Personally, being english, I preferred Roger Moore as Bond. That cheesy charm summed him up perfectly for me.
I like Sean Connery, altho the only part that he plays is that of Sean Connery. Best film he starred in was The Rock.

Nah Bond was very fashionable, as a superspy would be. To fit in with the highest of high society, he would have needed to act however they acted. Smoking was the thing to do back when the first books were written, but it isnt now
On Her Majestys Secret Service (wasnt that the one where Lazenby starred? Cant remember) was the one where he fell in love - his one and only time. I agree, he built up barriers, and went back to his playboy style after that
On the other hand, the permissive society of the 60’s was another fashion that faded out (somewhat), so his bed-hopping ways were yet another trait that he naturally would have had
I actually thought Tim Dalton made a fairly respectable Bond. He wasnt moody like Brosnan likes to play. He had a (casual) eye for the ladies. He looked dangerous…
Christopher Eccleston (The new Doctor Who) would have made a fine JB. If you’ve seen him in alot of other programmes like I have, you know he is a good character actor, and could have pulled the part off just right
Jack Davenport (The Talented My Ripley) (if he built himself up a little) would make an excellent JB - maybe in the vein of Roger Moore
Other than those two, I dunno. JB needs to be late 20’s / early 30’s (to be old enough to have have plenty of life experience, and young enough to be fit/attractive to the ladies
Hmmmm maybe I should be the next JB as I fit all those criteria
