Pen & Paper RPG

I felt this definitly needed it’s own thread
You know we could start something like this on IRC. I’m sure there is some script kiddie out there who could write a realy cool bot that could perform the randomness that is needed.

hmm pen and paper rpg’s isnt really the same for me without the room, candles, music and the tone in your voice when you speak as your character tho..

Well build a plane then, duh

I think there are some online RPG systems (has dice system and somekind of token board for fights).

Never tried any though.

Of course for irc storytelling RPG would be best.

When I first started online long ago I was on this network called Prodigy. There was a Vampire chat room that was pretty much totaly RPG. Everyone had there own way of speaking and always stayed in character. It was alot of fun.

You should try MUSHes… some there are really pros in chatroom RPing. In fact you are looked downwards if you dont “pose” in chapters.

Oh yes and about rpg characters:

Im a wizard. Always.

When I play RPGs I am always as evil as I can be, dunno why but being a nice guy doesnt feel far from my real life me :wise:

Nice, I’d fly over if you could bribe my professors to give me all As in my classes.

In all RPGs I am a thief/rogue/assassin/saboteur - someone agile, dexterous, quiet, blending in with the shadows, not too much of an armor-clad broad-shouldered fighter. Using wits and cunning instead of brute force.

I was looking at Shadowrun lately, I wish I had someone to play with…
In Shadowrun I want to play a Johny Mnemonic kind of guy, an information transporter with attack and paralyze chips inserted into the head, and a hard-drive to store data, also in the head. I had it down to the tiniest details, how many seconds each chip takes to recharge and activate, how many points I am allowed to spend with each use, etc. Pretty detailed: weights, equipment skecthes, blueprints
For firearms my guy would carry 2 mini sub-machineguns.

P&P are for total nerds.

Surprise surprise

Hehe nice of you to join in there Marco.

Nah i’m usually playing an old grumpy dwarven fighter

Kinda like the way they speak and the way they act.

And a bit different from my RL self since i’m 6’2" and human lol

But the guy still has a good heart and a good ear… a bit like me and all other related avatars

Greetz

Me and a few friends of mine used to play a lot, we never got very far in any stories though since our favourite part was avatar creation :silly2: we always made up these new classes and skills to go with them so it could take a while.
My favourite character and story was being a pirate. I was a young half-elf with dual wield scimitars. We always attacked all ships we met no matter the size so there were some close calls, especially when there were a lot of riflemen… Those were fun times, haven’t played pen & paper rpg since I moved, people around here aren’t as nerdy /=

There is an RPG on Stratics you know… its called “#Idle”… does it need a descr?

Oki… basically… idle there.. and your hp and stuff will increase…

if you say anything… you decrease in skills…

:-p some of the ops “play” that a lot… ohh yeah… if you for some unknown reason log off… you also loose skills :-p … some ppl have been online for AGES… :-p Stratics’ own version of Linz :-p

Not a surprise to me, Marco has been developing several RPG’s before joining Project-Entropia, he has written books, made RPG board games.

A few examples of Marco’s work…

Viking, a roleplay game in the time of the vikings (year 970)

Eon, A swedish-language heroic fantasy RPG, set on an original world called Mundana with extensive description. It has versions of many traditional fantasy races including dwarves, elves, tiraker (orcs) and misslor (fairies). The rules system is fairly complex, and includes a magic system with both formulaic and improvised magic.
