So after going into a legal fight about way too much money with a customer I regret not having my work properly documented. For this reason I am thinking of setting up a surveillance system in my workshop so that next time I can just pull up the video.
If I would ask a company to set this up for me, they would charge premium for it so I am thinking I might be able to set it up using a computer and six high definition cameras (four indoors, two outdoors, the outdoor ones might require a permit though) myself with your help.
Optimally, I would have 12 hours per day stored with the past six weeks seven days a week. The reason for this is a job extremely rarely takes more than two weeks and customers typically have four weeks to fight the invoice.
Any ideas on how I could set this up spending as little money as possible? I know you guys know a lot about everything.
We use Eufy system with a big fat SDD for storage.
Viewing live can be a bit clunky at times, because there is no overview where you can see all camera’s simultaneously. But other than that it works fine
I have no reason to watch it live and most likely the video would just sit on a hard drive until it is erased.
This is the second time this happened to me in two decades and I could have saved a lot of energy (and about $10,000) if I could have just pulled up a video from a month ago showing that we did the job we claimed.
Lorex have good system IMO. I’m still on analog DVR 4-500 USD but they got the more expensive NVRs with or without the wireless cams 750-100 USD. Good time too. black friday woo.
