It doesn’t effect me one bit.

I think it is silly all of these ppl that get bent out of shape at folks that buy skills. Why do you care what someone else does?

for most people PE is about aquiring skills while enjoying themselves, for others it is to be better skilled than everyone else.

Knuckles, are you saying it would be okay for someone who has played for 5 years and already has 8k skills?

yes i know one noob that was good laser sniper before chips, and know he is a superior laser sniper by the chips…i think you know him too

I dont mind people doing it, but Ill always have respect for those who are highly skilled without the chips.. I wont have the same respect for those who chipped themself there, as easy as that.

Now, Im going to skill and hunt my way into uberness (even if it takes a few decades).

Plus its better to earn skills yourself for the agility and such,

what about someone who is 50/50 though?

eg: Starman is lacking in engineering - he buys 10 chips to take him from 0 to 4k. Have you lost respect for him?
And how would you even know he did that?
