I was the most eager person alive (at least I feel so) when I was reading the forums about wood as a resource beeing introduced this VU…
I had some ideeas myself about the possible whereabouts of such a resource, but I never though that it would be found in atroxes loot…
I remember reading some posts back then about ppl saying that the 1x0 axe may probably have a meaning now chops tree after tree
I can’t really say why, but the ideea of looting wood from a live creature (and even more, already processed wood) makes me think: “That Atrox might have wiped out one ore two feffoid settlements on Calypso and ate all, even their wooden shacks”.
Come on ppl, don’t ya feel it’s stupid to get processed crafting materials from a beast’s belly?
A more decent ideea would have been to find branches on the ground, same as fruit/dung system, then maybe process them with a refiner or a special tool bought from the tt. Or even the 1x0 ideea of chopping trees, with some “This tree didn’t carry any branches” message…
So bottom line, where’s that piece of reality one needs from time to time?
or we could go on a quest to gather logs … oh wait, wrong game
My English Mastiff was quite a termite, she could chew up a log! I would not be suprised to loot a couple 2X4’s out of her belly
Trox are much bigger and have much bigger teething requirements then my Mastiff has, so I’m not suprised to see them carrying around boards. But I haven’t seen them chewing anything, the only thing I can think of is they are gnawing on Illumitrox.
I feel the same way Sharyn. But this would require alot of changes! Mobs like Faucervix looting pink paint cans - where did that come from??? Perhaps you could loot raw materials to make paint, though, from the pigments in the skin or something.
And don’t get me started on “This creature didn’t carry any loot”. I’m a hunter IRL, and EVERY animal I hunt loots skins, meat, bones, teeth, etc. Even if it meant smaller loots of skins, I think every mob should fork over something.
yea i dont see a problem with using axes to chop trees just like a mob as they would decay with use. Also it hink refining work should work backwards as to refining say Iron.
You should refine a Tree Log into 2X4’s 1 log would be 4 lower tt value items but would way less because they would be missing the bark
It had been discussed in the past to have a logging profession. I think it would be pretty cool to take your logging gear (be it an axe or even a chainsaw) on long trips.
MA will gain decay from the chainsaw / axe and it would make PE a bit more realistic.
The only problem I see as of right now is that you can walk through just about all trees in game. But - a logging profession would be pretty cool
If you talk about realistics you can ask yourself a lot more questions:
[ol]
[li]Where did Allo’s get a generic from?[/li][li]Why do Argo’s carry mindforce ship and never uses them? (they don’t have ME duh)[/li][li]Why do numberous of creatures carry weapons?[/li][li]Why do some creatures carry furniture?[/li][li]Why do some creatures have a statue of themself or a trophyhead?[/li][li]Do umbranoids ever use hair spray?[/li][/ol]
The idea about shopping trees and getting logs that way sounds like a good idea to me too … it would also be good for newbies, because the get a few melee skills and some items without dying everytime.

You can chop trees with axes! Illumitrox are trees!!
…or are they really just jumping dildo’s as I have been told by an unamed participant
Lets say that a logger goes out and chops down a few trees. With decay to their axe / chainsaw (which also uses oil bwahhaha)..
Then when the tree is chopped down (requiring X number of “chops” - better with skill) it falls to the ground and is left laying there…
Then.. either by taming an animal or by the use of a special logging vehicle it has to be transported out of the woods. The cut down tree would have a massive weight to it so it could not be simply carried off.
Then the log could go to a logging facility (player owned) and there the log will be refined into usuable timber.
This could start a massive logging industry! Wouldn’t that be cool

this way, maybe the International Foresters Movement would invest in PE…it will be a kind of an educational programme
