Cyrene : Thunderous Gems Accessibility Issue & Proposed Solution

Starting Point

At the moment, thunderous gems drop extremely rarely. Hunters who have already completed the unstable assassinator mission and are well‑equipped enough to hunt thunderous golems have almost no access to these gems, because the spawn is constantly farmed by very high‑level players with extremely expensive gear that most hunters simply cannot afford (due to rarity or cost).
It is extremely frustrating to hunt thunderous golems for dozens of hours without getting a single gem. This imbalance in loot access discourages many capable hunters from starting or continuing this otherwise very interesting quest.

Suggestion

Introduce a new ARC Prestige mission — or improve the existing ARC Prestige mission “Putting Out the Fire” — allowing hunters who have an unstable assassinator in their inventory to choose 1 × thunderous gem chad as a reward instead of rare skills.

Expected Outcome

Without significantly increasing:

  • the total number of gems entering the game,
  • or the yearly number of stable assassinators produced,

This change would allow eligible hunters to secure one gem roughly every ~2 hours of golem hunting (thunderous or otherwise), and only once every 24 hours, due to the mission cooldown (1000 days required for the full mission) and the time required to complete the daily mission (~2000 hours, or 83 days more required for the full mission).

This system would be exclusively available to Cyreneans who have completed the epic ARC Prestige mission, which would also motivate more hunters to engage with this mission chain. It would also benefit those who are actively working on the stable assassinator mission.

It would naturally exclude:

  • high‑level alts with no mission progress,
  • players who have already finished the stable mission and continue hunting purely for profit by farming and reselling gems.

Of course, gems would continue to drop from thunderous golems during regular hunts just as they do today.

Additional Note

This proposal does not concern thunderous droplets, which drop as rare loot from mechalupines during the Snowbase event and are also heavily farmed by all types of players, including top hunters who naturally obtain more of them.

So you are proposing that we should take away an advantage people gained by grinding just to make it easier and cheaper for you?

Sure. I would also like to remove all level requirements and make every boss drop an UL weapon every time on ARIS.

Prestige already has a ton of free money repeatables.

Its a great suggestion, it doesnt take away anyones advantage as the top tier players will still win the regular shard drops and it gives everyone who has put in the time to grind to that point a path to continue working on their gun

I think we got what we asked for just getting shards to drop from snowbase, I highly doubt they will provide an easier route to them than that.

However if you really want to make this suggestion, you should post it in cyrene discord, where it will be seen. As we did when requesting another avenue to collect them.

so in a game based on skill, people that has EXPENSIVE Gears (read put a Ferrari equivalent in game)
should not have any benefit form having it ?

read it again

This is a very bad suggestion, pretty much explained by Skeptic and Marco.

Because people completed the unstable, does not mean MA owes these people cheap progress to the Stable…

The TT losses people have to endure grinding thunderous golems are extreme and they also contribute a lot to the planet revenue and you are asking to circumvent that.

My suggestion was a new daily.

24 hour cool down
24 hour cut off, mission clears and resets if you dont finish.

Ask:
500 Thunderous golem kills

Rewards:
1 Thunderous Gem Shard.

Reasoning being, the mob was designed to be this difficult for a reason, its the gatekeeper of one of the games best weapons.

500 kills is still a sht load but it gives u a fallback reward respecting your efforts as often you find yourself putting in all this work and not getting a drop.

This doesn’t soften or dampen the mission, in fact it gives additional incentive for hard work and striving to better yourself.

Thoughts?

I like that buck, it doesn’t lower the bar, but it evens out the risk vrs NO REWARD that has plagued cyrene. which has been very bad PR for the player base. maybe merging it with his idea to put it behind prestige is a good idea too.

I like the direction Buck and the reset if not complete, 500 is maybe too high though. Im not top tier dps but Im up there and 500 kills would take me 5-6 hours going all out so Im guessing for some of the others doing the mission it would take them 8-10 hours

10 hours to get 1 shard would be. A lot faster drop rate than in snow base. To get 1,000 shards would be apox 2.74 years at 1 unit a day (10 hour), or 1.37 years at 2 drops a day.

How long did the rest of the mission take? This part I think is supposed to be comparable to the length of the rest of the mission combined.

I get it I want this gun too as fast as possible. Especially since the planet is going to blow up and take all our hard work with it.

So increasing the rate makes sense…but we have to understand, if that’s what we are asking for. Then MA is going to want the cost to aquire, to scale upwards, if they are going to approve it. (Imo ofc!)

Mission will probably have 24 h cooldown in ARC prestige case ( or 21h for some other daily in Cyrene like fenris) .. so its : 1) you take mission ..2) 10h hunt .. 3) + 24h cooldown ..and you take mission .. count as minimum of 34h for a gem .. x1000 ..34 000 h is 3.88 years .. ? but why not ..its better than hunting 4 x 2 h 30 min with 0 gems.

Yeah it certainly would be, especially if the spawn was available to grind the rest of the time.

Personally speaking, i bought a C-120 for 24k ped. before i loose 100k TT to make a Stable i can have more opportunities.

what all say has some reason, its basically a “i want to have it easier than Image had it” reduced to minimal terms.

NOW, let’s consider the bitter truth: Everyday a certain number of shards enters the loot pool (sadly we know that there is not “one every 30k shoot”, would be easyer.
let’s say an arbitrary number, 20 per day. as there is 1 hunter on Thunderous, he for sure collects all 20, 2 player maybe 10 and 10… 30 players shoting… someone will go home dry. this explains not only THIS but ALL resources in Entropia.

maybe one day MA sets the loot as “xx percent fixed rate” but even if your RNG allowed you a certain resource, if all are already dropped you might get just shrapnels…

I do find this ideea interesting, and I guess i`m not the only one.

That atleast gives u “a carrot” to run after. You know by the end of 500 kills, get something.

They should do some changes for sure, AT this stage, I`m not even bothered to go & hunt them. (People with higher skills/ better efficience weapons are complaining about the loot) That means i got nearly 0.0001% Chances to do any better.

Aswell my Suggestion for this and for other things like Rangers →
Make a NPC / Terminal Whatever → Go grab the Missions, (same for Rangers) → Get the 23.59 Time to complete, if you fail in this time → Thats it when its 24.00 Hours delete/reset the mission (Mission reset by itself).

Or use the same Timing for Mission just like on ARIS. Where you atleast know how much cooldown you have before you start new Mission (ranger whatever).
