cant download to D drive where it is supposed to go

Our computer wont hold the entire entropia update on C drive but it will on D drive…ATM it is downloading to C…it will run outta room soon and wont DL the whole update…therefore not working…How do we get this to download to D instead of C?

move other stuff…

Figure out what you can get off of C: and move it to D:… If you have a my documents folder on C, that’s probably the first place to start.

Also, you can try compressing to save space, but be careful to not compress folders that programs are inside of unless you want your programs to move at a slug’s speed. You compress folders by right clicking → properties-> advanced->check box to compress contents to save disk space.

Now is the right time to move as much as possible to D because I’m fairly certain that when planets go live we are going to see the client get even bigger than it already is.

checking C right now and its hard to find what is taking up so much space on C…its very weird cuz the amount it says and what is actually on the c drive doesnt match up

the download get dumped onto your desktop, so change your user settings to use a different drive for where this is.

i hate it when companies do this, it so simple to ask the user where they want the data. dont assume C: or other defaults are available.

windows uses a part of your C for its virtual memory, up to a point, the more real memory you have the more space is used for virtual memory, by default virtual memory can resize itself and take up more or less space depending on how you use your pc.

if you have plenty of real memory (RAM) and depending on the operating system you use, you might be able to temporarily gain enough space by resizing and/or fixing the size of your virtual memory manually.

this is not difficult to do and there are plenty of websites to be found via google that will explain this and advise safe settings depending on which windows version you use and the amount of RAM you have.

on edit: you could probably even move your virtual memory to another drive temporarily, although you might have to accept a small performance hit (depending on your pc’s spec’s)

You can also download from here and choose where you want to save it to.

Gave up. Our puter has 2 partitions C has just 29.2 GB to start with, when i started this update i had only 4.9 GB of free discspace, after dowloading maybe 50 % it was down to 875 MB. Then i decided to abort this fucken shit. Next step i did was to delet ALL files in temp. internet files, where i took for granted this fucken update would go. Result is now C drive is down to 2.83 GB
free space ?:S The most annoying part is On E drive where i have 268 GB free discspace, and where ALL Entropia folders was b4 this dam crap i cant use ? I dont get the choice to put this damn update where i want by own choice. And as im no puterwizard and i dont have the foggiest what i DARE to move or delet on C drive. I will just not get bothered by this fucken crap EU throws up on us. SO guess its gonna be a LOOOOONG weekend at my sons to chip out and sell out everything. Cause NOW i REALLY had it with EU and FPC :frowning: I REFUSE tof fucken reformat my whole puter cause FPC once again throw shit upon us and acts as fucken amateurs. Im so fucken fed up with all their shit now so if you all excuse me im going to throw up.

Move your pagefile to your D: drive

If you are running Windows XP

If you are running Windows Vista

If you still need more space, or you just want to tidy up your drive a bit more, you might want also look at ccleaner which will delete temp files, old log files and some other bits and pieces, and is free!

Good luck,

Peatie.

Don’t give up!

Right click on the link Nebu posted and save it to somewhere on your E: drive. If you run out of temp space when you try and apply it, try using ccleaner I mentioned in my last post, to reclaim some space on your C: drive…

good call… or just get rid of it altogether for better performance, get no pagefiles hits, if you run out of RAM stuff stops loading rather than load to painfully slower pagefile. best done if you have 2GB+ RAM.
