thanks Ginger 16

keep hunting. its all luck. its like a casino.

you dont find hof, hof finds you.

You may get some tips or hints or theories from folks but, the bottom line is exactley what emptywalls said…Hunt! Hunt as much as you can and as often as you can. You can narrow your odds a bit by hunting the same mob in the same area day after day, after day, after long, tedious, boring day. This however is much less fun imho. I took me over a year to achieve my first solo hunting global. They havn’t stopped coming since. Just got an 83 ped’er last night so, don’t get discouraged. Get out there and knock 'em dead!

Incidentaly, a plasma rifle is not the most cost effective hunting weapon … especially if your skills are still on the lower side. (<2000 in rifle) Just thought I would mention that.

just as empty said.. you dont find hof it find you.. same with global.

I have been playing for almost 10 months and i only ever got 2 hofs one in a team and recently one by myself Both were elss than 300 ped too.
I have gotten globals too several of them most of them in team only ever gotten 1 by myself..
So one way to get a hof or global quicker is to team up with a player hwo is a little better than you and who has better “luck” and ya might get one.
Also you want to hunt ALOT and do your hunting in places where lots iof people are hunting. and to further increase your chances ya want to hunt at a time when it is daytime hours in europe (basically business hours at mindark) evening time in europe is best, you can kinda tell when its a good time because you see globals or hofs fairly frequently over a short period of time.
(basically you want to hunt a a time when alot of other people are hunting and adding to the loot, more people hunting the better chance for the right numbers to get into place for a hof/global).
It is still possable to get one at other times too but with the right timing you can increase your chances.
Also explore a bit so you can know where to find some of the creatures and figure out the popular hunting spots. so when you see globals for one kinda creature you would be able to have an idea where to look and try your luck.
and of course if you get too many no loots in a row too often then thats not a good time or place to hunt. go somewheres else instead. same if ya get too many no loots and poor quality of loots.. you should have an idea if its a good time/place with 50-100 animals killed or about 50ped worth of ammo or 3-5 axes.

yea it’s all just a luck thing but staying in a area that is “hot” (loot is going good) for a long time increases your chances.

But i’ve been playing almost 2 years now and still never had a global. But i’ve still had tons of fun and don’t feel like i’ve “lost” money.. I just feel that i’ve spent my small amount of money (about 10 US a month) wisely .

A little tip

As people here have already said, you increase your chances for a global or hof a lot if you hunt more.
However, they also said its all luck wether or not you get a global or HoF. This is not entirely true as there is quite a few things you can do to increase your chances at it.
I will not go into the “advanced” ways here, but ill give you something that should help you on your way to your first global.

  • Find one particular mob to hunt and keep hunting that mob in the area you find. I suggest either argonauts south of hadesheim south city or allophyls near limnadian district. Both of them have a history of dropping a fair few globals.
  • Be patient. It might take some time to get it, and its not certain it will cover what it cost to get it. Infact, most likely it wont, as the basic economy in PE is to make everyone spend a little money in order for MA to make some.
  • As Rex said, dont look at it as losing money, look at it as spending money for entertainment.

Yeah he is talking about me although i have only globald once and one was a ship, i am skilling with my axes and with mining in the same area N of pa, the hunting global was a 79ped diakiba, it might be that he is loosing money from using a brave with about 200 riflr skill, i have told him repetidly to get a lower level gun and skill so he hits the mobs more, i thought he would have learnt from his mistakes from using a ewe 40 mercenary with about 400 HG skill which me then moved to a maddox 1 then a 3 as it was not powerful enough, but when he got his bravo and was out hunting and had nno ped tted the maddox 3 :-0. mbe someone more experiencede will help him and he might listen

It’s simple mathematics:

let’s say your weapon does maximum damage of 100. If your average damage is about 30-40, maybe you should consider a lower weapon.

DON’T go for too big mobs for you. A too big mog is that on which u spend very much time and ammo to kill. DON’T be interested in HoF/global, but in your economy. Lower your spends. At your level, I would hunt: daikibas, combibos, exarosaurus, cornundos, berycles, cornundacaudas until the “old” maturity.

There are 2 points of view:

• “casino”: u must maximize ur chances of getting global through increasing the mobs killed woth same expenses. THERE ARE large HoF on daikibas or exarosaurus, u just have to kill them. HoF/global come extremely rare in the first 5 minutes of hunting an area/mob. You need several days to know a specific spawn regarding loot/spawning spots/spawning time/maturity, etc.

• “good mobs”: those are mobs largely hunted. search an area with other hunters and try ur luck. if u get many no looters, change area, but stay in same mob if it is hunted (argonauts is the best example).

Track your loots. keep in mind the average loot and items for certain area/mobs. Don’t be anxious or impaciently.

Not the last: good armour. Pixie or rascal is best until you become a powr-player. Goblin for snables.

Explore. Socialize. Askk politely for advices. Ask your socmates for advices, The8 is a nice soc with good players. Don’t tt your finds, sell them even for 105%, that is profit. Don’t shoot outside of weapon’s range.

Stories with ppl HoF’ing in their 10 minutes in game are nice. But not put your pecs on that chance. If it comes, tho, enjoy it:)

I hope you made a picture.

Regards,

K

Might have only one thing to add…both theoryes might be correct…or maybe not…sometimes they might prove correct other times not.
You might also take into consideration to change proffesions. My avatar for example seems to have a bit of bad luck when hunting but when mining…now thats different...example: had around 10 mining hofs but only 4 or 5 hunting. And the ammount spent on hunting is around 4 times bigger than the one spent on mining. Some may say: stick to what youre doing. I say no…try something new…wether its crafting, mining or whatever seems tempting. And dont do it because you see in one day 3 Ubers in that proffesion.
At first glance, in the first vus (4.x) mining seemed boring to me..ive said ill never mine a single pec...last vu was craftings time...what do u know...im crafting today. Basics but it`s sort of fun.
Main ideea is that you can do all sorts of things…go for the game not for the income

Story about change what you’re doing (hunting, mining, crafting)
[/QUOTE]

I have a question about that. I “fear” that when I would change to something different (say crafting) that it’s just another way of losing my peds. I would first have to invest in bp’s and ingots. Then start crafting and … have a change that it’s all a failure!
I’ve done a change to mining once and it was a total disaster. Spend 10 bombs and 10 probes and got 15 alicenies liquid and something else (forgot what). :frowning:  :frowning:

Yu need to invest a little more than that. 20 tries?!.. To be successful at mining, I suggest using no LESS than 100 mines/probes per outing…

But as far as globalling of Hof’ing… I hunted/mined for MONTHS with not so much as a global. I changed to crafting and got my first HOF within days on basic filters.

It’s all a numbers game. I’d say maybe you need to spend a little more time in an area. I find that if I just go out for a quick hunt, I do terrible, but if I stay out there throgh 10-20k ammo, I do great.

Only a minor adjustment to that Mazzy said…Take my words: i like hunting…in fact my hunting skills are way over the mining ones but..hunying in the same area..this kinda fails me…(again this applies to a certain mob). Hunted trox south of Ithaca for almost 1000 ped (return reinvested) and not a single global…and insisted for a couple of months. Counter-ex: 2 of my soc. m8s hoffed 3 times there.Dig this out (im not dissaproving the "hunt in the same area theory, in fact bout half year ago had a 170 ped hof out of snable after hunting there for the skins for about a week). So maybe it`s up to finding the “good for your avatar” location. My 2 pecs

I second that “good for your avatar”. My fifth bomb in game was a great deposit (w00t, 32 ped, weee).

The mining, tho, has a major disatvantage. You must prospect. Until u find a good area, u can spend anywhere between 10 bombs and 500 bombs, depending on many factors. Only when u know 3-4 good areas and mine them regularly, you are really mining

and about crafting: DON’T invest in bp’s, as least at begining. consider the “basic filters” (or however it is spelled corectly) being the jester d-1 of crafting. I prefer getting my own bp’s while crafting rather than buying from others. (tho, this is MY option, maybe I am wrong).

True… I guess I just assumed this to be a given. I recently found that I get really good loot on Thorio and Equus…

Though the taxes are kind of high on that LG. I’ve always loved a few areas, and I think EVERYONE hunts the trox S of Ithica. Mining, however, never seems to be consistent for me. I think I find a spot, but when I return, I have no luck there… can’t find a pattern, except “random”.

I’ve used 200 mines on Amethera with nothing over a Modest deposit.

The moral of the story, I think, is persistance + finding your spot + luck = :hammer:

I would add a little madness… I mean, completely covering an area of 500x500 (I WON’T tell how many bombs i used :D) just to ensure is nothing there, is… somehow… :dunce:

What I mean is that I don’t have much peds to easely change my profession.
When you have 1k PEDs you could buy 100 probes/bombs and try out mining. Not when you have 50 PEDs. Then trying something different is a huge investment and it wouldn’t be good if you’ll find out that isn’t “your” profession either. :frowning:  :frowning:

Ardorj I suggest you just deposit like $50, which is no more than you pay for any other video game, and spend it wisely and see where it takes you. 50 PED really isn’t much to do anything in this game unless you get very lucky. Good Luck!

Now its some time since ive done that, but..
I have been spending 3-5000 PEDs within a week hunting a specific area a few times. It can eat your heart (and wallet out) while it goes on, but i have always gotten the investment back when i finally get what i want from that area.
One place ive been doing it was trox south of ithaca. i spent (i never lose, i spend, as this is entertainment. also because ive withdrawn more than my deposits already) 3500 PED over 8 days. When i finally got paid i looted 2 improved FF ARR 8000 and 3 sets of male shadow arms in 2 days.
Thing is that this approach, if you dont have other knowledge to utilize can be very close to old fashioned gambling…

Reason why i always get paid when doing such things is that i have a lot of knowledge that i can add into the equation, which i have gained during my time in PE, which started in BETA.
