Not to fix this, but have had it confirmed its ok to use a third party reticle. Essentially just a graphical overlay, presumably as long as thats literally all it is.
But agreed, this bug is annoying as hell and needs fixed.
What i do to get it back is target a mob and while shooting it, turn camera around so target disappears from view and when you gett it into view again the sight appears. Like do a 360° with the camera more or less
flakey code sigh! today EU crashed my bluetooth speaker so bad it crashed on windows - the only fix was to switch the sound to wired, reconnect the bluetooth, switch the sound back to bluetooth and restart the client (as you could imagine not just one or 2 restarts and reboots). the reason it crashed was i forgot to turn on the bose bluetooth speaker when i loaded the game - good code (like from already built API sound pkgs) could deal with that.
Easiest way I fix it is pull the gun with scope and just zoom in and out, its a bug thats been around for too long and would be nice if it could be fixed though.
Don’t know if it works the same for scopes, but, one way to replicate it for our main reticle, hold the mouse 1 button on a mob, drag the mouse, let go of the mouse 1 button. This happens to me by accident sometimes, and I repeat the process to get the reticle back.
It’s a bug that has been here a long time (even before UI change)- probably the one that bothers me the most as it happens so often. I use to “shake” the camera quick in different angles to get it back. I think it happens more often if you have “locking enables view” or what that setting is called so you can target mobs that are not visible directly on the screen or line of sight - and especially when you kill many mobs quick and your avatar switches from one side to the other
The issue happens in 3rd person view, with Freemode option enabled.
Selecting a Mob which is not visible, like behind the avatar, will remove the reticle.
To set it back:
[ul]
[li]Indeed zoom in/out if possible,[/li][li]Or do the opposite action: move the camera view between you and the mob, facing you, back to the mob, then the recticle comes back. If the mob is very close, it’s not possible, so wait for next mob.[/li][/ul]
The issue don’t appear if you don’t have Freelook option enabled.
Ticket created years ago, closed, never fixed.
That’s the reason why I now hunt in 1st person view.
Was not really able to change with camera mode right away, it took few tries. At a later date I tried shaking the camera, but scoping in/out is the fastest, for me.
@Ludvig|MindArk - help us out, is this a known bug to the team or something new? It’s very old and still very annoying, even if we have ways around it…
Thank you!
Bump, @Ludvig|MindArk - help us out, is this a known bug to the team or something new? It’s very old and still very annoying, even if we have ways around it…
Thank you!
I have spoken to the team about it. We will look into it based on what’s been mentioned already, but any further information on how to reproduce the bug or when exactly it happens would be very helpful.
I was able to find it in one of my videos. At 39:22 it disappears. It actually fades away. And it seems to be because I locked on a mob that was outside “view”, I think.
