great disappointment

well i’ve played for a couple weeks, have several 1x0s, full rascal, fap5, and am +2k lb… i’ve dumped to much money into this game… and my last deposit was like 30 dollar out the window in 2 nights of no loots whatsoever. i’m hunting axable mobs, suitable to my weapons and armor (corns, faucies, any elder creatures i can axe efficiently).. i just want to hunt alot… it costs me a few USD every time i go hunting… and that’s insane. this game is nothing like i thought it would be. i think it’s dangerous, & as bad as a slot machine. is there something i’m missing? can i keep hunting later when i have higher skills without loosing 30 U.S. DOLLARS a night? a few hundred ped should get you a few thousand levels in longblade and no loss of money.. this is bullshit… oh, since i like hunting, is there any cool other mmorpgs that just let you HUNT your ass off for the price you pay?

i filed a support case pasting nearly this entire post… like they care.. they already got 100 bucks from me… :frowning:

At one time you could, but that is why a lot of ppl like myself are upset ;(

Hope PE wakes up, before it’s too late… PE Seems to think now that new players like your self will spend all the money and be happy.,. because wow they got giant ATH that you may get!

So come on and spend all you $$$$ and have fun doing it..

Guess the people that control PE now don’t live in the real world and don’t have families ???

Guess the people at PE don’t realized that for every $50, $100 that is required to play takes away from that person family ???

I know I have neglected my love ones and family because of PE.
My younger sister is having her first kid, this month I put in like 200 usd to pe; why?
Now that I think of it that 200.00 could have been an great gift for my younger sister and her baby to be..

PE is turning into smoke and mirrors really fast :frowning:

the last few times I felt robbed by PE while hunting.. :frowning:

If you’re just looking for as much entertainment for your money as possible, go play World of Warcraft.

PE isn’t for people like you (even though there are some, me included). It’s mainly made for people with more money than time, gamers who have a tendency towards gambling, people who enjoy trading and similar target groups. It’s not a game tailored towards the hardcore uber grinder - you can of course still do it, but like you experienced it will most likely cost you a lot of money.

Just came to my mind that you might not like fantasy games (like WoW), in that case I can recommend another game that I’ve recently started playing again, it’s called Neocron: www.neocron.com

The scenario is dark-future/cyberpunk (like Shadowrun) but it’s not a game for the faint-hearted because of heavy use of offensive language and a big PvP/PK aspect (besides a very important hunting/quest side). It also has an M-rating because of Strong Language, Use of Drugs, Violence, Sexual Content, Pol. Incorrect - so you need to be of a certain age to play it.

WoW looked cool but i dn’t think my 1.8 ghz athlon and 768 mb ram and radeon 9600 xt can handle that (believe me my vid card doesn’t perform like it should on this machine) sighs

nicole: you have no idea what kind of slum i’m in right now. i was hoping this would be a helpful passtime to get away from the stress.. i feel robbed … they need to make it more clear that this is a casino and not a damn mmorpg

It’s not … this is a Virtual Universe, not a game - and they are pretty clear about that. It’s not made for distracting you from stress and such in the first place, even though it’s possible.

Theres a good post from Neverdie about it, it can be found here:
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=126094&postcount=6

Again, if entertainment is what you’re mainly looking for, you should play an MMORPG and not “play” in a Virtual Universe (unless money doesn’t matter).

Many, Many VU’s back there was a times, when you put in 30 buks, teemed up with your best pal and killed mobs together all day. The loot on these days was great ( not uber ones, not huges ones, globals where even more less → but you always broke even, sometimes earned profit so you didnt had to deposit to buy more ammo ), ahh i so miss thouse days.

Then the dark lord tooked over MA office, the loot started to shrink, you could louse all your money with 1h hunt, many calypsolans died in hunger in thouse days ( they will never seen again in the craunds of Calypso sniff )
Me tooked all my Ped’s and let myself get freezed, so they could wake me up in better days. Mean while Dark lord tooked all over Calypso and chanesed it to thing, where you have to pay naw to Him, whatever you do.

But i see the light, all Nawdays Calypsolans, hardened to steel with all the suffering, will eventualy kill the Dark Lord and MA can again provied us more fun for less cash.
KILL THE DARK LORD IN YOUR OFFICE MA !

Ps! everything i wrote is the tale what Calypso used to be, and full of truth.

I must admit that after trying my hand at alot of things it does seem like this Dark Lord is a very prominent figure
Now i like the fact that its so close to a Virtual Universe the problem is just that you cant play without deposeting money as its so hard just to break even
If you could at least break even after doing some hard work for your starting equipment then it wouldnt be such a sad tale for most people
Ive lost the will to keep playing PE as it does indeed seem to be too hard to play without spending all your money on it
And i was well aware that this wasnt just a “game” but it shouldnt be a hole where i just dumped all my money into i should at least be able to keep up an exsistence without without having to give the system all my money
I demand my wellfare check

The “Virtual Universe” claim is bull. This game is not a virtual universe since its economy is controlled by the loot pool and loot levels. This game is a BUSINESS!!. Therefore PE’s goal is to make a profit not run a cute little non for profit entity paid for with fairy dust and nice dreams. So for PE to make a profit it must take in more money then it puts out. End result?? 75% must lose money for maybe 20% to make money. I’ve read alot on these posts and most of it is grumbling about the loot levels. Bottom line if everyone went out and turned a profit on thier mining, crafting and hunting, MA would be out of business.

So after that is said lets look at what this awesome game really is, it is an MMORPG. And it is in every sense of the word. All of the others have a real economy as well, just look at Everquest accounts for sale for $500, or certain weapons on E-bay for hundreds of dollars. MA has just come out and stated it at the start. Where the others deny it and in fact try to discourage it, MA has embraced the concept.

Now the problem for the player and MA is this. Can you blow $30 in one hunting trip/Mining trip/crafting run?? Easily. Can you blow $30 in one night in the competing MMORPG’s yes you can (purchase cost plus subscription fee) could you blow more then the purchase and subscription fee? Not really. So how does PE remain competitive in the category in which it competes which is MMORPG’s? Pretty much giving just as much bang for the buck as the competitors.

Bottom line is this, its been a bit of time since the CNN story came out which probably drew a good chunk of the players currently in the game. Well they are gonna reach thier sweat cap soon and if they cannot manage to still have fun in the game then they are going to leave. So do loots need to increase? Sure do, becaue without the large number of casual players contributing to the economy by buying weapons, armor and all of the other things available the game will go nowhere and in fact start to decline.

So all in closing, if you expect to get rich in this game? aint gonna happen to you (odds are against it, for you to make money someone else has to lose a bit more then you made) Can you make a profit in the short term until all the newbies get fed up and quit when they are relegated to hours upon hours and days upon days of gathering fruit and dung? Probably (then the economy collapses) Are you gonna break even playing this game? Probably not. Should you expect to pay a modest competitive amount to play this game at a resonable progression level compared to the other MMORPG’s and even have a chance to make a profit? YES.

I agree with most of your post except this part tbh
As its been proven that you cant even pay a reasonable amount and at least break even
Compared to other MMORPG’s you pay the monthly fee and thats it nothing more if you would pay the same amount per month into PE you wouldnt get anywhere as i see unless you lucked out (the casino effect again) and you most definetly wouldnt make a profit

Allso i dont think most of the players would want to constantly profit from the game they would just at least like to break even after a hunting trip so they didnt have to deposit even more money just to keep theyre equipment repaired and then yet more money if they wanted ammunition or anything else

I don’t think the problem of the thread starter is paying “a modest competitive amount to play this game at a resonable progression level” but burning through the amount of money he did in such a short time.

I agree with you, the game has to be fun to keep people playing. If the game is just frusterating then people will quit (hmm i smell seat prices going through the roof lol)

I havent deposited yet and dont plan on it, but at the same time I dont plan on withdrawing (my ped account has been dropping pretty drastically). So I wont be grabbing anything out of the economy. From some other posts i’ve learned that Melee weapons seem to be decaying even when you miss the mob lol.

I feel the same Nicole i think it is time to stop and thinking wtf iam i doing

I realized that too that it’s not efficient to play atm anymore. I got my deposit of 200 peds yesterday and atm I have 50+ peds left. Made only two 50 ped hunt runs (rest of the money went for decay costs) and now I have thought that when I run out of my last peds, I will just keep wandering planet with nothing to do except chatting friends and help newcomers. :broke:

I don’t wonder that why banks consider MA as a gambling company. :deal:

Hopefully their advertising implenting will work. That I’m going to try and if it’s not working, then I think I will change game too or even better, focus even more on my studies

Well, try to find the suitable phase of playing PE. I mean, find how much
time you can spend on Calypso per week. I give an example:

Next year I intend to deposit 200 USD, with that money I will get about
333 hours of decent gameplay (0.6 USD / h, it is in the range published
by MA itself, little less than my performance, but I can squeeze on that
budget - no doubt!). Let’s see, I will play about 10 months a year
(there are some travels and other offline periods). That is 10 x 4 weeks,
so it would be 8.4 h per week. It could be 2h on Tuesdays, 2h on
Thursdays and 4.4h during the weekend. Sounds manageable!
Also the pricetag is OK.

I surely has no more time for online games than that…

But if you spend 7h per each day online, and if you perform badly,
you burn up 1 USD per hour. And it is 200 USD deposited per month.

It is true. Non-depositors have a real short life in this game. I believe there is some sort of mechanism to get them off the game after a while. I had over 450 PEDs in my card, plus equipment worth some 300 PEDs, too. I didn’t deposit either. Now, after almost a month since I started, absolutely everything I do turns into a huge disastrous money loss. It was never this bad. I could always make a living before this all started but suddenly I’m getting poor. And I hunt as efficiently as possible, and I haven’t done any dumb mistake in the game to be losing money all of a sudden. I know few non-depositors who have come as far as I did, and none of those have nearly the amount of skills I have. And all the other avatars that are as skilled as I am, are not nearly as poor as me. Over the past few days, my card’s money shrinked from 450 PEDs, to 100. I’m more than sure that my stay in PE must have already triggered that mechanism for me. Why would MA let non-depositors play for long anyway? We didn’t contribute anything to the game, and each of us could always take money away from them (which isn’t my intention anyway). They have to get rid of non-depositors, especially after NEVERDIE’s purchase, because now the game is crawling with people who dream of getting rich out of scratch.
I am soon going to have to quit the game. Many friends offered me help, and even to deposit a considerable amount of cash for me, but I didn’t accept it, for two reasons:

  1. I would feel like shit if people simply gave me money.
  2. I know it would go away as quickly as my own money is currently going down the drain, too, so it wouldn’t really take me far.

All I can hope for, is that if I survive a little longer, all of this will be oiver and go back to normal again.

P.S.: Yes, melee weapons do decay even when you miss, and sometimes they decay even if you swing it at thin air.

im new, and still havent deposited. But have you considered other games? i am coming off a Everquest addiction where i paid 15 bucks a month. That is extremely cheap for the amount of time i spent playing. Now i realize that $15 wont last long in PE, but if you deposited that much every month you atleast have some PEDs to work with when you get low. Relying on luck as a means of a steady cash flow will eventually lead to being broke. My short time in PE i realize that PE is all luck unless you are a reseller/trader. just a thought. hope things work out for you.

It is true. Non-depositors have a real short life in this game. I believe there is some sort of mechanism to get them off the game after a while. I had over 450 PEDs in my card, plus equipment worth some 300 PEDs, too. I didn’t deposit either…

I think you neglected this little sentence, Spennce.

And btw, that post wasn’t whining, I was just stating that I think there is something that takes non-depositors out.

You do make an interesting point Huskie
It would be pretty bad if PE actually did work like that
I mean if there were a mechanism to make non depositers disappear
We will never know if there is tho as im quite certain MA wouldnt tell us if there were so we can only hope that there isnt

Spennce i highly doubt you could get by for 150 PED each month
The thing about other pay to play MMOs is that you never end up broke with destroyed weapons and being unable to make money without putting more cash into the game (unless of course your willing to spend a few days collecting small peices of dung) it just doesnt happen
Tho it often does in PE and thats what people are slightly annoyed about

I must admit i really like PE i like the way the game works and the whole concept plus its an awesome community
But the fact that me and Gabriel are close to being broke and after that only have sweating left (plus sweat is going down in value) makes it abit depressing to keep on playing

i know you said you didnt deposit. and i dont know that you can. my point is that any other MMO with the play value and deepth that PE has you can’t even play for free. you HAVE to pay. and im not saying that 150 ped would due you a month, but it would give you something more than luck to run on. i wasnt calling you a whiner, i am sure you are frustrated. But you are frustrated with a game that you have spent $0 dollars on.
