I read the post but I guess I didnt realize how much of a problem it was with people ruining a friendly competition. I was thinking of more room. So forget that idea.
Did anybody suggest a random remote location on Amethera? It pretty wide open and empty there in many places. Seems like if you kept the location secret until right before the event, you could get pretty good security… so long as the participants are not trying to sabotage the event.
The problem with that is that people tell thier in-game mates as soon as they find out the venue and then thier soc mates come along and kill every-one apart form them. Pretty easy to get places if you have a good teleport chip.
The venue will be deathifiers hanger, I found a way to get onto the roof which gives a very view inside, any-one who wants to watch can go up thier with me before the fight starts(they will be put on the guest list if they trade the money, then they will follow me[as soon as we are there the viewing group will have thier names taken of the guest list and the people fighting will be added]). Depending on interest I might charge people to be let in to go up there but it’ll only be a couple ped. As soon as Marco is back ill start a list of who wants to be in it and try to get him to make a news update to link the majority of players here.
I will also be needing a couple of people with fraps to record the fights. I think we can have about 6 people in the arena. If many people are interested then ill start with larger fights then go onto 1v1’s to get the tournament done quicker.

You think everybody is such a poor sport? Maybe, but I don’t think so. I mean as soon as one side starts cheating they basically loose, no?
Hanger sounds best anyway.
IDK but in the middle of no-were this is a chance and there are also mobs. If you want I may organise an outdoor tournament but that’d be after the indoor one.
first i have a medium sized apartment in omegaton city that can be made available for an event.
with a hanger it might be worth while to see if weapons fire is possable across the space where the ship goes (even if you can not go into that space if the ship is not there). with the ship there or if weapons fire is not a[ossable across the space it might prove as a useful obstical to enhance the challenge of the event.
to prevent and police the possability of cheating a judge can be included along with the participants (probrably be room for “ringside” seats available to high level doners as long as they dont interfere (like have it so only participants, judges and a small handful of spectators/media will be allowed in the space)
part of the media’s job can be to fraps the event to post somewhere, and can be a play-by play announcer that transcribes in a team/society chat to someone who can announce at gathering points so people can “listen” to the game in real time
Also Mindark has atleast acknowleged the community’s desire for a more secure events venue so a formal place for events may be avialable in the near future

and you can see in. I’m really stuck for pricing though, i think entry should be a few dolars and veiwing should be fairly cheap. I will be making a thread for people who want to join when marco is back so i can convince him to link us from the news page.
Maybe you can charge a small entrance fee to watch, and a small participant fee. This would help fund a purse, and possibly a security organization (cK) ?

All depends on the interest of people. The more people, the merrier. This tourney shall cost so I can establish it but I’m hopeful I can make future events free. Costs all depend on the interest of people, the more people the easier it is for me to tune the amount to however many people I am comfortable with, using the prices :P. It also means I can offer more in the way of prizes. The only thing I think will be taxing for me is a way of getting the people who think they stand no chance against the ubers of the game to join, I was thinking of having different categories for different levels but its impossible to check peoples levels. You probably wont here much about the tourney till Marco is back so I can see how Mindark will help.
