I was just wondering who actually gives a rip what their rep is on this forum. Or, for that matter, what others may think of them because of the way they post here.
The truth is that what people say here does not reflect accuratly who they are in real life. You have impersonal text being read with inaccurate inflections. You have many people for whom English is not their native language. And you have rolepleying going on.
When related to real life, the rep here does not matter one bit to me. However, my rep here is my rep here, so, in a way it does matter to my EF persona. Hmm, maybe I do give a rip
I enjoy having rep on the forums, as it can be a handy tool to determine someone’s standing here. Unfortunately, however, it seems people often give rep for silly reasons or just because the person in question is their friend. To me, rep seems to be most important when you see someone go into the red. Although having positive rep is a good indicator of being a respectful poster here, your actual level of positive reputation doesn’t mean as much as whether or not you are green or red.
I’m happy with my rep as long as I’m in the green, so I’d say I don’t care too much about my reputation here. Rep can be a blessing or a curse - but overall it seems to be more of a blessing in this community. The only problem I’d like to see fixed is people giving both rep to friends for silly reasons and giving negative rep to people they disagree with simply because they don’t feel the same way.
The EF Rep is a nice Toy to Play a bit with but i dont take it Serious or looking on somoenes Rep bevore making a Pictuere what i posting to this Person.
If you wanna Rip your Rep let us know i think when the whole Forum work together we can Bring your Rep down to Zero again in a few Years :laugh:

What is interesting is that you nor I nor most posters here will ever get close to being Red. The effect of negative rep is so miniscule that it hardly deters one from acting a certain way. What IS even more interesting to me is the amount of ppl that get genuinly offended when a red bar shows up.
Back to my original point, if you take my rep as an example, I am one of the highest repped ppl here. Yet I am arguably (or maybe not) one of the most, shall I say, “contraversial” posters as well. Does my “positive” rep really reflect how I am viewed on this forum, or, is the system flawed?

But are they really MY opinions? Can you be sure? And you or whomever form a visual and rep a certain way based upon this. That is why ppl should not let rep here effect them IRL. It is not related, AT ALL.
I am sure that, like you say, if we met we would hit it off famously.
