If your comp is 550+ watts and you live in the US, odds are you’re paying around 8 cents an hour for electricity.
After withdrawal fees, probably lost money while sweating

That applies to literally every video game though. You’re not making money playing any other MMO either, you’re just spending electricity. At least with sweating you walk away with 7 cents instead of 0 cents.

Nvm

I think hes saying if you instead chose not to play at all, you would be 1 cent richer than if you did the sweating. and you could use that hour to do something more productive, like flip burgers for 20 bux an hour or something…

Yes I understand the point, but that logic applies to literally any hobby.

Maybe I should go flip burgers instead of writing this comment…

There is some logic to this. I’ll admit I came to EU years ago in part because I figured if I was going to spend a good chunk of time on the computer playing a game, it made sense to find a replacement that at least had the potential to have some income rather than being a complete sink.

Whether someone wants sweating to be their hobby though if definitely something for very specific personal taste.

You can forget it, this is a thing of the past. There was a time before vehicles existed, when sweat was in demand for making fuel for tp chips. Also, there weren’t that many players yet. As the game grew, the race to the bottom was inevitable. From what I heard, market prices started around 12-14 ped per 1k sweat, when I joined it was 7, and I stopped sweating when it fell below 5. There are some videos out there like “X amazing ways to make money in Entropia” still recommending this, or fruit gathering and whatnot, but they are either outdated or unhelpful to begin with because they never consider your operational cost (electricity etc.) and opportunity cost (the money you lose by not spending your time more gainfully).

Now, this doesn’t mean to dismiss the activity altogether, and there still is a need for it, but like every other resource which is easy to get, it gets farmed to total exhaustion. Sweat rings are social events which can be fun without pumping endless amounts of money into it. Groups and events are organised regularly, some are choosing big mobs for excitement, others easy targets for the best possible harvest. Meanwhile, you meet people and chat. Sweating alone for the hope of collecting some peds is about the most frustrating, desolate pastime imaginable. Unless you justify it with some form of meditation or whatever makes you feel good. Whichever way you look at it, if money is the goal and you can’t spare even the smallest amount out of your pocket, then rethinking how you spend your time may be a better idea.

I have 3kw solar rig, no sweat cost here if i only sweat in daylight hours.
Sweating me a lambo.

Tbh though hardly sell sweat, like gave 40k to a dodgy insect dude on cyrene. He now wants 80k, should keep me busy another year.
Sweat market been dead and buried for long time, kinda like market for all filler mining/hunting mats, old looted weapons etc etc… most loot these days goes to tt tbh.
Over supply, and insufficient demand on many, many things. Like arkadia… they need a new range of craftable weapons… effiiency on them currently sucks Santa’s ass in comparison to like Aris, Armatrix etc. Nobody crafting Ark mats in general, dead economy (terra amps i guess still made).

Shrapnel was a sticking plaster solution to over supply, imho however economies game wide need big revamp to up demand.

decent budget integrated graphics laptop running 80w max can run this game at near 60FPS on low if you’re in it for the LONG term. (I bought a $200 Lenovo one for travel and to alleviate the strain on my gaming laptop since the fans run at full blast to open Google Chrome

no idea if UE5 will run on that but the plan from MA is to have the two clients run concurrently for the first year or two anyway.

Can also use it as an overnight crafting machine, chain those auto-craft BPs and you’re good to go.

Disclaimer: I buy sweat

Hunting is more fun

The bitterness is impressive considering most of you clearly didn’t watch the 1 minute video.

Play any other MMORPG instead of sweating if you want to make money while not actually playing the game and just sell on the black market. Shoot making 100s of accounts for raid shadow legends and just sell them with the doing the starter missions. Granted once again bots do most of this, but there’s so many better ways to make money while having more fun playing games than sweating.

My google surveys I did for December which take less than 5 seconds every time netted me $8. Granted it’s not much but shit, paid for a month of runescape membership for my ironman lol

To be fair, it’s nothing to do with your video.

Mentioning economy here is similar to asking a group of old men outside a barbershop what they think about the government.

I never said that’s what I wanted “if you want to make money while not actually playing the game.” The video was just showing what you actually get from 1 hour of sweating since people ask about it. That’s it.

There’s another valid justification for Sweating which applies even to folks who have an explicit profit motive, namely compounding. Players who Sweat are often in a rapid growth stage of researching and absorbing tons of information about Entropia’s features, systems, markets, etc., and brainstorming strategic ideas with other Sweaters. Many ideas won’t ultimately result in sustainable profit strategies, but when one does, it’s a lot better to have 1000 PED from Sweating than 10 PED to capitalize on it. A continuously compoundable opportunity which returns 131% per year (NOT per PED Card cycle and much less demanding) can turn 1000 PED into 100000 PED over 15 years.

This is false, most sweaters can’t find there way out of a brown paper bag and the others are bots. Not all of them. But often is definitely not the correct word to use.

Calling most sweaters incompetent is a baseless claim.

Plenty of successful players started sweating and learned the economy because they had to optimize every PED. You don’t become good at something by having unlimited resources. In fact, you learn by constraint.
