Bring Pills Back

The player base isn’t big enough to supply the hunters with the necessary buffs needed to hunt, removing the pills was not a healthy choice for the game only to boost the fishing aspect, at the moment there really is no incentive to open loot boxes unless it’s a item worth going for, the pills are replaced with uni ammo.

The current fish supply is too low to sustain in the long term and not to mention some of the buffs make no sense compared to pills.

People selling the fish should also take into consideration the real value of the item compared to pills, and not take advantage of the hunters.

Have to add this part, it should either be implemented for every pill out there or not at all, not partly. We have the Frontier Pill and the Easter Egg. The Frontier Pill and the Easter Egg give several buffs that the fish were introduced for to provide instead.

The conclusion that i came to why those are kept in the game is because those are obtained through the webshop.

Personally, I like the new system. One thing I can say though is summer boxes need something like a candy cane to incentivize it further. I think there’s room for both if done properly.

They should not bring them back. People have been asking for MU and they created some with this system. It’s a vital system for numerous professions so there is always going to be demand. If you think supply is not enough or its too expensive and there’s too much money to be made, then you can make that money from the food yourself.

But I agree that they should add something to the strongboxes especially the classified ones, they literally got nothing now

They didn’t create markup, they stole it from hunters and gave away to new players.

OP - Yeah it’s not great but our mayhem tokens are worth more now. I started using less buffs. I don’t think the problem is not enough lee… Not enough bo… too small economy but MA completely screwing up the blueprint droprates. They had plenty of time to adjust but don’t care.

Easy fix is open the flood gates

Throwing my two cents to the issue on the table, I think that fishing and cooking are brilliant additions to our universe, as they put another aspect of the economy - the buffs - into the hand of players.

BUT (a rather fat BUT), with that being said, I also cannot disagree with the principals of the original post. The problem is the sudden disappearance of pills, and the lack of balance in their replacement by buffed food. The food container shortage due to lack of BP drops, the super-rare fish varieties needed to produce recently buffed food, the lack of reasonably priced core resources (such as copper or transgen fruits) … these are all issues that amplified, and continue to cause severe, problems in the transition to this new exciting part of the economy. Even worse still, what about Ark, Cyrene, Toulan? No fishing, no cooking, no pills from strongboxes resulting in a palpable shortage of buffs. Who wants to transport PvP-lootable buffed food there to supply the players? Yes, one can buy said food on the AH, and pay for their transfer … but the expenses compound and more and more players will stay away. Just imagine, 1h autoloot with a TT pill was 50 PEC, now - if one is lucky - one can purchase the Sucker Filet for at least 10x that price plus a 2 PED min fee for a transfer if you are on one of the not-fising-(yet?) planets. This is not sustainable!

The bottom line, the phasing out of pills should have been done gradually to avoid this shock to the players, the turmoil in the economy, and to give everybody a bit of buffer-time to adapt. Certainly it is too late now, but MA can still make some changes to ease it for the players:

(1) Make buffed food non-lootable in PvP! This will stimulate the transfer of said food between planets, and help those on not-fising-(yet?) planets to get their daily buffs!

(2) Balance BP drop rates, such as for food containers, to eliminate bottlenecks in the cooking of buffed food. Yes, the principals of the system work (AH and several shops offer a constant supply of buffed food), but the prices (when compared to the now gone basic pills from Strongboxes) are horrendous due to the lack of viable competition.

(3) MAKE FISH TRADEABLE!

Personally, I don’t understand the reason why raw fish is not tradeable on the AH. It is like any other core resource in the game obtained by hunting or mining. I don’t think there is a lack of raw fish (as mentioned in the original post). Myself, I sit on 20k raw fish in my storage that I can’t move or offer (unless I spam the Trade chat around PA like a second-hand car salesman). I am sure that many others share the same problem. Vice versa, currently, to be a supply-generating professional cook, one either needs to know professional fishers for P2P trades, or be a professional fisher oneself, to get that juicy supply of fish for the cook. This is not a sustainable model, and does not make any sense in the general context of the economy: Normal professional crafters do not need to be miners and hunters to get their resources, as all of these are, in principle, traded on the AH.

Anyway, this is my rant on the issue. It is too late to go back, as the damage is done. But adjustments/changes to ease the transition can - and should - be done. I’d be glad to hear your opinions on the suggestions above … and perhaps MA is listening as well, and takes notes of what people have to say.

Cheers for the original post to bring up an issue that concerns many of us!

I was saying from the beginning that fishing and cooking in the form it was introduced will be a failure longterm, and it will.

Its starting to show, and I believe that in 6 months it will be even more visible.

100 different fish, FFS :upside_down_face:

It could have been good, but MA always “knows better” than to work with players who would be able to help and provide important feedback to see the whole picture.

Im sure they dont play as much as the top players here. How can they know more about the economy?

The thing im mad about is that they really tried with these new systems but they dont know their own game and their playerbase so have no idea what will and wont work.

Hit & Miss, so many times. Preventable.

When they removed auto loot pills from the trade terminal and replaced it with a gravi chip i found that to be a direct slap in the face to all the hunters, now i am forced to buy useless starter packs sell all the stuff but the frontier pill.

I didn’t do much research into fishing but i thought the fish were auctionable which it should be to boost the economy and produce more fisherman and in the end provide more resources/competion for the chefs out there.

If you want to transport buffs they aren’t different from pills. Warp, use tokens, or risk your stuff. When it comes to selling your fish have you tried obtaining a shop, shopkeeper, or booth? These could be great options depending on your budget. As for pricing and shocks to market or the economy, this is only temporary until things are fine tuned or adjusted. You have to adapt and remain flexible. Opportunities are there but profit favors the bold. Weigh your risk and rewards and good luck!

WrongKidDied21 I am totally with you here. The whole system will adjust, eventually, with the heavy transition period we are in right now being necessary. In a way, this transition period opens opportunities and shakes up the market so that even no/low-depo players have a chance to get a deserved buff for their wallets (fruit walking, sweating, baitfishing comes to mind).

With that being said, in regards to the solutions for transporting the buffed food, sure, it is like for everything else in game: Between-planets item transfer is a choice between risk (lootable PvP) and cost (TP tokens, warp, transport services). There is, however, also a glaring difference (apart from the fact that many pills were not lootable in PvP): Most things (like animal oils, hides, core mining resources etc etc) for crafting purposes one can find on all planets, and opening Strongboxes left you with plenty of buff pills. Fishing/Cooking is not like that, for the time being. Three of the planet partners are so far left out. MA knew about that, knew that all of these PPs have a dedicated player-base that - like everywhere else - has a demand for buffs. With pills now basically gone, as long as fishing/cooking is not available universe-wide, there should have been a temporary adjustment to satisfy all PPs and their dedicated players.

Now for the raw fish trade, yes, Shop, Shopkeeper, Booth are all excellent propositions (and either of these is on my list), but it is also a question of the PED card. Personally, since the update came out, I invested in “adjustments” to the new world we are finding ourselves in (a flat on Caly, a 120, an autoloot Bunny) because I had some cash lying around. Many are not that lucky or willing to part with hard-earned PEDs. The easier solution would be for MA to treat raw fish like every other resource in the universe. My point was not to complain about the lack of workarounds (there always are workarounds), but to be curious about the reason why raw fish, as core resource, is treated differently. I can only come up with one reasonable explanation: Buffed food did not require raw fish, but only fish oil, after the first release. All ingredients were tradeable. Then, a week later or so, a new update/patch changed recipes to require raw fish as well. I think that MA did not anticipate this quick change/balancing act/adjustment in their original model and, in an honest mistake or act of negligence, forgot to account for the now sudden change in the importance of raw fish. Raw fish now is a core resource rather than sole Refiner food to be processed to oil which then is used. I am just asking to remedy this situation, and treat raw fish just like everything else one can hunt or mine.

But with that being said, thanks for your kind reply. Your suggestions are, for the time being at least, the ones we - the players - must and will use to cope in this transition period. So, cheers for that

Totally agree, Shaman_4400_Salvatio! It is somewhat a slap in the face of hunters, especially on Ark, Cyrene and Toulan. I left Toulan, for the time being, because of that. And yes, you just confirmed my point: Logically, rationally, and given how the economy is structured, raw fish should be tradeable on the auction, and should have a MU value associated with it. In my reply to WrongKidDied21, who lists some reasonable workarounds, I speculate about the reason why that is … but regardless of that, it does not make sense in the general context of the economy model to treat raw fish differently than any other resource. And I totally agree with you, once tradeable on the AH, everyone wins: MA gets a financial boost with their auction fees, fishers can finally offer their catches to a wider demanding audience, freelance cooks have a reasonable shot on supplying the market with needed buffs, and hunters will be happy to continue their tedious and much needed work all hyped up on drugs … everybody wins. Anyway, cheers for your comment!

I hate fishing and cooking. It is super lame.

I therefore no longer consume pills. Therefore my cycle rate is lower, returns are lower, I’ll end up playing less and then MA will go out of business.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but you are just one player. They aren’t trying to just cater to you or I but many that make up the whole. You might leave but another will take your place. That’s the harsh truth.

Every player is replaceable, but if they keep overcomplicating systems, adding pointless steps, and gating materials, it’s going to completely fragment the economy, more than it already is.

I’d say liz truss is a better leader than anyone at MA right now
