Arkadian Oil Rig

My current financial status is broke - so until I can start depositing again I am just fluffing about when I get to come online. One thing that is interesting me is picking up Oil at the Arkadia Drilling Rig.
I have not got the time and patience to go there all the time. I just appear check out the situation & leave. What I have found out.
Oratans, if there are a lot of them around the rig - it seems to mean that nobody has been there lately & there is probably a lot of barrels. (that happened to me once) when players appear, the Oratans tend to move away.
Recently a new player arrived & wanted to know how to go about getting Oil. So, every now and then an Oil barrel will spawn with an explosion & a cloud of dust - see if you can get to it first before the regulars. Sometimes I find barrels that have either appeared without an explosion or I have not seen it.
It seems that there are players who camp there, I come online now & then and they are usually there. Avatars are just standing - but when I arrive & move around, they come to life & race around looking for oil - its like a bunch of hamsters on a wheel. I have been told that they are Russians, I don’t know how they can stand the boredom.
Oil does not spawn continually, there are time(s) when the Rig is silent - I don’t know the details at this time.
PvP, there is a place for them at the rig - it takes some skill to be a PvP arsehole. Bur PvP bushwackers are not skillful, they are just prepared to pay for the ammo (I wish I was that rich).
Anyway there should be more, makes picking Oil a bit more interesting

There is quite a mix of people at the Rig, sometimes people just needing couple ped oil for their quad.

Sometimes bit of PvP, but often friendly.

Sometimes someone after a kill spree hof lol.

Not enough ped to buy me a lambo, but when broke helps counter losses on puny mobs

That is true. I did not mean to give the impression that everyone else is a Russian bot, or a PvPer. Mostly people there are friendly. And I really don’t have a beef with PvP people - even though they can be arseholes. They are all part of the "circle of life " there & do make the place more interesting.
However, it remains a fact that everybody there is in competition with you for a limited resource.
And I admit that if I get irritated enough, I somehow find a big mob of Oratans chasing me and somehow getting in the way of others. Surely that would not make me an arsehole? :frowning:

Not at all, is all part of daily life xD.

That makes you eligible for a ban if someone reports you so yes it does.

You have chosen an accurate name. But what would I be reported for?

Lol theres an Oil Rig on arkadia?

Mob training. You can’t train people because you are low level and pissed.

Yes there is and while it is PvP actually it is a more civilized place than the Calypso one. It can get boring as there is the Oil Rig & an area around it where oil is spawned. The whole place is sprinkled with Oratans, so if you run around & around it looking for barrels, you will eventually attract them. What you do then is

  1. Shoot them 2. hop in an air vehicle & move away 3. Wear armor & just ignore them.
With 3 you will just attract a mob of them chasing you around a limited area - you eventually die & respawn at the Scrapyard, or just log off. Eventually the oratans will just wander away. They can irritate other players till they do so I guess

Sadly there are woke players in the game who are prepared to get offended by stuff always prepared to offer gratuitous advice & cancellation threats.
I think I recall one called Whiney Spastic

That last paragraph of yours, you made a thread crying about getting killed in PvP and then bragging about breaking the rules and you call me offended? ?

Go ahead, you do you. I’ll see if I swing by at some point and keep the oil for myself.

Seems that English may be a second language for you if that’s what you think I said. Go ahead & PvP the rig & keep all the oil - just makes you a greedy pig. I don’t mind, will brighten the place up a bit.

So Whiney, go ahead you do you oink, oink I don’t care, but you will piss everybody else off. Unless of course you just want to kill me & make me cry

So let me get this straight:

Someone following the rules is an asshole. Someone abusing them is the good guy? I tried to let you know that your magic defense was against the rules and if someone reports you, you might face consequences for it.

You cannot argue your point and already in your first reply resorted to name calling because you don’t understand the rules of the game. The reason for this is that you either knowingly or unknowingly try to defend your stand point despite being in the wrong.

I would most certainly not criticize other people’s English if I myself didn’t know how to structure a paragraph or sentence or use punctuation properly.

Work a bit harder on getting things straight. And it was not your grammar but your comprehension that I was referring to.

Some sexual tension flying in this thread. ?

Orthos drops about 4-5x as much as the ark rig, and ashi drops about 20x as much as the ark rig, so there are more options for rig on caly, more activity for sure but also more oil.

In my experience with the ark rig, It seems to be the one that people think they should never be shot at, and react accordingly with insults. Although caly definitely has some characters

Thinking back, a big part of this thread is to give advice to players who have just recently started looking for oil at the rig some pointers - in the form of my observations, not a guide because I really don’t know enough about the mechanics.
I know when I started, I had no idea & would have appreciated some help at the time.
I think I covered most of what I know - but I did not mention. If you have not already done so, go to setting & set Draw Distance to Maximum. Set sounds (other than music) to high. This will prevent you missing when oil spawns with its explosion & cloud of dust.

Re PvPers , less here than other PvP zones and not a problem - just do not let them get under your skin. In effect they just add a bit of excitement to what is otherwise a boring interlude. Just move in an irregular way, make them spend as many peds as you can to kill you. Other players can also get upset if you snatched what they consider is THEIR barrel. Remember the old adage “You snooze, you lose” Just don’t let anyone get under your skin
