Give us compensation for removed blueprints

In January a bunch of blueprints were removed to make the game easier for new players and then Mindark kind of “forgot” about the part affecting older players.

Before the end of January we were supposed to get compensated for the removed blueprints. The compensation was supposed to be a minimum of the TT value on top of which some blueprints that were wrongfully removed were supposed to be added back to game. Mindark has since then refused to communicate on the matter.

I suggest for starters that you at least add the TT value to our accounts immediately since I assume that just like with everything else this project has been abandoned. If by some miracle the lists ever will be finalized, the rest of the compensation can be added later.

I urge every player affected to file a support case demanding compensation. Sticking the head in the sand should not be a viable business practice.

Isn’t the max TT of BP 1ped?

So

Yeah

Appreciate its annoying, but they have much bigger issues facing them

Nope it is not, most of the removed blueprints are limited. For me personally, after being inactive for about seven years, that’s a 100-200 ped TT. I can’t imagine how much it is for the people who crafted or collected actively. Probably thousands per account.

Bump for broken promises

The silence of MA on this topic says all about how much they care about their customers. Why would anyone seriously consider investing when anything can be taken away at any moment.

At first I thought people were exaggerating and worrying regarding nothing and I was looking forward to the change. I believed MA so for me it was an opportunity to get some storage cleaned AND get something for worthless blueprints. I also helped defend them by replying to threads on the matter informing people that MA had not finalized their lists and that some blueprints would come back.

When it was a week delayed it was fine, MA are bad at planning and at least we got an update on what was happening. Since then it has been silent. Feels like me and Bee are the only ones asking for it and they actively choose to ignore us. It can’t be that hard to say “I have no update on it let me check”. If there is no timeline for it, it means it is no longer on the table and abandoned.

Mindarks has almost hit their goal of making us forget. People minimize the issue since they don’t really know crafting. It is a bad look and until resolved I will, just as with every other shady business practice, inform new players about it. They can’t bury their head in the sand until a problem, that they themselves actively created, goes away.

It’s not that “people don’t really know craft” it’s more like: people KNOW Mindark very well!

Oh I mean that some people have amounts of blueprints that most players can’t even comprehend unless they done a bunch of crafting themselves.

Honestly, this compensation narrative of expecting TT Value and hoping for Market Value in the best case strikes me as an unacceptably weak tee-ball serve to MindArk. Obviously this is a crude, first-order, Econ 101 level model which we could and would all criticize in any context demanding greater precision, but if we mark every Entropian’s valuation of a given item on a number line (0 allowed for Entropians who don’t want it at all), then the Market Value at the time of the item seizure “would” (crudely speaking) partition the set of valuations into owners and non-owners, because “everyone” with a higher valuation than the Market Value would have already bought the item and everyone with a lower valuation than the Market Value would have declined to buy or sold the item. The average transaction price among voluntary sales of an item is an acutely biased estimator of the average valuation among all owners of that item. A policy of offering only Market Value as compensation would at best match the lowest valuation across all owners and undercompensate all other owners in the universe, and at worst undercompensate all owners in the universe by an arbitrarily large margin (potentially as large as the difference between the kth largest valuation and the k+1st largest valuation, where k is the number of copies of the item in circulation).

The fact that MindArk might not even rise to the challenge of the tee-ball serve is basically comedy, although I can appreciate that those who lost even more than I did in the seizure might not find it funny. I don’t actually know how much I lost, but I find far more reason to lament harms such as the long-term infrastructural damage to Entropia’s notion of ownership, the diminished prospects for individuals to find and synthesize value in things and ways not widely understood or appreciated by others, and the strain the accompanying design philosophy imposes on the paradigmatic conception of Entropians as a big tent community in favor of a narrow conception in which whether and what “uses” an item has is basically predetermined and invariant across the community. Personally, I would voluntarily accept whatever immediate loss I suffered from the seizure and even donate maybe 1000 PED or more if it somehow guaranteed this sort of thing and all other possible development decisions with similar consequences would never happen again.

To this end, I almost prefer the whole ordeal be as screwed up as possible to deter its recurrence rather than having some pacifying closure which solves 1.5% of the problem. But of course I also acknowledge the rights of those who are relying more heavily on the promise of compensation and respect the importance of following through for their sake.

mistaken double post

There is a formula for determining how long before MindArk actually gets something done. It’s a bit rough and not always accurate but I think at the moment is the best we have:

RT x 3 = minimum time before completion by MA
RT x 3(3) = more likely amount of time before completion by MA

RT is “Realistic amount of Time you would reasonably expect from any other company”

So lets say another company announces they are developping a new UI and will deploy as soon as possible, you’d probably expect it to be like within the next couple of months. Lets assume 2-3 months. So we take 2.5 months as Realistic Time.

Multiply that by 3 for MA. So that would mean, don’t expect it to be deployed for at least 7.5 months in MAs case.

But, more realistically, multiply that amount of time by 3 again to get the more likely timeframe = 1.875 years

It does check out

Lets use that formula here for BP cleanup project:

How long would you expect any other normal company to take to get this done after announcement? maybe like 1-2 months? I mean if they announced it, then they must be actively working on it right? So it shouldn’t really take more then 1-2 months to get it done, right?

Ok so lets use 1.5 then as RT. Multiply by 3, gives us 4.5 months MINIMUM for MA.

Multiply by 3 again gives us 13.5 months, or just over 1 year, as a more realistic timeframe for completion by MA.

So, patience my little grasshoper, we haven’t even reached the minimum timeframe for MA

We’re still waiting on compensation for tier upgrading skill removal… MA gives zero fucks about their promises

We desperately need a planet partner to buy them out.

I guess you missed the notice recently, they stated they were facing technical challenges to fulfill that promise so they encouraged everyone to list those skills on auction. They said they would buy every week, I think every Thursday but I can’t remember for sure exact day. This was fairly recent, maybe 1-2 months ago. I extracted and sold mine already.

That was in 2022 and they 100% broke their promise after years of complete silence

And they keep doing the same stuff, people cash out and leave, and they wonder why player retention is low and the game never grows.

I’m sure they can find an excuse to NOT compensate for any of the BP they nuked out of existence.

We have not found a way to make them understand that this is not ok…

Where was this notice posted?

This makes so much sense now, thank you ?

Because people stopped caring. Me and Bee are the only ones who continue to bring this topic up, rest of the player base forgot about it. Even @Venture Bros who I kinda expected to be vocal about it.

MA ignores stuff until it goes away. Notice the lack of responses here from officials? They can’t even communicate that there is no timeline as of today, because it is abandoned completely.

Compensation was a fun promise but as of right now I would be happy if I could get the option to TT my own items.

On the post above yours from @Angel O2 Mercer . I remember selling mine back then, bought ESI, chipped out, put near 20k% MU as BO on auction and then sent support case telling them about it just because a few months have passed from the announced. Everything went smooth too.

Huh… I looked but didn’t find. Tbh I probably saw the post from WKD where he quoted Bertha and probably didn’t realize this was old, my bad..
