A Newb Beginning (The Spawn Challenge)

A wise man once told me “You should craft amps with your life savings and you’re guaranteed to make bank”. The same man said “As long as your DPS is higher than regen you can armor up and do dasps” as well as “Stop making shit up. I never said those things and I’ve never been your mentor”.

I have lived by these lessons for years and formed a strong bond and kept soaking up all the good advice and wisdom he shares.

The man? Storm. Spawn. Bootcamp.

As of recently I recieved the great advice of “Sell everything. Use only what you loot” and as such, I present to you, the Spawn Challenge.

Rules are simple: I can only buy what MA offers and only use what I loot or craft. I can sell to other players but not buy. Apparently, it isn’t allowed to pay people to hunt with you and select “looter takes all”. Deposits and purchases in the webshop are okay.

So naturally, being the compulsive mentally ill alcoholic I am, I left Calypso yesterday for Cyrene. Goal is to get another Zorras but I know it is gonna be tough. Using TT gear and jumping from over 100dps to 5.2 was a bit of a shock. But I will prevail.

Current mission is to get some DPS. I have my eyes on the howler but I must find something that hits slightly harder than the TT weapon first. Farming L weapons is priority.

I started this yesterday and took a bunch of screenshots. I intend to share it as some sort of log here along with pictures and a story. While I don’t have access to those now, I still wanted to share the idea as I will need a lot of help and input to not abandon this right away. It also ups the probability of me pulling through significantly.

Interesting. It’s essentially an “IronMan” esque self imposed challenge. I shall follow your journey with great interest!

Most of my life is indeed a self imposed challenge, so why not mirror it in game?

Kudos, good luck, perseverance and welcome to Cyrene! My self-imposed challenge is to only continue hunting from the proceeds of loot sales and it has brought everything down to a trickle. The game would die if everyone did that, so not recommended. Or, depends on what’s important to you.

The weapons you gonna loot with TT weapons are all gonna be very weak as well. It might be impossible to progress with these rules. You can craft the enkid howler, but the stuff you’re gonna need for it you can’t get with TT guns. There are other crafted weapons on Cyrene tho and some BPs are sold at the technician, should be a bit more firepower iirc, but still not much.

The arms merchant has a mission which will bring the lpx-p3, which will bump the dps from 5.2 (tt-weapon) to 7,9 (lpx-p3)
the noob missions will give him 7 imperium plates, which will come in handy later
If he then hunts Dire weed old (level 6) at the ice plateau, it can drop lpx-p6, imperium pilot scorpion rank 11, enkidd fang s-6 (19 to 25 dps)
hunting some paneleon youngs will give him his first armor set (a.r.c. guardian armor) which is a nice starter armor, slap the armpor plates on that.
next up would be to collect 150 cyrene mission tokens to get a weapon from the cyrene mission token trader. the 2-hts weapons do 33 dps.
collecting 300 arc badges will give access to the hub trader, where he can get inaugurates armor
in the meantime doing the h.e.a.r.t fap mission for the nice refurbished fap.. (upgradeable as he progresses)
if he can get some tails from the paneleon he can upgrade the imperium plates to imperium officer plates, or visit next island to hunt mutated boars for a full set of incision plates.
it might be hard, but its not impossible and the planet partner planets have plenty of upgrade/loot possibilities.

I wish you a lot of good item loots!

Private ‘Snow’ Landon has a weekly or biweekly repeatable quest to hunt creatures and turn in residue/oils in exchange for weapons. Will probably help you out on this …experience

Bro. I have done nonas with soc mates. I can do everything and loot everything as long as I set my mind to it

cyrene loot is somewhat generous compared to caly so good luck !

I will keep on with my normal $20 a day. This will give me some room for stupid things. I haven’t checked the blueprints just yet but if there is anything close to old school caly I should be able to have some fun after a mining run or two

So this project is still going on!

I haven´t been doing well mentally since I started it so escaped in other ways than games. Currently on cyrene and managed to finish a few missions AND bought the gold pack so I now have a car and enough DPS for the tide claws (Except I accidentally chose the wrong L weapon as a reward)!

Still playing, still taking screenshots. Will do a bit of travelling IRL tomorrow and bring my PC so hopefully I can get my mind back into the idea of telling a story.

I have decided for ONE rule-change though. With time, I will need firepower from others playing with low level gear for team hunts. Since I save money grinding at a lower level I decided that I will spread a few PED around me to increase the game experience for new players on Cyrene (The beginning is slooooow). I will be doing this by buying sweat. I haven´t figured out how much and at what rate but I think around 2PED per k or so and limit it to smaller amounts (50 players with 2 ped spreads more joy than 5 players with 10 ped). However, since I don´t want those PED end up in the pockets of wrong people I have to filter it somehow so I am thinking that to qualify, you need to:

Be a friend or diciple of:

 • Any member of the Ministry
 • Anyone of my long list of friends in game of which I believe 95%+ are trustworthy
 • Someone on PCF who I necesarilly havent interacted with and therefore dont know

Be scanned.

I will happily take any advice on how to go on with this since I feel like I need to work on my karma after my recent poor interactions. I hope Spawn agrees that buying sweat is okay.

So it continues, haven’t had much time in game but the time I had I have spent on:

 • Killing thousands of Paneleons and even managed to have two pseudo-swirls! The idea behind this was to get my hands on a blueprint for a finder that is better than the TT one. Only problem is I won’t be able to find the materials for it…

 • Crashing my car ALOT! The gold pack was totally worth it but I need to learn how to drive.

 • Collecting the imperium armor plates. Well, four of them at least. Three of the missions would require the stuff I left behind on Caly.

What I am up to:

 • Grinding for jagged tooth from tree dragons and going to give mining a go since I need materials for one of the TT blueprints which would almost double my DPS. That way I could grind Tide Claws for the Howler mission.

 • Punching Arrets hoping to loot 200 bones to start the Refurbished FAP mission (so far zero bones in 100 kills so guess it will be a bit of a grind).

 • Looking to gather some ARC badges hoping the vendor is anything like the daily token on Caly but missions seem bugged.

What I learned:

 • The game is a grind. I am doing basically the same thing as always but just cycle 5% of what I used to. Hopefully I will get back to a somewhat higher level soon since the idea was not to be cheap but to get a sense of progress.
 • The packs in the webshop are worth it. If you are a new player, don’t cheap out. We all spent hundreds on stupid mobile games and the equipment makes it easier and will last a while unless you plan to buy some big weapon in game.
 • The terrain in this game is unforgiving and I miss my TP chip.
 • There are waaaaaaaaaay to little L items in low level loot. Zero at the moment since I came here.

What I would need help with:

 • I will need the remaining plates sooner rather than later so if people are up for a team hunt it would be something. Not sure if it counts for the missions though.
 • Any advice on missions that gives out decent weapons or a flying vehicle.
 • Locations for Kaisenit
 • Any advice on mobs that drop TP and restoration chips…
 • Any advice on mobs that drops bones because these Arrets don’t seem to.

Current Gear:
Adj. Harrier (the speed buff is amazing) plus 4 imperium plates.
Z12 Barbella with amp and scope, hoping the decay of the scope counts to loot and increases TT of any looted weapon…
IO Pulse
TT/Equipment pack car and mining gear

i can confirm arrets drop bones semi-frequently, was able to farm 200 out of them.

very cool idea, i am just beginning now on cyrene so i am at a similar spot (although with less budget and much, much less skills), i shall follow with great interest

Leaving Calypso for my new adventure:

Landing on a new planet all naked and by myself:

Everyone must start with nothing but luckily Spawn who this challenge is named after decided to join in and help me murder some local fauna:

After which I invested in some armor and dared to explore the wasteland myself:

Running got boring quite quick so decided to get myself a car which was fun at first but my adventure on wheels so far pretty much sums up how the challenge is going:

And the remainder of fun incidents will require me to censor some stuff so that comes later…

So I am not a man with a plan but a man with many plans. I start executing them just to get bored along the way but I have actually managed to make some progress. I found my way out of the 7 DPS which will be crafting me some Dire S1. This will however force me to get some materials and a bunch of residue. Nemas problemas I figured but the TT finder is shit to be frank and it takes forever. Nevermind the amount of monkeys, sorry dragons, I have slayed in order to get those damn Jagged Teeth.

So currently the plan is to somehow craft me a couple of those bad boys so I can keep going on with the Tide Claw mission for the Enkidd Howler. At that point things will start to look a lot brighter. Once I get my DPS up I will also be able to start collecting ingredients for the X2 finder and hopefully finish my set of imperium plates of which I lack three. I will jump between mobs in order to try to collect some bones for the FAP too. I will be collecting materials for the Dragonfly mission at the same time because I am kinda bored of driving, too many scary mobs.

Current gear:

 • Adjusted Harrier (run speed 8%) with 4x imperium Plates
 • Z12 Barbella with ZX Zinkadus because apparently my Ozpyn PLX 3 died yesterday and the quest giver says it hasnt gone enough time to get a new one
 • IO Pulse
 • TT Mining gear
 • LV Lupus 4x4

Noteable BPs:

 • Ozpyn Cold Protector
 • Imperium Detectonator

Goals at the moment:

 • Full set of imperium plates
 • A couple Dire S1
 • Refurbished FAP
 • Imperium detectonator X2 or Adventurers Finder
 • Dragonfly

But as always, things mate change with the press of a button and some swirling balls in the sky. Heres hoping I will be able to loot something worth using.

i will limit to ADVICE not to SPOIL too much of Cyrene…

 1. ROOKIE Tp has an instance with Arrets, they drop BONES, jagged, small claws, extractors.
 2. [Enkidd Dire S.1 (L)] draftable (part of a daily mission, 16 MA DPS
 3. if not limited to Cyrene [Mawlood Graduate (L)] comes off Sunjoq at jelly TP in toulan 11 MA Dps
 4. crafting CB107 gives you a longer range item with dire1 like dps

a technician BP is also F101, that is easy finder to craft
if you self craft GIZMO and to WEapon tech gizmo you can manufacture all armatrixes to level 105… is it allowed by your rules set?

on NI you can get a free FALCATA doing quests (not top of swords but is a sword)
and of course 8 ma dps items are supercommon as loot

So the past few days have been… Intense…

I wasn’t really in the mood for active gameplay so I went to the Paneleon cave since a socmates managed to pull an UL weapon from there a few weeks ago. Murdered over 2000 of them and still no L weapon or MF chip in sight BUT a ton of scrap metal. I can turn in 5 of these every day for 4 Cyrene Mission Tokens and once I have 150 of those, I can do some shopping!

I spent about seven hours mining too. Found enough resources for 5 attempts on the Dire S1. Didn’t manage to gather much residue though but figured that perhaps lootius will smile upon me and give me a nice multiplier. She most certainly did not and I ended up with 4 broken rifles…

As Msturlese mentions above the F101 is a TT BP. I managed to forget that during the day and a friend reminded me later that night. After catching a ride to Caly (I had to fill up auction slots anyway) I am now the proud owner of a F101 which means I will be able to drop bombs at 7x the pace. This means I will be able to gather more resources, craft more and thus loot new BPs so I can use more resources for residue and thus progress quicker.

So my current plan looks something like this:

 1. Figure out if I can get a discount to warp around the universe and buy all the TT BPs.

 2. Drop bombs and fu… Sorry the NHL playoffs are ongoing. Just cycle a ton mining. If I could be patient enough to cycle 1,000PED (which should be fairly easy now) I probably could drop mining (pun intended) for a couple of days.

 3. Hunt a bunch of dragonmonkeys for teeth and bones and that elusive L weapon drop.

 4. Once I can craft full TT Dire S1, CB107, the Ozpyn trader resets or I get a lucky drop it is time to start grinding for Cyrene Mission Tokens and ARC Badges and check what other missions are available. The Howler still looks like a lot of fun to me and killing drill bots might give me targeting chips for even better weapons even though I am not in desperate need of a finder anymore.

 5. I would also like to go on trips to grab items from other planets missions but right now I think I will stay on Cyrene as I already feel overwhelmed trying to figure stuff out.

I spend a lot of time both here and on cyrenedream but for some reason find myself confused. If anyone knows of missions that consists of mobs below level 10 feel free to let me know since these are doable.

Tip for any new players: Player interaction is key. You need to trade and get information. Join a soc and find a good mentor. Join the discords and get familiar with the wikis.

If anyone is starting on Cyrene I’d be happy to mentor and we could join up on these dirty Chernobyl beavers and ponys. While I am playing as a noob at the moment I have actually been around on and off since Treasure Island hit the news.

Until next time…
