Computer crash's...

Hello,

I am posting here because when i play Project Entropia my computer seems to not like it…its crash’s

I have taken advice from my society ingame and that helped (well for a week or so) and now its back been a pain in the backside.

I’ve got adsl so the internet is not the problem…my computer is a XP profesionnel but its around 5~7 years old,i think it might be the computer needing replacing

When i go to PE login it tell’s me that DirectX and Driver arent up to scratch so i went to www.microsoft.com and downloaded newest updates…

Doesn’t seem to help much,if anyone has the same problems and found a way to solve them, plz post here,or anyone got advice or ideas for me

well thx alot

eonette

Could you give me the stats for your computer, like, Video Card, RAM, Processor, Manufacturer, among other things.

If you needs help finding that, PM me.

5-7 years old?

Uhhh..yeah, Time to get a new PC.

You don’t need to get something super, ultra huge.

Just make sure it has an AGP or PCI-E slot, at least 512 MB Ram and runs at at least 2-2.5 Gig. PCs with built in Video cards hate PE..or Vice Versa.

Whatever you do..DON"T GET A DELL!!! OR AN HP!!!..

Since you are running an XP machine, do you have the setting disabled that says “restart on error”? Do you get a blue screen on the crash? If so what does the error code say at the bottom of the screen? This should give a good indication as to what your problem might be. Also if your machine is 5-7 years old, have you done a motherboard driver update at all? I had some problems that were caused by using outdated motherboard drivers. If you are using an Athlon processor the drivers can be found here
If you have a dell, compaq, hp…look up support on their sites.

Not saying this will fix your problem but it might help.

I’m not going to answer that question… I’m sure some1 here will be more than happy to answer it for you who has some expertise (which I do not posess)…

But for my own :twocents: - get a pc with good rep if you aren’t planning on assembling your own. We were suckered into some great bargain deal we found online about 1.5 yrs ago… we thought it was too good to be true, and basically it was. The company that made our pc (which we specified to be built for gaming off their website with the stats we wanted) went bankrupt and left us with multiple pc issues and nowhere to go just a month after we purchased it  So from now on, if some1 isn’t building my pc, I highly recommend a good, reputable pc company.

My brother was thinking about building his own computer for gaming lol

I personnly am not intereseted in getting one built for me (i might change advice if his works out…)

Well what are good computer company’s?

NOT DELL!!! AND NOT HP!!!

Ok..heres is the skinny with both of these PC manufactures.

1.The really cheap models (the ones most peeps will buy cuz its sooo cheap) have no expandability. They have built in GFX cards on the Mobos and no AGP slot. You’d have to get a PCI card, and they suck and take up a PCI slot

  1. Tech support is almost as dumb as a burnt post. They couldn’t Tech their way outta bathroom, let alone help you fix any serious issues.

  2. The Components they use are very cheap and will often fail when you least expect it. I guess thats why these PCs are so Cheap!

Your computer seems up to snuff tho. Sounds like a software issue. If it started after you installed Sims I’d uninstall it and do a roll back to a time before you installed it.

Btw…HP just announced today that they are laying of 14.5K of its employees.

Most of them out of Tech Support?

Right click on the My Computer icon, then click properties. In the computer properties screen click the Advanced tab. This should pull up a menu with three sections, click “Settings” under Startup and Recovery. Deselect the “Automatic Restart” option, this should stop your machine from powering down on error and will give you a blue screen in the event of an error. Along with a bunch of tech crap that you probably won’t understand is an error code at the bottom of the screen, this will tell you what made your pc crash. Google it and you should find the answer to your problem in no time.
