Gawd… I LOVE mining.. 
I’m a n00b in the profession, but hopefully will become better at it in time.
Last night I got a perception skill gain when I popped one off while out mining.. now I read in another thread that this usually means something big is around… can anyone tell me what radius I should be searching in? I dont mind btw if you tell me to go figure it out myself, as I know mining is pretty secretive 
I know its a Sensetive Topic but im also New to Mining and wanna Specialize me for Enmatter. In the Mining Guides is Written Perception can mean 3 Things. Start/End of a Vein, You hit a Cluster or More Ressources Located deeper.
I got Perception only one Time and Bombed Around the Rod. I found something that Looked like a Small Vein with Mainly Enmatter (Sweet Stuff BAH) and a Few Ore Deposits(Lyst). But i dosn’t Found the End because i dont got Perception again. Maybe i made something wrong. Someone Said me the Veins Can only go from S to N or from E to W but my “Vein” directed to SW
Generally the Principe for Mining looks pretty Easy. Get a Load of Bombs Blast off the Continent and Write down Every Mining Spot. If you got Enough Spots you can harvest them because they Randomly Refill. Sadly Theory and Praxis seem to be different 
Interpreting the Mining Matrix correct means less Bombs and not missing the Well Hidden Depods. Im Still thinking about if the Mining Skill Unlock the good Depods. If not for what should 7000 Skill in Mining being good for ?
Its proably not Economical but if you want we can meet In PE and make a Mining Trip together trying to Figure out how this Perception Thing works.
I know 2 pretty Good Miners who maybe can Help us with Advise.

I’m pretty new myself with 137 in mining. About the skill gains when bombing; some people belive in it some people don’t. I’m leaning to towards “don’t”, but as I’ve said before, with newb skills it’s hard to find patterns like these. I mean sure, if I get perception when bombing there could be a vast down there, but I’m still too unskilled to find it.
So my advice is : Don’t care about skill gains if you’re a newb miner.

I think that if the range of ur finder is 70 mtrs…u should check 120 mtrs North,South,East,West..from the deposit u just claimed and got a perception message from..got me 2 mining Hof’s so far and i am a noob too.. :rolleyes:

perception while mining will basically tell u their is a 50% chance of a bugger deposit someweres around the general area or server base…IF THE CLAIM LANDS ON THE BOMB SPOT… if u get 2 perceptions thier is a 100% chance, and if 3 than it might be somthing bigger like massive+… ive mined for a year already and its worked for me…

Like, if u hit a average per say, and the claim rod lands right on the explosion spot and u get perception than thier MIGHT be sumthing bigger near like an ample or medium… Then if u follow the vien and u get another perception… thiers probly like a abundent or signi… and if thier r 3 their might be a massive or vast… although i had gotten 7 perceptions ona vien in a general area and found nothing big, this method works 85% of the time for me id say…
As for enmatter, i dont do it much, but i do no when i got surveying skills that ment thier was either a bigger deposit, or thier was a big cluster near…
After reading this thread a few times and trying to understand parts of it, I gave up.
So instead I’ll just offer this: Skills while mining are how you gain skills in the field of mining. They dont mean anything in relation to content of the ground.
Just my 2cent’s worth, but at least it’s legible.
As some of you might know.. I have another and old avatar.. Those of you who dosent know who the avatar is.. too bad..
Some quick facts about it tho:
Started over 2½ years ago
Mining skills 2.5-3K ~ roughly.. sold them now tho..
Perception well over 450…
Geology 400…
So.. not a newbie avatar..
Perception… = Big deposit… ehem.. Finds a megaphone BULLSHIT..
My biggest deposits have been without perception geology or any other skill gain…
It would be like saying “hen you get aim you will uber on the next mob if the sky is grey and its raning out side IRL and MA has just made a new batch of coffee”.. also.. bullshit..
What matters is this.. (As any serious miner will tell you) Find a spot.. OVER MINE IT… wait a couple of hours.. MINE IT AGAIN… wait.. MINE IT AGAIN.. find spawn patterns… then.. profit ya ass off… why do you think some of the richest ppl ingame are miners??
Ohh.. I dont mean.. richest in PEDs… no no no.. we are beyond that.. the people who can actually make a living off the game… the ones who withdraw loads of $$ each month… well.. they arent going arround looking for perception I can say that much…

no perception is not bullshit, its worked for me and many of my other mining friends… plus she asked what it ment, i said what i thought it ment and what i heard on www.myentropia.com(b4 it got hacked)… dont u think calling the perception theory bullshit is kinda hostile? u coulda said that it wasnt true, and been more mature about things

Here’s my experience: A few days ago, I found a couple modest deposits in a cluster where I had gained perception. I found one Large in that area, too. Today, most places I gained perception had only one or two small deposits in the area.
I don’t think there’s a whole lot to it.
I don’t believe Perception gains mean anything either. That said, yesterday I did find a significant 30m (next bomb) after a Perception gain
I do swear by Geology gains though
I think its gains in Mining that matters… Everytime I have found something big.. I have just gained exp in mining…

I havent noticed really, but others theory about perception makes my own theory stronger, my theory got nothing to do with perception though.
I might tell about my mining theory someday, i need to test it further, but maybe it’s so good that i wont tell anyone about it anyway :laugh:

Ive heard from some more “advanced” people in the game that have played since beta, and they have told me that if u buy perception and serendipity, it will raise ur chances of getting better loots, and in the case of perception, better finds
Edit: as i said b4 it doesnt always work, its just a thoery, and thats what mining is made up of… ive currently mined for a year and have over 80 global/hofs… As i said in the previous post, i bieleave that every perception u get in a vain or a cluster will add 50% chance of a bigger deposit… meaning, if u get it twice in a vien thier is most defenitly a bigger deposit

Some beta uberplayers told me that if you run 3 times around the church naked when it’s full moon, loot will be awesome too.
Didn’t try it myself yet tho

Most Beta miners I have met has been :loco:
Especially Rattex,who said “Excellent,theory is working” every time he didnt find a deposit and he said that for hours sometimes :laugh:
High perception and Serendipty doesnt help with loots. In fact,I tended to loot better when I had low serendipity than now
