Computer reboots when im playing randomly

Sometimes when im playing PE my computer decides to just reboot randomly, i dont know why this happens but it really gets to me!!! anyone have any idea?

does it happen ONLY when your playing pe. or does it happen when you get into and play other games for an extended period of time? or perhaps if your doing nothing at all or just surfing the web?

I had a similer problem with one of my computers some time ago.. except it would totally shut down for no reason at all. after monitering the system info in bios for a while i realised it was my power supply that was causing my problem.

In either case more info will be needed before anyone else can answer your questoion..
does it give a windows crash before rebooting (there is a way to make it so win-xp doesnt reboot after a crash)
Please elaborate on any info you possably can maybe someone here might know whtats up.

I have no Idea what your systems configuration is but constant rebooting could mean that you are either running out of resources (RAM) or that PE is causing your CPU/GFX card to overheat.

Another problem could be that your system is drawing to much power and that your Power supply isnt up to snuff.

PE is a real resource hog and will tax some fairly good PCs.

Try blowing out your case and Fans and see what happens.

Also, if you have alot of periphrials plugged in, you can be drawing to much juice too.

this could be simptoms of a virus also ( its not if its just in pe it restarts )

Personally I think it sounds like an overheating issue.

Have you OC’d anything f.ex GFX card, CPU, RAM blah de blah…?

PSU may be on the way out too…

Try taking the side/lid of your PC and play PE while checking the temp in there every so often.

Another thing to do is download some benchmarking software and give your hardware a good thrashing.. see if it fails on any particular action.

and yea… sys specs will help us all out here.

fair point ulti..

try this for monitoring temps

took the panel off and cleaned the fans off. It was an overheating issue. I checked the temps in the bios and with an extra fan and the panel off it dropped 20 degrees. Thanks for all the advice!
