My idea of a better PE

Hi all,

For some time now, I have been doing a lot of thinking about PE and what it used to be like and what is has become lately. I like PE. I think it is a great concept for a game. It used to be a lot of fun when I started playing over 2 years ago. As of late, there does not seem to be any of that fun left. A player could have fun (althought it was limited) even if they didnt have money or could not deposit. Nowadays, the only way to get any kind of enjoyment out of PE is if you deposit great amounts of money so you could afford a big gun and big armor.

IMO, PE would be a better and more fun game if there were less hofs and better regular loots. When I started playing PE over 2 years ago, it was a huge thing to get on the hof list. Nowadays, anyone with a bit of luck could get on that list…not only once but many times. To me, the hof list does not mean anything anymore. It used to mean a lot of skilling and hard work to get your name up on the list. I also think regular loots should be better and MA should do away with that annoying “No loot” message. I think every mob should drop something, even if it is only 1 or 2 pec. I can only speak for myself here, but I get rather upset and annoyed after I have killed 10 - 20 mobs and just keep getting the “No loot” message. It certainly would help to keep newcomers playing longer if they knew that with every mob they killed, they would loot at least a little.

IMO, PE would be a better and more fun game if the old skilling system was back. From what I have read and heard from others, skilling and skills was a big part of the game for them (including myself). MA should not only bring back the old skill system but tweak it so skills actually meant something in PE again. The higher the players skills, the better chance of the player getting a hof… but… there should also be a cap on skill levels too. Just like MA put a cap on the skill levels for sweat gathering, MA could also apply skill caps on other skills as well. The cap should be set at the point where a player cant actually make profit in this game. I know some people join PE in hopes that they will actually make some profit.. but come on.. lets face reality here. The only ones making profit (or should make profit) is MA. They are the company that created PE and they have expenses to keep the game going. When I started playing PE, I did not join to try and make money. I never expected to make any profits in this game. However, I would expect some kind of return as a reward for killing a mob… just to keep me interested in keep hunting (in my case, since I am mainly a hunter in PE). Having a cap on other skills can also have other benefits as well. It would prevent ubers from auto fap skilling after they have reached a certain limit. This would eliminate the main reason my MA made these drastic and bad changes in VU 7.4.

I know some players may get upset with me about this next point.. but I dont care. :tongue2:  I think auto clickers should not be allowed in PE. For one thing, it gives an advantage over those that dont have auto clickers. Also, IMO, it takes some of the fun away from playing. I think every skill gained should be worked for.. and by that I mean, the person at the control of the avatar should have to manually click his/her mouse button. I do not know much about such things, but surely there must be a way that MA could detect if a player is using an auto clicker or not. Then, if an auto clicker is detected, MA can auto log off that avatar.

Another point I would like to make in this post regarding my idea of a better PE is to make items and the whole economy more reasonable. What I mean is to make a ped stretch a bit further than it does now. If the value of the ped would be less, then the price of items would also follow, and a person could play for a little longer on the same ped as they are playing on now. This would keep more people playing longer.

One final point I would like to make.. and this is directed more towards MA (and I hope Marco or someone else from MA reads this), and that is…
I know that MA is company and your main goal is to make money. As with any company, I am sure MA also has financial goals… but my point here is that perhaps your goals are set so high that you forgot about keeping PE fun and entertaining for your customers (us players). Perhaps think about lowering your goals a little (even if it may take a little longer to get there), and make PE a fun and entertaining game again. To me, it makes more sense to lower your goals a little even though it may take longer to get there, instead of setting your goals so high that you lose customers and may never reach your goal then.

Anyway.. this was my :twocents: worth. Does anyone else have any comments?

Yeah, I been thinking along the same lines.
Im not terribly peturbed about the skills… or even the “no loot” msg’s.
For me, it is more annoying getting 30 pec off a spider as it is getting 50 “no loots” off snables… and the spider would cost a lot more (ping-pong and not trapping).

But yeah, previously getting on the hof list was a big thing… and to me it still is!.. sure I have had my share… but I have only been up there on my own once in 2 years of playing… all the rest of the times have been in teams, and I’ve only had 5 globals ever alone too. It is VERY frustrating however, when I am killing the biggest mobs I can…and working out the best way to do it… tagging from a long range… using high decay ghost armour…and having a real battle to kill them…and then someone gets a 900 ped hof on a lousy daikiba !!!

Hello Peanuts

It looks for me you make you some serious Thoughts about Pe that you like and wish it advance and become a more happy Place where everyone have fun. I really Appreciate that and i feel the same as you in some Points like the Skill System.

But on the Other Side we all knowed PE isnt Static its Changing , Evolving and MindArk have high Goals. The Dollar have less Value than like 2 or 3 Years bevore, please keep that also in Mind. They make this Virtual Place and we can like it or not. The only way to change anything is a big Part of the Communety is disagree with something and starting to widraw monney. For my Example i stopped completely to hunt now. I dont gain Skills enough anymore and sience this was my Motivation to Hunt i just stopped it. I found new Fields who Interesst me in PE and life goes on. Evolve with the Game

Remember the Dinosaurier died once because they couldn’t Evolve fast enough to apply the Different Enviroment ,)

Pe is a Game of Extremes, you love it or you hate it.

But i think you love it still so have fun and dont worry too mutch about Changes. Just deal with them and find your Personal Consequences to let ma know what you Think about something. If everyone would do like this MA would a better Place

Regards

Fiona

Well, typically when something isn’t working… the answer is to adjust your game plan

oh… and it was only 800 ped

Many good points there Peanuts!

And you too Fiona.

One thing that did strike a chord was about HoFs. Your observation about what it used to be like made me think.

HoFs occurred on the relativley big mobs to uber mobs. I’d look at the HoF list and go “huh..wonder how hard those are..hmmmm”. Being the ultimate noob I’d go off in search of them, usually with disasterous results.

But…(operative word) it made me want to aspire,to acheive what it took to go kill those mobs. It gave me the drive to keep going no matter how hard it was getting there.

Thats whats lacking now ingame especially when you see puny mobs hof alot.

What is there to strive for?

Bring back the days when the hard mobs Hofed and the smaller ones dropped fairly decently.

Just speaking of the HoF topic here. Do you guys think it has lost its luster, in some part due to the fact that you have advanced? For me a HoF is still a great thing. But, I have only had a handfull in over two years.

Maybe the excitement of the HoF list going away is due to you being “in that playing feild” now, so to speak.

I dont think u thought through enough dude. The ideas although great in principle, are contradictory in nature to your global idea of a fun game for everyone.

The auto-clickers you mention are available to everyone and are freely available on the net. (I dont use one, but its none of my business if others do. Its thier Ped to burn).

PE has evolved and a lot of items have sky rocketted in price. The increase in the economy and item value has always been the aim of PE, they have never hid this, so it shouldnt be a surprise that its happening. In fact, they have always been telling us that thats what they want. A lot of people, listened, thouoght about it and then took advantage of this and did really well, sadly not me, but who am I to begrufge people who have. Good on em I say.

As for the Hof situation. Its never been any different. All levels of players have been able to Hof. Nothing has changed. If it wasnt a problem before, it shouldnt be now.

No doubt, PE is now on another level than it used to be, the stakes are higher, but the game is, well still the game. n00bs hunt small mobs and the Ubers hunt big mobs. Its always been that way. It now just takes longer to get to Uber status.

I for one agree, that setting an auto-clicker on a small mob to get yeself to Uber skill status is pretty damn wrong. Now MA have changed it, people will just have to damn well earn it. It should have always been that way, it wasnt, but it is now.

Good point DD.

For me, I have only been playing since around February this year, so have only been going through a few VU’s so don’t know all that many changes.

With regards to Hof’s though, I think as you say, it could be because you have moved on a little in the game, experience and they just don’t give you as much satisfaction, but then you can put that another way.

Anyone can hof on a small mob, and to be honest, some of those Hof’s are way to large for the mobs in question, which is why people are feeling a little pissed of when they are killing big mobs and getting squat.

When I started to play, I wanted to work my way to Ubersville, get some decent armor, weapons and go fight those big bad boys for those hofs, but more often than not, it was to get some new weapon, armor or item drop.
Yes, the money comes in handy to carry on playing and I hate it when it feels like a never ending money pit where I don’t feel I’m getting as much enjoyment as I was in the beginning because it always feels like I’m depositing with no real value returns.

Ok, I have fun when I do play, but not as much when I first started playing.

Here is a thought that maybe MA could work into the Looting system.

Hofs and Loots are based on the mobs in question and your skill levels.
There size, strength, dmg and how much it takes to kill one of them depends on what loot is received.

This is the kicker though.

Once you reach a certain level in your skills, you can no longer hunt those smaller mobs to get any sort of loot what so ever and have to move up the ladder and onto the next level of mobs to achieve any sort of loot.

However, the loot given depends on the mobs killed. If you kill a Daikaba young, maybe you get a few pec and going up the levels to Old’s and Providers etc the Loot level increases in Peds.
Same for other mobs and classes. The higher the mob, the higher the loot, but the higher skills you need to be to even attempt to taking them on to receive loot.

So in effect, the lower end mobs are New Player Mobs, which gives them a reason to come in and play the game because they are not being over run by uber players trying to get loot that they really don’t deserve as they are so easy for them to kill. Same as New Players would not even be able to attempt to kill an Uber Mob.

This would have a major effect on the Income and Economy in the PE environment.

It would bring in new players because they know they can at least achieve hunting and get loot which makes them want to carry on playing. They keep increasing there deposits and so money keeps coming into the Economy.
Any items that they may get from Hofs can be sold on to people with money, and this again gives them a reason to carry on playing.
Then they go off hunting again and the money circle starts again.

The Uber Mobs give even better loots which gives the Uber Players a reason to hunt them, and not feel ripped off when they spend 50ped and only get 10pec in loot. This in turn gives people a reason to keep on hunting and moving up the ladder, because we all know how much fun it can be to hunt some of these bigger mobs, especially if we get a Hof.

I know when I killed my first Atrox I was chuffed.

Anyway, I hope that all makes sense. I did re-read to make sure, but you never can tell.

I really can say I like every1’s comments on this thread so far :girl:

Peanuts you raise some valid arguments, although a few of them are really our fault… ie the price of things is what WE as a community are willing to spend for them :frowning: So when you see those insane prices it’s only b/c there are those among us insane enough to spend that kind of cash on them

As Fiona said, of course this game mimics rl in many ways not the least of which is our ability to evolve.

As for hofs vs avg loots, I must agree with Peanuts that I prefer higher avg loot to larger hofs, but atm my loots have not been so terrible on average. I do recall when I began playing the game an uber hof was anything over 300… most hofs were 150 or less… perhaps the avg loots were higher then. Although, of course, looting has had to change with the great influx of new players and the difference between depositing players and non-depositing. For the most part, I leave those things up to MA… as long as I find that I need not deposit lots of money into game I’m happy. Of course, if my luck were bad and I was always having to deposit I might be more upset and would probably just quit.

Just my :twocents:

I think some of you have misunderstood me a little here, or perhaps I did not make it clear in the first place. I do not have a problem with adapting or adjusting… to a point. However I do have a little problem with it when MA is forcing us (if we wish to keep playing PE) to spend more money so we can get bigger guns and armor to hunt bigger mobs. There was a time when you could hunt any size mob you felt like and still got skills (and a few ped if you were lucky). I dont like to be forced to hunt bigger mobs all the time. There are days when I would just want to hunt smaller things and make it a more of a social hunt, and there are days when I want to come face to face with an angry Atrox and listen to its last sounds before it hits the ground.

As far as the loots being equal to the size and strength of the mob, that is only wishful thinking. I can kill a combibo worth 8 ped loot, but yet on the same day and with the same weapon I can bring down an Atrox and get only 15 pec. The thing is, it costed me 15 pec to kill the combibo and it costed me about almost 8 ped to kill an Atrox (if you take into consideration ammo, weapon decay, and armor decay).

Ah well… I will just wait and see what the next VU holds before I make any decisions about my future with PE.

A HoF, to me, used to be really exciting, just because it happened. Now it’s like “thank god for that, maybe now I won’t lose so much”.

The skills I can’t really deal with either. The only thing it does is rush the noobs to a certain level, force people to buy guns that they shouldn’t be using, and stunt the growth for players that have good skills. I think skills should be gained depending on what you’re hunting, and what you’re hunting it with. Not “you can’t FAP on snables anymore”, but instead “you can’t FAP on snables anymore with an Imp FAP”. This would, obviously, be bad for MA’s profits, as it’s basically forcing people to use appropriate gear for the appropriate mobs.

As for not getting any loots, I think it’s absolutely pathetic that they implemented it, and makes it pretty evident that they’re out to make money regardless of the impact on their players. The only people this system hurts are the ones who can’t hunt for 5-10 hours. I believe your skill level should determine what kind of loot you have a chance of recieving. If you’re out killing snables with a Jester and you have 3k+ Rifle, then you probably won’t get very good loot, but if you’re killing Maffoids with an Mk.II and you have ~1k skills, the chance of getting a good loot would be raised.

EDIT About the avg loots. It costs MA nothing to throw a good item, or even an uber item, into the loot, they do not have to worry about the TT+ value. I don’t mean you get a daikiba skull worth 1 PED, I mean you get a FAP-10, or a Daikiba Trophy Head or something, even if the TT value is 1 PEC. Yes, this would lower the prices of items, and force people to sell their items for less, but it would also mean that all items in general are cheaper.
