Poll on removing auto aim

I just voted on the new in game poll about auto aim.

Just to let you know, for some of us with disabilities this is not a yes/no choice but simply “I can’t play this game without it.”.

You cant move your mouse at all? Damn, that sucks.

Anyway, I think auto aim should be removed.

I hope there is another solution for you.

now that they implemented Synths, i demand equal rights for all, and therefor proper bot- and AI-functions for everyone

I voted yes because the way it is right now is stupid. Some players use 3rd party software to gain an unfair advantage while those who see this as cheating are essentially unable to compete.

I think that in order to make things fair autohunting should either be available to everyone through an ingame feature or it should be banned for everyone with no exceptions.

Agree, but what would be done with those who gained said advantage earlier? Reset progress? Bail out? Ban?

Anyone that says Yes. You are Dumb.

Another example of MA pushing this game into extinction

That’s a good question, I don’t have an answer but using the banhammer feels like too much since it was kinda allowed by the devs.

Yep

Really weird poll, someone is drunk at the office ? :joy:

(IMO it’s not related to the bots topic, as they said they are implementing features to identify them, and are AI champions.)

I really wish they focus on fixing the bugs instead of constantly annoying their playerbase with unwanted changes.

Wouldn’t mind some bug fixes either.

I think they either just did the poll to be able to show as proof that the majority of players don’t want autoaim removed and/or just to get some data on it. There’s no way they could be that stupid to remove it. Their income would sink to nothing, our return %s would go even lower just for MA to make same $, and would crash all item values as UL purpose wouldnt really be needed as much anymore.

If bots is the target they need to use the AI shit to find them instead.

If raising the floor MU is the purpose then this is a terrible way to do it altho would be semi effective.

When are they going to learn we just need more resources sinks thru crafting and focus on that

I voted “NO” (=keep things as they are now : with “auto-target the next creature” by pressing -F).

Manual Selection of each single mob means that everything is more sensible to lag : all those experiencing lag, even temporarily, will be disturbed by that.
And some mob-types are quite annoying to select (small mobs, fast mobs, birds, etc).

Manual Selection of each mob means “less player activity, and more fatigue” : players will hunt less and quit hunting faster due to stress/fatigue caused by a repetitive activity that is more demanding than “auto-target the next creature” (by pressing -F) .

So, NO Thanks.

Paul

-UPDATE- Reading Evey’s message below, I see this quote :

So I have modified the 1st version of my message (still I prefer a “NO” as answer to the Poll, anyway I agree with the aim to fight botting : let’s just find a different way to eliminate botters).

Have people already forgot how we used to do things before the “F” button came into the game? Just use “Auto use tool” and next target if you don’t want to click the mob. It actually gives you more control and works great. They are just talking about the F button here so keep you pants on

Removing F will make hunting better because people will have to pay attention again

The way I understand it is that we will still be able to auto-shoot, just that we will have to manually aim and lock onto targets.

I am voting Yes, but I really hope this comes with enforcing this system, so that players don’t compete with AI-prompts-made-macros and indeed have to aim manually each mob. Pretty sure some people will have a blast hunting with 105-110% markup oils

So maybe they should explain us what are the expected benefits they see… ?

I use keyboard only during my hunts, and am not really willing to target each mob with mouse.

Stopping bots? Nanocube stable 102%, regular oils 105-110%?

This is a video game and a real cash economy one. If you’re not willing to right click mobs for markup, others will be, I’m sure. Especially if they’ll know the bots are gone.

Annoying 99% of the hunters to solve an issue of 1% botters is not a solution. I’m sure they have better plans for this issue.

I don’t care about MU, I play to relax, and I doubt the MU will suddenly raise.

How about using the “Lock Target”? Just keybind it to whatever key.

This will not annoy 99% of hunters. Those that it will annoy, there will be others eager to take their place

Pros and Cons on that one. What I do not understand though is why THIS is the priority. There are so many other and more important issues to focus dev-time on, such as the still buggy sound on ARIS (and around several other places on Caly, such as Orthos West, the swamp NE of PA etc etc), the free yet buggy flats (I don’t think the disappearance of placed items was resolved yet), or simply that there are still no books for the plethora of UL fishing/cooking BPs (even though the BPs themselves hint at specialised books). The list goes on. So, again, I am confused about why that auto-targeting-feature is suddenly an issue.

With that being said, keeping auto-target leads, arguably, to a somewhat “easier” and more relaxing gameplay. Removing it means a bit more hassles for bots, but would tackle some of the mess botting creates economy-wise for the active playerbase. Personally, ever since fishing/cooking came out and auto-loot buffs became a luxury, I play more actively with the mouse as I need to click for looting, and I find myself targeting the next mob manually along the way. A bit slower hunting, yes, but also somewhat more engaging and fun. To be honest, I am thorn on that one … but I see how it would help to raise the MU of hunted loot by preventing those click-bots masquerading as players to flood the market.

Difficult one … but frankly, as an old programmer, I must go here with the old saying “Don’t change something that works.” My fear is that once it’s go-time for auto-targeting-feature removal, the auto-use-feature will go with it “by accident” … and that would be bad on so many levels. Therefore, as a pragmatist, I went with NO in the poll, as much as it pains me to say that as an actually active player.

I voted No on removing as I believe said botters will still find a way to bot hunting and legit hunters will lose any chance to come at least slightly close to the botters efficiency, at least when they are online and present. And unfortunately it may hurt MA’s sustainability in the short term, in the long term it could mean more happy players cycling more so the gap created at first could potentially close.

But ideally i would want it to be removed and botters squashed so people play on fair terms. Players that are willing to put in the effort should be rewarded.
