A Mentoring Question

Well there is a Skill called Mentoring that Raise whenever you Sucessfull got a Disciple graduating. But is there Any Rating System for Mentors ? For Example a Mentor with a few but Sucessfull Disciples gets a Higher Rating than a Mentor with Tons of Disciples where the most never Graduate.

Or in other Words, does it have a negative Effect when a Disciple fail to Graduate and get kicked by Mentor ?

I think you should lose Mentoring Skill whenever you Kick someone off your Mentor List unless he haven’t Logg in for 3 Months. This would make Mentors Choose the Disciples more Carefully and interessted to make them Graduate.
The Mass Recruitments would become uneffective because you would lose more Mentoring Skill than gain it.

I have never cared mutch about Mentoring but im Curios if theres a Rating System where People can see if a Mentor is good or Bad

I think this is a very fair point to make. When I first started I was bombarded by mentorship offers to the point I took one to stop them offering more. My mentor has since never logged on. So disiples should also have the option for null the mentorship if the mentor hasn’t logged on for a while.

Yep i believe it too..

I am thinking the same way… My mentor was never on when i got mentored.. And i didn’t know i had only 3 days to kick him ( I didn’t even know i could..)…
I got as far as I did by myself, and help from very nice ppl from a society taht i joined later on… And now he will get a reward for not soing anything.. it’s not fair..We do all the work and they get the reward.. It could be nice to have a progress check from the mentor that would intitle him/her to get the reward.. To be sure he/she did her work as a mentor..
Oh well, the game is made that way but it should be writen somewhere to be carefull about getting a mentor..Some just want the reward and don’t care…
Too bad i got one like that.. He just talked to me when i got 77% done..
Oh well, anyways, i loved playing..it’s was all worth while for me cause i managed…
Thanks for that great forum where i get more and more infos everyday :girl:

nice ideas n’ points Fiona, yes too many ppl are just greedy aholes and trying to get free items, i call them leeches… instead of teaching new ppl the world of calypso and make them welcome in here.
i wouldn’t mind option for disciples to kick their mentor on a long term basis than what it is now.

sad to hear Emma what happened to u, but welcome to PE and EF, i hope u enjoy your stay

Regarding what Emma said, and what I’ve heard lots of times, there’s no time limit to kick a mentor, but there is a skill limit, once you’ve got more than 20 in any skill, you’re stuck with that mentor, or if you have no mentor you cannot get one after that point.

Just clearing that up

I would mind. Just to make it clear, i put honest effort into helping the few deciples i have to do well in the game (as well as they have the will and patience to  ), but i still sometimes see the “why does he get a free item for my hard work” attitude from deciples…
some people are just ungrateful gits

If there is an option to kick your mentor, like mine whos never been on and doesn’t deserve the item if he ever returns. You should hit ‘kick mentor’ and then the mentor has say a week, to respond to it, if not they are gone!

I agree… the mentor system the way it is now is broke and allows for far too much abuse.
Thre desperately needs to be a rating system of some sort so desciples can rate prioiducally how the mentor is doing perhaps a little questionaire form that the desciple periodically would do at certain percentage points to completion and how the mentor scores on those quizzies would go to thier overall rating. (having a quizzie would make it so is harder for a desciple to give a bad rep to a mentor cuz they wont give him/her free stuff)
Havie ti tos a desciple after a certain time has passed they can still boot a mentor but its just harder to do instead of ibeing impossable now.
Make it so that after the initial time period they get for the free chance to boot a mentor they get an option again if the mentor doesnt log on in a while, and/or doesnt talk with the desciple for longer than a certain time, and yet further options based on the quizzies depending on how the mentor rates in them

Perhaps have the quizzies done on the PE website instead of through the game but have a pointer in PE on the internal PE screens or on the clientloader when one is due. That way it requires less coding for the game itself to facilitate.
Have it so the kind of mentor item the mentor gets is influanced by his/her score and mentor skills. that the higher the ratings they get the more skills they get too. that way a sucky mentor might always get a fap-5 ME or an es-100 ME or even a solomate busho ME while an awesome mentor who consistantly gets high ratings by their desciple is more likely to get a nice item like a rockjacker ME or ml-35ME or marber tango ME
have an internal requirement by mindark that is based on the IP# and and what ever other info they use to know who is using the same computer or not but have thiis part not published. That way it can prevent some abuse by people signing up dupe accounts to scam the mentor system.
maybe have it so places like cyber-cafes and lan-party locations can apply to mindark for an exemption (possably as part of an agreement to sell prepaid ped cards)

I understand

but i’d like to add that it would be the mentor’s job to tell MA why they should be rewarded..Not that the disciple cn kick whenever or whyever he wants… It should be something that has to be done by both parts.. Mentor and disciple.. Like a real school… I explain myself better irl… I keep missing how i want to say it lol sorry..newcomer to the forum.. Ok what i mean is it should be monitored.. To see if the mentor really helps or not the disciple.. Mine loaned me an axe, and a fap 5 and a pair of grey pants…But i didn’t know what to do with it, or how to skill ..Nothing..
So if it was something that could be monitored by MA it would be fair..
hope i was clear on my toughts… and didn’t offend any real mentor
see you around and thanks for the great welcome, i appreciate it.. and FYI: i graduated :wise:

Congratulations on graduating
And i wasn’t offended by your initial post, i just wanted to point out that changing the mentoring system in a way so it makes it harder on abusers, as well as non-abusers, would be bad. Also, monitoring people would be an intrusion on their privacy, so…
I think a deciple should get a pop-up message ingame after reaching 5% or around there, asking if he/she wish to keep their current mentor. the message should inform that choosing yes will cause you to be “stuck” with your current mentor, and choosing no will give you a timelimit (one day?) to find a new mentor.
this should give the deciple enough time to figure out what he/she needs help with, and then find a serious mentor who can actually help

Edit; and i just realised the thread was going a bit off track
Fiona, a lot of people just create an account to see what PE is about, and many find it not to their taste. A mentor can’t force people to stay, only try his best
