Selling Skills

Something’s gotta change about selling skills. I mean you can list implants 5x easily without a sale and paying all those AH fee’s. I mean you pay taxes for skills and then pay multiple more times in AH fees(Tax) to even attempt to sell with no success. Mindark maybe you need to come up with a new demand feature, where if people are interested in skills they buy ESI and list in some NPC their requested skills and mu% willing to pay. Sellers can then just go up and find the skills + markup % and just fill buyers ESI. I don’t obviously know the long term affects of such implementation but current system is trash.

Too many skills to sell, not enough players to sell to.

Maybe make AH fees lower for skill implants?

Which is why I suggested a “Demand” feature.

You mean “Auction Orders”?

Yes, would be great if we could ORDER (L)imited items.

I mean something completely separate from AH an individual NPC that pretty much acts as an order with demand for specific skills that the buyer looking for with their own markup % and sellers can come up and just inject their skills into a preloaded TT value ESI. Since the skill seller has been taxed already(Playing the game) Why should they have to lose 10% skills, lose AH fees many times over?

Because losing 10% skills and AH fees is how Skills and PED are burned in the economy.

The skill burn is part of stopping skill inflation, there should actually be more ways to burn skills.

The auction PED burn drives deposits, unless I missed those being returned to players somehow?

Listen… I am not sure you are picking up what I am putting down. I don’t care so much for the 10% but also if there is a demand feature for specific skills, might actually be pretty easy to get your hands on them for a pretty competitive price, also why do the sellers have to take on the heavy cost? 10% skill loss, AH fees till sale, tax on gaining skills. Buyer pays markup only. At least if there was a specific setup where maybe buyers setup orders with specific skills they are interested in and sellers paying nothing more than the 10% skills I can see this work still.

Cramen, I get what you’re asking for: you want buy-orders where the buyer supplies the ESI, sets a target skill + markup, and you just dump your skills directly into their order with zero listing fee risk and zero up-front ESI cost.

The problem isn’t that people don’t understand your idea, it’s that you’re asking MindArk to remove the exact money-sink mechanisms that make the skill economy work for them.

AH listing fees are non-refundable PED sinks. If you fail to sell an implant 5 times, MindArk successfully burned your PED. Shifting the fee or ESI burden to the buyer eliminates listing fee decay from unfulfilled supply, which cuts into MA’s revenue stream.

Under your system, a buyer has to lock up liquid PED and an ESI in an NPC, waiting passively for someone to chip out into it. Buyers aren’t going to sink PED and ESIs into stagnant buy orders for niche skills when market prices fluctuate daily.

The 10% skill loss on extraction is a deflationary sink to stop higher-level skills from becoming worthless. Complaining about paying “taxes to gain skills + 10% loss + AH fee” is just listing the core sinks of EU. Every transaction in this game is designed to bleed PED somewhere.

If you want zero AH fee exposure, use Trade Channel or find a reseller directly. Asking MindArk to build an NPC that removes listing fee decay and lets sellers offload risk for free goes against the foundational design of Entropia’s real-cash economy.

Its great you are looking out for Mindark. I also find it funny that you think selling skills alone is a huge deal breaker for Mindark, like as if this one instance changing would be absolutely catastrophic. Don’t you think maybe people who are demanding skills and people fulfilling those demands a lot easier with less taxation on one side would allow for people to skill faster into specific items thus allowing for more cycling and maybe more AH listings? I mean if Mindark was so keen on AH fees why the hell don’t they give us more AH listings? Also the demand fee would be on the buyer, not the seller.. Seller takes on the 10% skill loss.

Lets not forget, this is just a suggestion with no idea of its true affect on game’s economy.

It’s just a dumb idea. You’re trying to shift the costs from the Sellers of Skills to the Buyers of Skills when there’s an abundance of supply (skill sellers) vs demand (skill buyers).

This problem is solved with more players in Entropia. Go out, use the Recruit a Colonist and Mentorship systems, get rewarded and bring in more players. You can then sell your skills directly to the players you bring in and always have buyers.

The problem is always going to be a lack of new players in the pipeline because this is a pyramid shaped economy and it’s currently inverted like a funnel instead of a pyramid and that upends the entire economy system.
