Not wanting to appear complacent or unhelpful, but I think the community as a whole has it right. Players logging in may not alaways get all of their questions answered in game straightaway… but to be brutally honest if you are wandering around constantly asking questions it does mean you are not trying to find out for yourself. Sure it’s nice if someone helps you to sort stuff out, but I promise you it sticks quicker if you have to work it out. :wise:
Now I have been known in my time to take a n00b train around and I have to admit it is fun also good for showing of what toys the new players can get Nothing better than seeing someone wrestle with a few Trox and Goki to get someone really interested
My point here really is…(yeah I know it took a while coming) PE isn’t a horribly difficult game to get into, if you take the time to look around, and think! So my main bit of advice to all new players is (Drumrolls)… You’re not gonna get rich here overnight but you can become a good part of a great community if you are willing to take the time to learn. As MA say, this is a virtual universe, life in the real one isn’t solved by constant questions and help… it should be a little tough but here it can also be a whole lot of fun
One of those Noobs here - but not new to online gaming
A humbling experience to be muddling around not knowing what to do
A mentor claimed me but she is not always around and I have returned for the superb graphics and the fact that getting killed doesn’t lose you anything but time.
I think I got killed 10 times before getting any sweat and now I just have to work out how to sell it and buy at least a basic weapon.
I don’t mind working hard and in my other online game I am often a mentor but I find this game is not friendly to noobs. It is very difficult to get the first items for survival and the in-game help is pretty useless so far - just key strokes.
Sorry - but I haven’t found a good guide yet - so if anyone can point me in the right direction - well I just might stay around

That could be a good idea. I would suggest the opposite order though.
The old players are only ones who can understand the server lag
and have experienced it before, so they could get an email message
stating that “you will be autologged off after 30 mins of cumulative
gameplay during the weekend” . And newbies would have no restrictions,
others something in between. (The logic here is that old players
are the only ones who would log again on Monday even they were
blocked off for one weekend hehe).

That would work great!
If you wanna kill PE that is..
Its the old players that spend money on PE, not the n00b sweaters..
And allowing the old player max 30 minutes of gametime? OMG that would make people bitch and complain. Another thing to remember is that the ones that hof big, from hard mobs is mostly older players and without those hofs and globals you lose a lot of the PR aspect..
They should smack out a 150k HoF to one of the veteran players this weekend just as a PR stunt..

I would think it would be better PR if a newbie got it…
Anyways… still at work.. can someone tell me if the place is really busy, and tons of lag and CTD’s… ?? give us an update
[/QUOTE]
No, i cant update on lag and CTDs at the current time as im stuck at work myself as well. Doh, why else would I be on the forums?
EDIT: However, just before I left to work, there was not much lag, it was crowded but no CTDs.
Of course the fact that my computer is 3x the minimum reqs help a bit..
It is good PR when a noob get a midsize hof from a sabakuma. Its great PR when a vet get 100k PEDs from an atrox stalker or somesuch. Gives the n00bs that little “DAMN! I WANNA DO THAT TOO!!”

I’m noticing how much strain the PE website is taking… and wondering if MA was really ready for this influx. I mean they managed to get their PR firm to get it on 1 website, but from what I can see, most of the news services received their information from players. I wonder if they ever dreamed the extent of the publicity, and the effect it would have.
This is going to be a huge weekend… and I’m not sure the servers will handle it…lets hope they do…
What can we do as players to help?
Please put your suggestions in here… and I hope everyone would help…

Well…so far Rose and I have helped like 8 Newbies get from point A to Point B. Not far by anyones standards here but it helps…
And we have met so many interesting peeps along the way..truly one of our best experiences!
The best way to help is to make the newbies feel welcome and to help them learn the game.
