Data needed to update jdegre optimizer skill curve

thanks a lot, hijacker, for this initiative. I have had a look at the charts with the new data and they look great.

if I can make a suggestion, it would be very good to get data not only starting from 10k skills points, but also form some lower skill points. the issue is that the function [skill points] → [TT value] needs to be built incrementally, so the starting point must be fully accurate; otherwise, the only info we get is the slope of the curve, but not the actual [x,y] point of the function.

in other words, it would be great if we could get data from skill points starting in the range of 8400 - 10k; so, the final skill points (after the “fake” implant of 1250 TT chip) gets in the range of 10k -12k.

the problem is that the current Google Form does not allow skill values below 10k. any chance to update the form to allow a wider range?

cheers,
/jdegre.

I’ve updated the minimum starting skill to 8000, please fill with data!

In the early days the skillgain got reworked and Marco Behrmann posted a picture to explain differences of old and new skillgain.
(Whoah! MindArk still communicated back then!!)

I couldn’t find it anywhere on the internet, so i am quite sure it was sooooo long ago that it still got posted on entropia-pioneers.org forum.
Luckily I copied it back then!
Look at this tiny resolution:

Why am I only seeing this now, am I right in saying that this is a long tailed distribution ?

Depends if you want to use proper vocabulary. It’s left skewed.

added some more datapoints up to 64k

Left skewed could indicate some sort of power law distribution correct ?

Looks to me like the skill distribution formula comes close to

\begin{align}
&\left(\left(\frac x7\right)^2\sqrt{\frac{||x|-3|}{|x|-3}}+\left(\frac y3\right)^2\sqrt{\frac{\left|y+\frac{3\sqrt{33}}7\right|}{y+\frac{3\sqrt{33}}7}}-1 \right) \
&\qquad \qquad \left(\left|\frac x2\right|-\left(\frac{3\sqrt{33}-7}{112}\right)x^2-3+\sqrt{1-(||x|-2|-1)^2}-y \right) \
&\qquad \qquad \left(3\sqrt{\frac{|(|x|-1)(|x|-.75)|}{(1-|x|)(|x|-.75)}}-8|x|-y\right)\left(3|x|+.75\sqrt{\frac{|(|x|-.75)(|x|-.5)|}{(.75-|x|)(|x|-.5)}}-y \right) \
&\qquad \qquad \left(2.25\sqrt{\frac{(x-.5)(x+.5)}{(.5-x)(.5+x)}}-y \right) \
&\qquad \qquad \left(\frac{6\sqrt{10}}7+(1.5-.5|x|)\sqrt{\frac{||x|-1|}{|x|-1}} -\frac{6\sqrt{10}}{14}\sqrt{4-(|x|-1)^2}-y\right)=0
\end{align}

Had to find this thread to answer a question, might aswell bump it! :slight_smile:

added a few more data points up to 90k

So is skill/ped formula published or is it another case of publicly funded/seeded science that benefit only one entity?

for fast skilling you just focus on mobs that have a good hp to lvl ratio due to having high regen as opposed to hp, killing those low hp high regen mobs which have a respectively high lvl will help you skilling fast.
The chart from this thread shows you how much ped tt value per skillpoint is needed, over 90k points you are looking at 3ped+ per point

Link is in very first post :slight_smile:

added some more datapoints around 94/95k to show the scale of the wave at high end going between 3-3.6ped per point

I’m trying to track down the formula with jdegre’s tool being down and I’m not seeing a clear formula mentioned. When you dig into sheet 5, there is a formula for TT cost per skill point (not cummulative TT to to reach X skill level, but that’s just an anti-derivative question). When I played around with that formula, it does seem like the TT amounts are off when I try them against some ESI on auction. Not sure if that’s what jdegre used or if it was Hijacker playing around with just a rough approximation, especially with the sine-wave looking charts on the other tabs.

In short, anyone know what jdgre’s actual formula for calculating the TT value of a given a start vs. final skill amount? Was it also a sine-wave function, or is that something that came up later in these discussions?

Jdegre’s site didn’t use a formula, it estimated off of thousands of data points
