Music taste

Ok … way off topic (which is what this bit of the forum is about)…but wondered what sort of music people like on the forum and what players favorite on-line radio stations/ DJ’s/ artists are. So post please – with (legal) links so we can hear them. Realise that a number of players are performers/ artists …so please post links here!

BTW no musical fascism or negative judgments on players or their posts …just tell people what you like, why you like it and where to find it.

To start it - I am into World Music …an eclectic mix of anything that isn’t teenage pop and has a decent link to a culture. I like everything from Brit punk, folk, Fardo, and trance through to Nigerian Dance Hall. I like talented musicians (period).

Favorite DJ is Andy Kerhaw who plays what ever the hell he likes …ON THE BBC (which is an achievement in itself) http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/andykershaw/

his programmes are available on-line – for your listening pleasure. Each one is radically, radically different and each one has a different bash at the establishment. The latest starts with a modern Arabic piece (fantastic stuff) and then features a great UK based folk singer and then goes on to feature some Arab/ French music.

Favorite artist is …god can’t decide…at the moment probably Paris Combo (French Café Jazz) caus I heard them in a bar with some friends on a rainy day in Portugal (while imbibing copious amounts of alcohol) and just got hooked on the mellow tones and ironic lyrics and it brings back great memories.

I also tend to like anyone with talent.

Right now I’m into less-heavy-than-in-the-past music, mainly the Beatles, Guster, The Arcade Fire, and Pink Floyd, to name a few. My favourite would have to be the Arcade Fire right now.

i dont listen any online radiostations, i usually listen finnish radiochannels like www.radiocity.fi

but i bet thats not interesting to u, they dont have any online option.

u can find my favority music at here though, videos and clips,

I can’t seem to get Radiohead out of my head…
88.5 WXPN is a good station with a good webcast

I have a kinda wide taste of music hehe.
Most of the time i have the radio on on “Studio Brussel”.

Bands i like the most atm:
Millionaire (Amazing Belgian rock)
Sigur ros
dEUS
The White stripes
Anthony & The Johnsons
Arsenal
Zita Swoon

Older stuff i like alot:
Radiohead
Nick Cave
Laurent Garnier
Jeff buckley
Some of Eminems stuff

… and so many more, hehe

We have a thread here allready with what music do you like and you enter all bands and stuff.. Cant say I listen to the radio unless were bored with the cd’s we have in the car. And then its usually news and such, and with the great selections of radiochannels we have its little to nothing interesting of music I find there.

For what music I like, well -Everything. Jazz, Metal, Rock, Rock’n’Roll, Blues, Classic, “Oldies” type o Jazz (Frank Sinatra and such), even some Country-like, Arabic and Serbian, some Opera, some Pop, some Punk, Some Electronic, Progessive and more and more… Its hard to list all I like because I mainly just listen to whatever sounds good to my ears.

Ups, double posted. (Now how did that happen?)

Well for your entertaining:
Now to something completely different!

I like everything in music that’s done with talent, or that’s innovating without paying attention to music categories. I can listen to hiphop, rock, jazz, disco or hardcore … depends on how its done
I use to dj sometimes at friends parties and i’d like to do it in a club soon  (as soon as i move in a bigger town , in fact :P) . Maybe NEVERDIE will hire me to play in his ingame club :dunce:

At the moment i’ll recommend things like Puppetmastaz (nu album is übercool), Venetian Snare’s last album (talently melting classical music with a kind of hardcore jungle) , Stacs Of Stamina, Jason Forrest , Benoit Delbecq’s Piano Solo LP and many more… everyday brings a new good thing to listen to

I had a music review site a few years ago that i turned into a blog-style bookmarks site due to lack of time for writing articles.
This is www.tropur.com
You got links to cool music videos , funny stuff about music , innovative artists sites , etc … Some links brings to french sites, but only a very few. Feel free to check, feedback, and submit links (got my mail adress on the site) if you’re interested in.

MY BEST BANDS: Iron maiden, children of bodom, rush, metallica, nile, morbid angel, twisted sister, alice cooper, rammstein, slayer (anything with guitars) i like all sorts of stuff

I recall a webradio ( www.chronixradio.com or something like that…) which was playing some decent music…

Otherwise… I believe there is already a similar thread, no?..

well, I’m too lazy to list my fav bands right now anyway… Let’s just say… Metal…

Props to the chap who mentioned v-snares earlier on, the guy’s a legend.

I’m into a lot of chiptune music, which is primarily made on old videogame consoles (c64, nes, gameboy etc). My favourite artists include Bit Shifter, Paza, Restart and Covox.

My second love is Breakcore, the chaotic offspring of dnb/jungle/breakbeat (and a genre in which venetian snares features primarily). Favourite artists here include Doormouse, Epsilon, Di-Bit, Saskrotch and Acrnym.

I also make my own music, and am featured on several netlabels and indie label compilations under the guise ‘Sabrepulse’. You can find out more and listen to my music on my myspace page (shameless plug there but :D)

online radio? when you already have all the music you love and can listen to exactly the songs you want to when you want to

Ill just list a few songs I listen to much right now with a little quote from the lyrics and let you guess :stuck_out_tongue:

Paradise Lost - The last time
“So I raise a sunken smile as I serve the ones who served, What can I achive when you steal the air I breathe”

In Flames - Clayman
“I feel so invinsible, Im the sculpture made of clay”

Tiamat - So much for suicide
“Silly cartoon creatures on cotton boulevard, Playind dead just like a retard”

Him - Your sweet six six six
“I’m longing for your touch and I welcome your sweet six six six in my heart”

well, i think you get the idea

ohh almost forgot
Instant remedy - Outrun

Right now it’s noting but In Flames

i saw in flames on their tour of the uk with motorhead! excellent band  Swedens finest
