Agree with Rex.
You dont really have to sit and watch every word she writes but you can stop by the computer every 5 minutes aswell. If she quickly closes some window you know she’s hiding something. But a clue is, dont hide the comp behind a door. In the livingroom, where you can watch her long distance.
Also, if your daughter would want to chat (if thats what she likes) find her some chatrooms with a supervisor, where you cant chat in private. That’s what I used when I was smaller, and it works well!
I dont know any such sites, but here in norway we have several, but they are offcourse in norwegian
Also, explain to your child that you can see what sites they have been to (lots of proggy out there to do this, not just internet history, with 10 mins research they can figger out how to clear it) and be upfront about where they should and shouldnt be.
Not knowing how old your child is i cannot make suggestions, but i am SURE you AND your child know where they should and shouldnt be. Then monitor this. Disipline is part of parenting. Check up on them, if they abuse the right to use the puter by hitting porn or whatever you suspend privlidges. Parents today are too concerned over hurting thier kids feelings and not enough about disipline.
WOW! I’m surprised no1 has given the EASIEST answer yet!
Rather than having them online, buy them pc games!
We have a 5 yr old. There are a couple of children sites with fun games and education things that I will allow him to do with me there, otherwise, if he wishes to be on the pc then he has a variety of eduational pc games that are age appropriate
btw- honestly, while I love my pc and think it’s good to get kids used to using one, I try to limit my son’s pc-usage. He’ll be stuck inside on a pc for, presumably, the rest of his life  While his young, I try to get him outside playing frisbee and catching butterflies as much as possible

I can’t always supervise them and would love to allow them to use the net for school etc.
Can anyone give me any pointers for software etc to protect thier little eyes. :wise:

Somehow, a simple request for software advice turned into a full blown lesson in parenthood!
Thanks guys for all your advice, some great, some quite frankly worrying! My Favourite comment was ‘Parents today are too concerned over hurting thier kids feelings and not enough about disipline’. Dude, get some councilling.
To all the rest who helped, thank you all for your loving caring advice. Its now apparant that there is no software that is gonna do the trick and as I dont wish my kids to have thier feelings hurt, they will not be going on unattended.
My apologies m8 for being quite negative on the subject.. I dont even know how old your kids are, or how obedient for that matter.. I was actually referring to kids a little bit like I was :silly2: If there was a way around something - I’d find it hehe… (hence I now work as a technical specialist :tongue2: )

Oh Shoot! :duh:
If anyone takes offence or thinks anything implied by my last post, please don’t, you all put your ideas and I thank you for that. Ultimababe, no need for any appology in any way shape or form. I know you are cool beyond
There are a few reasons I didnt put my kids ages down, firstly I have 4 of the little munchkins, secondly, we all have different ideras of what kids should be doing and at what age and lastly. The internet is full of strange people and I dont like to say too much.
Big hugs at ya all.
Hey u! No worries hehe I was too negative :tongue2: .. but check out that link there.. and if that doesnt work too well for you just holler and I’ll see what else I can come up with :yup:

yea like what age do you stop worrying about your kids eh i know my mom still worries about me haha.
And this advice is not sepecific to you Beast i just think it’s on topic. Also not saying anyone is or will do this but having computer in a public place is also good for the adults too. I know quite a few ppl that hid away in an offince while there siginifcant other was in another room and they end up meeting someone on the net and leaving there wife/husband.
Kind of one of the things i love about PE actually as i know the others couples here are like to. PE kind of brings me and my wife together i will sit beside her and watch her and her the same and we always have something to talk about.
And it being in the living room means i can be playing with my daughter and keeping and eye on my wife steeling my globals and hear whats going on in soc chat.
:wise: I just wanna provide any insider information i can here, and encourage “parents” to be more responsible of their children, when i was 13 i surfed porn in my own room behind a closed door, so watch your kids good or they will turn out like me!
Wise words from a half blind and CrAzY honest teenager! :dunce:
