GSI Market manipulation

I was watching prices on gsi’s and all of a sudden they jumped 50+ peds in price. I am skeptical to think that this is because of normal market methods of supply and demand. I saw that 8-10 gsi’s being sold buy one buyer and that buy also bidding on other gsi’s to increase the prices. I think that this is being done to raise prices and increase the prices on the tracking sites. Just wanted to let people know that this is what I think is going on and if you guys agree. Becareful buying!

Could be that the guy buying em all has alot stockpiled and wants to earn a hefty extra buck by trying to raise prices

Let’s fully encourage him! I shall throw two GSIs in the market soon that he can buy for slightly under his selling price!

drop rate fluctuate so much , I got 2 in one hunt about a week ago - but I’ve had none since. You do have a point tho I agree there’s some artificail manipulation going on.

During the hunt of Thorios for the Unique Legendary Axe there weren’t a lot of GSIs dropped in general.

I didn’t get a single one, nor have I looted one in a few weeks in fact. Sure I’ve heard folks get them, but I haven’t - nor have many of my friends.

I think the drop rate has decreased for GSIs, hence the increased prices. But I don’t doubt there is some manipulation taking place. I’m annoyed I didn’t buy a bunch at those lower prices during the past couple weeks. Oh well!

I brought this suspected manipulation to attention in this thread. I only suspected it. I still don’t know if this is the case.

The only way we could break this man is if a large amount of GSI were flooded onto the market. In order for him to maintain his market share he would have to buy the chips and mark them up. We don’t know how large this fellows bankroll is so we would either break him or give him actual control of the GSI in the game.

I subscribe to the theory that the resources in game is limited by the number of players.

I’m glad they are going up. They should be more. I remember when I used to get 2-300 for them! It used to be awesome to get that in your loot. Now they are chump change… The other issue, though, it is that skills are down respectively as well. I don’t know if that’s good or bad though. Having too many noobs chipping themselves uber @ 150 ped a pop. I don’t chip much myself, just a few tailoring skills when I got started. That shit’s expensive.

I encourage a low gsi price because it open a whide marked for skill sales. As gsi go down in price they also drop more frequently so i can not understand why people cry they not getting 200 ped for a gsi anymore but loot them 2 or 3 times more often. I would love to see the gsi price around 50 ped or lower. Its a joke you pay more for the gsi than the skills loaded on some skills.

I hope MA will remove all the empty Skill Implants from the loot and just put GSIs into the TT for free. If I want to buy skills, I want to buy skills and not some fucking chip that’s used to transport those skills (I don’t need to buy a storage box or something either if I want to buy a weapon, armor or something from someone else).

i disagree, ppl buying skills should be paying for the skills not the chips, i find this news disturbing. lets hope its just a peak, bring GSI under 100 peds :wise:

-EDIT- read it further, and it seems i’m not only one with my opions

Can I buy them from you for 10 PED? By the way, your nemesis armour shines especially bright today, and your hair REALLY looks nice. Did you do anyhthing to it?

I’m not one to call for MA to remove a particular item from the loot pool - since if they were actually listen to us and remove the GSIs from the droppable loot pool they would very likely NOT replace it with anything..not even a slight increase in PEDs dropped - but I must agree, Empty GSIs shuold be available for purchase from the Trade Terminal for a nominal fee..rather then forcing those wishing to sell or purchase skills to pay through the nose for one.

I agree with GSI prices going up. If a GSI was worth nothing market-wise, anyone and their grandmother would be offering their leet 10 skills in Laser Weaponry Technology for 1 ped.

Heck, that would make my idea I had yesterday work. BORROWING skills. I.e. I get you to chip however many skills it takes to get Martial Arts, and I’ll pay you for the 10% loss. Click-click-boom, hidden skill for me.

Sorry, but I don’t see any reason at all for this … what I would like to see is an open trade for skills, like for clothes, weapons, etc. …

For example some people buy some nice clothes, a coat, other stuff when they’ve had a nice HoF … then when money is short, they can sell the stuff again for a minimal fee of 1 ped (for the auction) - why not make it like that for the skills?

Let’s say someone has had a nice HoF, buys some Aim, then he’s short of money, and well, he just sells some Aim again - something like that.

I see no reason whatsoever that this type of wares should be traded in any other way than weapons, armor, clothes and so on.

The coolest thing would be if you could just upload skills to the auction for a fee of 1 ped (like for trading everything else), for 7 days, with an initial bid, buyout, etc.

An interested person could just make a bid and if he/she wins the auction, can visit an auctioneer to download the skills … simple as that, would get rid of the need for GSIs alltogether

For direct trade you could just use some sort of device - which decays, of course  - that opens up a window similar to the trading one, and just transfer skills in exchange for peds … again, a very easy solution to get rid of the need for GSIs alltogether.

/EDIT - this wouldn’t even eliminate the possibility to resell … for all those traders out there … you could just download cheap skills into yourself and then upload them for a slightly higher price to someone else … well, something like that  kinda reminds me of Johnny Mnemonic, maybe I’ve read and watched to much Science Fiction

Great idea

I just throw my :twocents: out there…

I think for a variety of reasons having GSI prices too low would only cause problems. (1) It would make it easier for someone to create multiple accounts and just move skills around (scammers include). (2) Earning skills gives a new player much more valuable experience then buying them would. (3) GSI’s give a player that “Global” feeling, too low and you would lose that.

As far as putting them in the tt… see my reason number 3 from above. I remember being really new and having like 10 ped to my name and getting a GSI, great feeling.. it keeps people playing the game. I think MA was really trying to do something nice for the players by making them 0 tt and dropping them randomly. They could have easily put them in the tt and taken the profits.

As to what is too low, imho.. I like a GSI price of 50-75 ped. People just can’t transfer all their skills for nothing, still a great bonus for the player who finds one, yet still somewhat affordable for people who want to buy skills.

edit
Oh and as far as on topic goes… Market manipulation is a part of everyday business, and all the best/succesfull businesses do it… Walmart, Microsoft, McDonalds… etc… I have no problem with someone trying to do it in PE. In the end… people are going to pay what they are willing to pay… no one is forcing the purchase of the GSI’s.

Seriously Mudkicker

After the changes in the skill system you can not compare this anymore. To earn skills now you need more time and the slowdown is significant on some skills. In the past you could hunt Berys Young with man mph forever and gained the same Skills. Its become harder and it seems, mindark wanna make it only a theoretical option to ever reach 10k on some skills. As the Skill System Changed your skills got converted 1:1 , there is no reason you can complain about it. I beat if all your gains would configurated to the skills you had if you ever used the new skill system you would going to cry as the most other old Players.

Your argumentation is pretty lame and i want cheap skills on the marked. And of course i want to pay for the Skills and not for the Gsi. I dont like when people say , hey look i have my skills im on the safe site pls make it as hard as possible to gain skills so i will never reached by the new players and stay über forver …

What would be the point to move skills to a sweating avatar and move them back again while loosing 20% in the process?

I think you should let the individual player decide about that. Not everyone enjoys a game in the same way as someone else - me for example, I’ve never bought skills and I’m not planing to buy many of them, maybe a few - I like skilling. Someone in my society chipped almost everything - she hates skilling. Whatever floats your boat …

Ok, I see where you’re coming from on this one … “but, but, … I can’t break even while hunting without getting a GSI or a Global” …

Just get rid of these things
