Good question, ill add rep to you for that question, i rearranged the rep button so it will prolly increase now.
But, to get reputation there needs to be posts, new good threads would ofcourse be better, the less threads/posts the less rep.
The forums just started, we need to spread the word and get more people in, then im sure it will be used much more.

But yeah, people will get used to using it eventually. If someonesays something and you think “Hey, that;s right, I appreciate that someone took the time to say this”, then hit the rep button.
It can be used in a negative manner of course
