Does Loot get better with skills?

Stupid question, maybe.

I have the impression that with your skills the loot is getting better. I am huinting snableshopts and other low level things for about a month. I finally get skills around 300 with my rifle.

Anyhow, I really get the impression that my loot is getting much better compared to the beginning - I get goblin armor parts ocassionaly, I got a 48 PED loot (from ONE critter) in my last hunt (and actually did a profit on this).

If I look back two months or so, all I would do is get shitty loot.

Am I right? Do your chances for a good loot slowly grow with your skills?

no. but the cost of getting the loot (killing the mob) is reduced with skills, as you’ll do better dmg and get hit less.

No, i don’t think the chanses to get good loot is directly connected to skills. Indirect, you get more efficient in your hunt and lose less from missed shots etc.

Good and bad loots comes in waves. There might be weeks of bad loots and weeks of good loots. My last bad period stretched for almost 8 weeks. It didn’t matter what or where I hunt. If you are in a good loot period be sure to make use of it

One quite common belief is that skills effect in contents of loot (not ped value).

This is due old irc chat but I dont think anyone has ever studied it properly.

A agree with theory that good and bad loots comes in waves. I have very good loot two weeks ago (i got 3 hof in two days) but from that time I m lossing with every hunt tour cca. 20%-50% and so Im in sell out status again. I m waiting for better times  in future.

another thread like this.. that makes it… hm.. 56 for the last month  :tongue2:

and no it has nothing to do with it

better skills mean that u can use better weapons more efficient. Better Weapons produce more damage per second and that means u can kill harder mobs which normally have better loots in average.

Skills itselfe doesnot increase the loot.

Well, this is nice, but it is not what I experience.

A month ago I RARELY had loot over 1PED in the newbie area east of Port Atlantis.

Today good loot is still rare, but I get larger than 1 PED regularly an sometimes it goes really up.

THONA, I’m inclined to agree with you 100%. I have also noticed that from starting as a n00b my loots have increased dramatically as my skills raise.

When I started loots were around 1 - 99pec when killing mobs like snable, bery, molisk, cornundacauda etc etc (you know the n00bie mobs I’m sure)..

Now when I kill these mobs I’m geting loots around 2 - 5 ped on these mobs (apart from snable, they usually give crap loot anyway  )

When hunting mid level mobs such as Troxy, Armax Bulls, Goki, Thorifoid, Longu etc etc… get loot around 3 - 8 ped and often loot nice items… whereas before almost always bugger all loot.

Also, since skilling up the minis & globals come regularly.

Therefore I believe your skills come into the equation… if not then what’s the point in skilling up? I mean the increase in your damage inflicted is negligible for skills to only affect dmg inflicted + evade etc..

IMO, u’re just lucky

Nah - a logical mind helps a little too, but I wont go into that because we all have our own ways of doing things ingame

being a logical thinker just helps me on my way :wise:

everyone got that kind of loots from noob mobs before they nerfed loots so not every mob had loot. try keeping track of how big your loots are. you’ll see that they are based on the HP of the mob, and have a pretty set-in-stone range

All i’m going to say about this is that everyone i’ve asked says they’re skill huntting profits them more and they global more after 2000 of there combat skill(handgun, longblade…)

It could be that they are just more effiecent could be that you have a better chance at getting a global with more skills.

Sort of like it’s easyer to loot a jaguar harness from a Atrox old Alpha then a Atrox Young but the chance is still always there.

okie.. and may I ask how long you have been playing?

I might not be a uber player.. and I might not be one of those thats been playing the longest time. but with 1.5 years of experience I think I can call myself qualified to say that loots does not get better because or your skills.
And yes I have tested to skill with less skilled avatars and with more skilled avatars. the loot is the same for everybody. its about luck. and with more skills its easier to break eaven.

I am almost 100% confident skills dont matter, but sure. Some tend to hof alot more frequent than others

some hunt more than others too
and there are many different mobs in the game

Well essentially yes skills to make a difference if it’s that itmakes you more “lucky” or if it’s the fact that you can kill more creatures in less time = more chances of getting a hof along with spending less money.

SO SKILL UP IT"S WORTH IT.

It has something to do with the skills, me and my Mentor is often hunting together and she is always getting better loots then me. normaly she got 1-4 ped, I only get 1 PED and less.

I start thinking it may be something like that the loot on a given critter is determined, but if your skills are too low you basically get smaller loot than “optimal”. Similar to good weapons which are working sub-optimal if your skills are not high enough.

I am not in for more than two months, but really, in the beginning I was NOT getting anything that was more than a PED, and now, form the same critters, I regularly get stuff above one PED. PLUS I do get armor and weapons and other interesting stuff, which also did not happen in the beginning. I hunted a month or so just skilling without getting ANYTHING that was not money or raw materials.

In the beginning I was rarely making a break even on hunting runs, now I get a much better return - not a profit, but it is often way above a 80% return or so. I really remember basically earning like 30 pec on the ped in the start.

The loot do sway up and down and it may be long waves…weeks of better and weeks of worse. So, i think it is a bit too early to come to conclusion. you might just have experienced half a cycle in that particular ground and with that particular mob. I would not be surprised if you are back at pec picking again at that place/mob in a few weeks.

Anyhow, it is great when the loots are better than usual! Just enjoy the ride
