Pick Female or Male on Looted armors

There is a huge imbalance in the game when it comes to looted male armor parts versus looted female armor parts, which causes big price difference. For example, 110% for Infiltrator reworked thighs (F,L) versus like 157% for the male version (observed recently). Or below 110% for female Mayhem (F,L) armor parts, while male version is often 140% or more. Big price difference.

This can sometimes cause a feeling of unfairness and so should be mitigated somehow. There have been threads offering some solutions for this, like allowing avatars to change their sex or introducing a new tool that allows someone to change the sex of the armor part or clothing.

But I think a simpler and fairer solution would be to let hunters choose the sex of the looted item when the drop occurs. So for example, a hunter loots a pair of Mayhem Arms, the loot system would prompt the hunter to choose male or female, and once the hunter chooses, the Arms he chose would drop (go into his carried inventory).

This would be good because it gives the hunter more control over the outcome and mu involved with his or her hunt; the hunter can choose between getting an item that he or she can use himself or herself, or the one that would give the most mu upon selling.

All by itself, this would resolve the descrepancy between the mu of the female version versus the male version. No other changes needed.

OR!
Hear me out here!
Just remove Male and Female versions of armors completely and make all armors universal, this would balance out all markup on both limited and UL armors that are very rare in some cases (or dont even exist as far as I know; such as eMINE female UL(atleast I’ve never seen it))
This would make it much easier for both sellers and buyers with sales and purchases.

Or better, let the male or female counterpart be able to equip any armor part, male or female. :stuck_out_tongue:

I back nick Seventia idea.. remove Gender from Armors, keep for Vanity dress (please dont let me see some male avatar in fishnet i am too old)

I am also in favor of removing the gender requirement from armors. Only reason I can see it being implemented to begin with was either lazy coding or to make people not use the armor they looted themselves.

Removing gender for armour wasn’t something they said will come UE5 ?

Balance and QoL wise i like idea of having gender neutral clothing/armor.

But, what happens to MU after this? ?

Add together all historical sales for both the male and the female version and the system will average them automatically.

but UE5 will never come XD

who said that ?

I’d be suprised if it ā€œaverages outā€.

You take away only factor that drove MU up.

Double the supply in this economy.

Usualy that means back to 100% TT range. Might be beneficial for shop owners, and traders not so much for AH sellers.

How many people will go thro effort to sell traders and shop owners?

I’d assume most would get just nanocubed. Meaning less avaible hunters to use.

Dont get me wrong, as hunter i’d love cheap armor. But i love looted MU more.

I like traders and shopkeepers too! ?
So this isn’t one of those rants*

Who knows what would happen?

Just something to consider…

Happy hunting! ?

@ CH Hunter you are assuming (L) Armors… i am considering UL loots and broken sets

Removing gender from armors does sound like a good idea.

Assumed based OP.

Would indeed be nice for UL especialy on rarer sets. ?

If we just take 1 specific piece of armor as a way of example, it might be easier to see what will happen:

Lets take a Spartacus Harness (L) as example. Male currently sells around 108-115%, female last sold around 103%. If, starting tomorrow, that harness is now gender neutral and can be worn by both sexes, then it’s likely that the markup will move to somewhere in the middle of that range. I would expect a gender neutral Spartacus Harness to go for around 105-106% following that change.

In the long term, all it means is that it will cost exactly the same whether you are a male avatar or female avatar. On the auction, there will be more competition for an armor part now, since it can be worn by both sexes.

Whereas hunters would recycle certain female parts into nanocubes in the past, they may be able to get a couple percent in mu now if they auction it since it is no longer an unsellable female part, it is now a gender neutral part that can also be sold to male avatars, and thus has a little bit of demand and mu.

I think this is a win for everyone.

Curious to see what will happen.

All the best for change effort. ?

I would suggest making all new armors universal moving forward, while leaving the existing ones as they are, unless there’s an ā€˜upgrade’ system in place.

As for ā€˜virtual trans players’ (men playing female characters), they shouldn’t benefit from this, as many choose female avatars primarily due to the cheaper armor parts.
