Buying a Space Station Apartment

Noticed that we will have 1000 new apartments on the space station.

Depending upon players intentions this will have a significant impact on the housing market for the current stock and the price of the new space station.

Akoz pointed out that there should be an option:

I will keep my existing apartment and will NOT buy one on the space station

This isn’t in…(can’t edit the poll now to put it in). So if you are going for this option please post to the list!

cant afford one right now but will prolly buy one at amethera, and probably also one @ space station

I’ll see what sort of appartments will be there. The ones on Amethera seem pointless to me (personally), as 99% of my time ingame I’m doing stuff (hunting, mining, trading, whatever). If Space Resort appartments can offer more other than just an extended storage facility (cable TV, broadband (WiFi preferred) and a fridge :laugh: ), I’ll go for it.

Same here…why should I get an apartment when it has nothing of extrem interest for me…oh, and one on the space station…yeah…take the ship there whenever I feel like it…nope…not for me guys.

The reason why I posted the poll is just personal curiosity and mixed feelings about the release of so much new housing stock on to the market:

My subjective personal view is:

  1. The current apartments are currently glorified storage boxes which need development to make them useful (see the thread on this);
  2. The cost of decorating/ furnishing an apartment is way, way to expensive for most people - it is an expensive luxury most people can’t indulge in (see point one);
  3. Point one and two influence the fact that currently the supply of apartments exceeds demand. The evidence for the oversupply is that pages are left on the auction and private sales seem to be below auction price;
  4. MA seems to indicate that if you want to spend any serious amount of time in the space station you will NEED an apartment (e.g you are involved in mining). The alternative is that you pay for a flight ticket which going of current prices could be approximately 10 ped per trip. I believe that the market price of these apartments could be very, very high (limited number of apartments being chased by a large number of players).
  5. Players may decide to sell their existing apartments because they either want to play in space permanently or because they need to release some capita to pay for a space station apartment. This could be particularly true of richer players (in game) with multiple apartments or houses.

The impact of this on the current price of housing (apartments and houses) could be dramatic, or it could be minimal depending on the approach taken by players. This is why I put up a poll…to provide some evidence about players intentions.

My personal feeling (without any evidence) is that the price of the existing housing stock will very dip significantly. It may bounce back if sufficient number of players are attracted to the game and stay in the game.

I do, however, think that the person who buys the space station will find it relatively easy to sell apartments. They should get a good return on investment.

well you wont have any storage in space without an appt so its gonna be a must have for me

Got one apt and certainly won’t bother with another.

Can’t say I’m satisfied with the one I got but it’s pointless trying to sell it so i’ll just keep it.

The “thing” that makes me itch is the lack of central storage. And if i need an apartament to act as it…im not sure...would be the most expensive storage terminal ever...and...take into account that every trip from amethera would mean to stack millions ob bombs/probes/ammo and stuff...bah...not sure if i want to buy one...but who knows...depends on what it would look like...size..and other matters (its a “fun” asteroid no?) :))

I have one on Amethera and its a big one and its already full of stuff…
The storage container is complaining about me having too much in there aswell. =)

Maybe i should clean my storage!?.. :slight_smile:

Depending on price and if there is no storage on space station i will have to buy one.. Ive been on crystal palace too many times and overloaded to not buy one on space station.

I am sure everyone is over eager to spend loads of PEDs on buying some apt just for storage but maybe we can learn from the scenario below:

You brother comes home for xmas vacation and sees you playing PE. He creates an avatar and plays with you. You both travel to space station to hunt bio1 and then he logs of and goes back to university. You keep his account active by logging in every now and then so he can play when he comes home next time.

Costs 10 ped to come back to Calypso… avatar just standing at auctioneer… soc m8 hunting in space and needs to store some hides/wool…

Then next xmas your sister sees you playing PE. She wants to have a go and creates an avatar. She wants to be a miner and starts from the new Asteroid resort. You go there and help her mine. A few days later she goes back to university. You login every now and then to keep the account active.

Costs xXx ped to fly back to Calypso… avatar jsut standing at auctioneer… soc m8 mining/hunting and needs to store some items…

Now, I am sure some of the EULA Nerds have this tingle in their tummy and are itching to post. (let me help you visualise → :stuck_out_tongue: ) Aint nothing wrong with the above scenario.

Well… Students are lazy and have vast amounts of free bandwith, so it would be my guess that they would want to keep the accounts for themselves.

Hmmmm…where’s the option of "I GAVE my large one on TI away because it was usless as tits on a boar and therefore have no intention of ever buying another one ANYWHERE " ?

But feel free to omit this one…as its probably only a matter of time before they decide to do something to make apts on calypso usefull..or not.

Do i buy spaceappartment? Maybe/ maybe not…who knows.
Anyway somebody buying, if not me or you, then somebody else do this.
IMO it takes max 1,5 years to sell them all.

Hmm… think I’ll buy one ONLY if it has other use then a storange box…
I mean why should I pay xx peds per month just to store some items and another xxx peds to buy it… crazy imo
But a soc apartment it’s nice :smiley: , but imo a personl is a waste unless you reallllyyy want one :laugh:

i will surely buy one on space station at the very first minute them will become available (of course, in some reasonable price, where “reasonable” rests to be defined).
