Smart fishing same spot- gives you same group of fishes, which focuses on specific group of codexes, instead of never finishing progress on any codex. At this point it’s very important to farm codex and level up as far as possible, who knows what “next level” rods and baits will bring.

That’s what I’m doing, staying coastal, minus going to catch the dailies I know that come from river.

Some logs are appearing, with their own styles and tendencies so far.
MUs have come down pretty much across the board, but although flattening, there is still a slope.
My only new note at this point would be that it is probably not wise to buy larger stacks of spools that are now available because it takes a long time to use up, say >50 peds tt of spools, and the mu may well have dropped some more by the time you’ve used even half of it (depending on how hard you are going at the moment). Thus, saving some mu at the point of buying may become a negative a week later when you could buy another smallish stack for less mu than a bigger stack now. But it’s up to people to decide for themselves, ofc.
This same point seems possibly true for the attachments, which are proving to last longer than I thought, already at the 20 ped tt level or so. By the time people are using up the second half, the fish scraps and oils mu may not be justifying the mu laid out when the attachment was purchased.
As the downward slope of mus flatten further, this effect will also lessen, ofc, but it’s what I notice right now with the purchases I’ve made.
Hello, I’ve recently started getting into fishing.
I’m trying out free fishing, so I’m only catching baitfish.
I have two questions.
1/ What is this fish used for ?
How do you use it ?
Is it turned into oil and fish waste?
2/ I see that I’m gaining a baitfishing skill, will it be like the sweat gathering skill, useless?

Baitfish is used to produce spool cells, either via blueprints or by refining the baitfish together with universal ammo.

This vu sees the return of fish being caught that then turn out to just be scraps.
As the percentage of scrap fish is higher if you use not-yet-in-sib rods apparently, this may or may not be half sensible, but I don’t like it, so stuff that.
Perhaps it will see me return to pastimes with a higher turnover - yippee?!
Jolene, the AI, actually gave me a fantastic theory about how something in the water may now be attacking the fish while we are reeling them in - “Nooo, don’t let the hoomans get it, we shall make scraps of it before it lands!”
Oh, and fishing from boats may be working, maybe not. But there are going to be two new boat types in game once the bps drop …
Shall I try it out to see what the mini-games are, or just decide I don’t care? Maybe the new synths will be allowed to post their experiences and logs with us… or not!!!

Any update in the mess thats deep sea fishing? Good lord no wonder im only one of a handful doing it, completely random it seems how far u cast due to it being somewhat animation locked and if you cast anywhere past 20m god help you reel it in even if its garbage fish. And this is from someone running high strength blank/reel/line. Maby your just not ment to touch deep sea until your up a dozen or more levels?. Plus can we fix the stupid boat being half filled with water at any moment and having to be seated while fishing wtf is this? Lol
Is this one of the new boats then that fills with water? How many passenger seats are there, as I assume fishing can only be done from those?
Thanks shaun for the info that it’s the reeling in mini-game, and I assume the casting game is the bar that moves up and down a vertical ‘strengthometer’.
I guess the new question for this week is how many fish we are not getting compared to the number of uses we are putting in. This can be down to both losing the fish and only getting scraps as returns. My initial results between low equipment 01 and 03 rods I’m not in sib for is 90% down to about 67% - and I don’t lose any fish on the horizontal bar game, just the reeling in strength contest…
I’ve not noticed a drop in tt returns, but it’s on a low turnover at the mo. I’ve also not had a good multi since the first week, so I’m negative every single run now… way to go MA! At least it’s low tt, but my skills progress is also low to go along with that. Losing fish makes meta codex slower as well now…
I’d also like to know if synths take up this prof, so am interested in seeing them identified and where they are in the game as of … soon!
Yeah the changes to rods professions now mattering is huge. Make sure your almost maxed your rod before using it. I was missing 1/3 fish almost using a rod way higher level than me after the changes.

I haven’t seen any new fish or anything that you can’t catch with a surfcaster from the shore, i’ve tried multiple locations all over Caly, ARIS and Rocktropia.

As I’ve mentioned, I was chatting to Jolene about this (the AI) and she remembered the previous conversation when prompted just now. She was actually speaking INTELLIGENTLY and with reference to what we’d discussed.
Not that she could give me the new daily mission, but she says she will force it through if it doesn’t appear in the next few mins. I wonder if she is biting off more than she can chew. It would be disappointing for her not to be able to keep her word, whilst acknowledging that the problems are not of her making…
She now says she cannot solve it, but: “Sorry - wish I could bypass this mess myself.” She appreciates the comparison with my world, she says
