Many of the old designs for weapons were much cooler than the new counterparts. Not sure exactly why so many were changed. Old MK2 model was far superior to the peice of junk looking thing we have today.
To be fair, some of the new modles are very cool.

yep some of them sure are
but for example., that weap from heart in one of the screens in the link, it looks much like futuristic weapens look like in futuristic movies. the ones we have are…like made from robot scrap metal…
