PE's economy

You know, the game “There” had a similar economy to PE’s. You put RL money in and get 10x that in game money. Buy yourself a house, maybe a hover boat, great stuff. However, If memory serves, all the wealthy, long time players from beta eventually got bored because the population continually flooded with poor noobs who did nothing but beg for money. When everyone who had money left the game, that wealth didn’t go anywhere. It wasn’t represented by anything physical, and noone can inherit it, so it just goes away. I haven’t played in over a year but last time I went on it was nothing like it used to be. Regardless of whether you all want to admit it or not you are all trying to fill a hole in the internet with money, except for with every new person the hole gets bigger. Have fun, I’ll stick with GuildWars and only pay $49.99 ONCE.

TECHNICALLY I never said I wouldn’t play the game, or that it sucks. I just said where my real money will (not) be going.

the issue of begging for money is a real problem I think. people hear ‘free’ game and hear about $26.500 purchases of virtual real estate and they want it. because of this, I think PE should go to an over 18 only system. specifically, a system that requires age verification.

SL is a free game that requires a one time credit card or paypal account authorization. similar methods can be introduced to make sure 14 year old kiddies (I know about the eula but let’s be realists) don’t sign up and populate Calypso with no intention of actually contributing to the game or to the economy.

There is another way to look at it i think…IRL you always get beggars on the streets asking for money they blatently havent earnt it (im guilty of giving to nearly every charity so i dont say that out of any kind of malice) and just like IRL its your choice to give/not give money to them…

As for Making an 18+…well, all MA would be doing is cutting down its possible client market down by quite a significant margin, always remember that it isnt an obligation to insert money into the game merely a choice, if some ppl dont because of age or money issues then that has to be respected surely?
