Games will sometimes take a while to shut down fully via Steam, so if you try again right away you can get the “already running” message.
If you wait a bit after a crash before trying again it should work properly.
As for the memory issue; we have done an investigation and found no evidence of any memory leak, but we are looking into potentially releasing a patch that could lower memory use and make it run more stable for players with lower RAM memory.
PLEASE optimize your code then - stop with the “if you wait” and LONG load times in game for interfaces like the craft machine and the codex ( it takes TOO LONG from keypress to result in the codex. The WAIT for the crafting screen to load is too long especially if you click it by accident. The load screen for TP to new server is also too long and needs better “code optimization.” When people click a button on a computer the result should be INSTANT!!!
The server lag is one thing but CODE LAG is not tolerable or acceptable) OPTIMIZE THE CODE. This can be done compartmentally and “need to know” and the players can do it if you can’t (make challenges, ask for help, offer prizes for solutions and code. Hire some CODE SPECIALISTS, PROGRAMMER ANALYSTS and CONTINUITY EXPERT story developers and actual gamers. @Socrates|Mindark literally seems heroic nowadays!! Clone that guy, stat.
Stop using microsoft edge in the client loader, perfect example of uneeded bloatware. Unwanted may I add!
Now I almost forgot what I wanted to add: in the craft machine when autocrafting we used to be able to search and examine the blueprints while the session was active. Now we can’t do anything. Please let us seaarch through our Blueprints while the craft machine is working for us. This update was supposed to make crafting easier - it’s not better right now at all - if you can’t make it better then reinstall the previous system (which wasn’t really in need of update IMO)
Edit : Add to the craft UI requests the ability to adjust the condition WHILE crafting!
How long is a “bit”? Its been more than 4 hours and I still can’t log on via Steam. And FYI, my laptop has 16 Gb of RAM. That should be enough for the game not to freeze.

Steps to Reproduce:

[li]right-click construction-UI[/li][/ol]
The game renders with 2 FPS, though, so something is happening. I can only get rid of that by “running away” (stop-motion style)
Note that all NPC-AI-UIs seem to be affected by the exact same behaviour, too.
No I was connected to the game through the Steam client when it froze. I got back into the game via the client loader after I found that I could not reconnect via Steam. I restarted the laptop as per your suggestion and that’s fixed the problem.
Is there a way to access auction through the crafting interface? Before it used to be that when you’re missing something you could just press a button while in the crafting menu, go to auction and buy the mats. Right now you can click on the missing mats and it only opens the item info window, no option to go right to the auction to buy it. That function was very useful to me.
All in all I think the new crafting UI isn’t bad, it certainly does have a modern feel to it, just needs a little tweaking.
I really hope that patch works out with less RAM then. It was bad enough with opening the AI missions just for a second but for the most important system that we want people to use in game to be the most laggiest and computer crashing is going to cause worse economic (read as player retention) issues if it cannot run super smooth. Worse case if it remains problematic and can’t be figured out then a revert is in order because it is that heavy on PC usage atm and that important in game. A new UI is far less important (1000x less) than releasing a new line of armatrix high EFF guns/amps blueprints that use many materials and many crafting components up a Blueprint chain that can promote newer crafters to have markup early on.
On mobile, so I can’t easily check if it’s been mentioned already. With a the new UI, it looks like you can’t click on the item to be crafted and to pull up its item window to check stats, MU history, etc. You used to be able to do this in the old UI, and is one of the only ways to view the stats for L items before crafting them (UL tools and components can be viewed in auction orders).
I decided to try craft on my old laptop and all was going great until - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED - hmm I thought my drivers were all up to date - will recheck. It’s nice that I got somewhat usable crafting interface on ANOTHER computer since crafting on the main one isn’t feasible at this time - until FIX IT ALREADY GRRRR = know what I mean?!
EDIT: What a nightmare to update NVIDIA drivers - like WTF - i got to login then i got to authenticate then no one tells me i got to run as administrator and now the driver update has failed for the fookin 15th time holy man this %@#$%W#$%^@
and for the grand finale - this app is not supported on this device
crafting ui takes forever to load for me and then drops to 2 FPS, AI mission ui (the one with black screen issues) also takes time to load for me, but doesn’t drop fps as much as crafting ui.
To be honest, i liked the old version better. The thing that its fuzzy can probably fixed, no biggie. But i do not like having to choose between roll bar to see all functions, or, have to fill my whole screen to see all functions. Not a fan of that. And, i know its new, but it feels kind of all over the place. Simple is not bad in costruction window, simple is good.

[li]Current: Lack of summarised statistics for each crafting session, only a number log which doesn’t even show the detailed outcome of each attempt, let alone the session.[/li][li]Suggested: The old UI would give a summarised rundown of all outputs from a crafting session, by number, item, and TT value - which was great for tracking crafting progress, costs and outcomes on a per BP basis.[/li][li]Reason: It was actually possible to track my crafting outcomes, costs, and success without needing a 3rd party app of some kind[/li][/ul]
OK I’ll deactivate it now - if that works?!?! GRRR
EDIT: YES - DEACTIVATING the GPU Accelerated Rendering is making my crafting interface actually usable!!
My crafting machine is still crashing - there’s a memory NOT BEING ERASED when used because I’m still getting the error not enough RAM - 16G not enough? there’s something wrong in the code - I still think memory leak because that’s what a memory leak is! At least the crash is only freezing the computer for a minute and not actually causing a reboot this time…
EDIT 2: The GPU RAM shortage is the cause - I crafted 500 successes for the “Still Waiting on Supplies” mission NO PROBLEMS. Now I’m gonna travel around and see how fast Setesh and PA load
EDIT 3: ARIS, Setesh and Port Atlantis all load faster.
